  1. I'll add to this. The MB 3 icon is not showing up on my taskbar either. I thought the latest version fixed that but it didn't. Basically when I shut my computer off at night and turn on in the morning the icon is not there, the only time it appears is when I do a restart, it disappears after I shut down and start again the next morning. So basically a restart will show the icon temporarily which vanishes again after a shutdown. Been doing this for weeks. Sorry, I can't do logs now.
  2. Most should be compatible with MBAM. Top rated would be Eset, Kaspersky, and Bitdefender. I use Emsisoft Antimalware which provides great protection and works absolutely perfectly with MBAM. Basically there is no "best", its whatever works best for you. Many have free trials, maybe try a few out to see how you like them.
  3. I would uninstall Privacy Badger and Ghostery and both are redundant with Ublock and may be the cause of your browser delays.
  4. Information like this is good to have, for instance, if a user uninstalled MBAM due to issues with Firefox ( or any other issue for that matter) then knowing that said issue was resolved would aid the customer into knowing that they could re-install without any problems arising. Transparency with a customer base is always the best policy in my opinion.
  5. AdBlock or an ad blocker? Some sites will ask you to disable your ad blocker, are you using any other ad blocker?
  6. Glad you figured it out, if you need to find the setting I mentioned above in the future, you get there by opening MBAM, click on "Settings" then just scroll down to Windows Action Center.
  7. You need a certain number of posts to be able to edit your profile, I'm not sure of the exact amount but it may be 50.
  8. I am using MBAM and get into this site, nova.astrometry.ne, with no problems, however, I am not trying to upload any files, maybe that is the issue?? If you go to Settings-Exclusions you can enter the website to be excluded.
  9. Contact support here for a refund, won't be a problem. https://support.malwarebytes.com/customer/portal/emails/new?b_id=6400
  10. I know many people who use either Aoemi Backupper or Macrium Reflect, both are highly rated.
  11. I am also considering not renewing my anti virus or at the very least just running with Defender and a couple other programs. Using any one of Appguard, Voodoo Shield, NoVirusThanks, Sandboxie or Shadow Defender along with UBlock Origin, Windows firewall and MBAM is more than enough protection if your a safe surfer.
  12. If you know what you are doing you can absolutely run without an anti virus, many use Voodoo Shield, Appguard, Sandboxie etc to do this. Or by tweaking Windows, however I agree, few are knowledgeable enough to do this, but if done correctly your probably safer than just relying on an anti virus.
  13. If you are using MBAM 3 then Ransomware Protection should be a part of it, the 4 modules in MBAM 3 are Web, Exploit, Malware and Ransomware protection. If you go to the Settings page and click on the Protecrion tab it should show all 4 modules with a button to turn them either on or off. If it doesn't show Ransomware Protection you may have had a faulty install, maybe uninstall and try installing again. How do you know that you do not have Ransomware protection?
  14. I'm going to disable the real time protection on all my security softs before I update to the newest Windows, usually I don't but not going to take a chance this time. Also heard there is a problem with Shadow Defender which I use occasionally, chances are I will uninstall it first although developer said there is a fix coming.
  15. You should still be able to use your old license's.
  16. See this: https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/198624-malwarebytes-306-cu4-latest-version/ New version just released that should solve your issues.
  17. Do you have Advanced System Care from IObit installed on your system? If so that is why the pup detections keep re-occuring, If not you could try deleting that folder yourself "C:\ProgramData\IObit " or uninstall any IObit programs, they are not highlly recommended around here.
  18. If you prefer to do daily scan I see no problem with that, I choose not to because I think its not necessary for me, there is no right answer here, if you download torrents or visit questionable sights then most certainly a daily scan is probably best. I clean my registry frequently because I like to keep my computer tidy and efficient. Is this needed, probably not, again its my choice, for most others it may not be a good practice. I use RegScanner and System Look because they work and are reliable. I do not use cleaners that come bundled with other optimizing programs, to me these can do more harm then good, with the tools I use you can specifically look for certain registry entries, they are not an all in one tool that tries to clean every "bad" entry in your registry. After a scan I would look at every entry scheduled for deletion, most times I am just looking for entries related to a specific software, if I;m not sure what the entry is then I would not delete it. If anyone is not comfortable dabbling in their registry or unsure about what entries to delete then I would not attempt cleaning your registry.
  19. I was installing over 3.0.6, did not use mb clean. In any case it seems like the same thing happened to both of us, I believe installing over top or clean shouldn't matter, maybe a bug in this version? In response to throkr, I had self- protection off when I tried to update.
  20. Just updated, a couple of comments. Tried to update over top, box came up that said something about a program that did not uninstall correctly and I would have to reboot my computer, after reboot still had old version. Box did not say MBAM did not uninstall completely , just that a program did not. So uninstalled old version and installed new, so far nothing amiss but did not keep my old settings. So far so good, will play a bit more to see if I find anything else. MBAM service using 325.5 MB. Threat scan - 408,991 items in 54 seconds. Edit: I guess it wouldn't have kept my old settings if I uninstalled old version...
  21. I would suggest not scanning so often, at the very least schedule your scans when your not using the computer, like 4 AM. Also, you do not need to scan every 4 hours, thats overkill. I assume your using the paid version of MBAM, if so, it has real time protection so if you catch something you will be notified immediately, scanning so often won't change this. I scan about twice a month, haven't been infected for years.
