[SOLVED] MBAE stopped under Windows 10
digmorcrusher replied to medeiross's topic in Anti-Exploit Beta
Updated to Windows 10 last night, seemed like MBAE was working fine after the update, this morning I started computer and icon in taskbar was missing, clicked on icon on desktop, nothing, couple of minutes later a box appeared saying MBAE was going to be terminated. Couldn't get the program to open. So tried a re-install, still wouldn't work. Wanted to try a re-install again, this time I wanted to delete any MBAE folders and anything I could find in the registry. I could not delete the MBAE folder in Program Files(x86) says folder was being used in another program, no way I could figure out a way to delete it. Tried re-install anyways, still not working. Help please. -

No solution for this yet, back up all your files in the hope that they catch these guys one day and release the decrypter. -
[SOLVED] Chrome/IE not showing balloon/log as protected

I assume you added Ccleaner to your shields, I use it as well. Just wondering if this is needed? -
No downsides here, simple to use and effective. So that gives me more time for beer.

I've purchased from the downloadcrew before, as far as I know they are reputable. -

CAN'T DISABLE UPDATE POPUP NOTIFICATION
digmorcrusher replied to notbananas's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
How else would you recommend that users are notified about updates? ESP, carrier pigeons or maybe hand written letters? If you choose not to update then you are putting yourself at risk, all programs need updates, updates fix bugs, provide better protection, update data bases just to name a few advantages. People who do not update are people who get infected. -
Malwarebytes Acquires Junkware Removal Tool
digmorcrusher replied to RubbeR DuckY's topic in Malwarebytes News
Not particularly fond of JRT as there are no user options, that is it does not give you any control on what it deletes. In my mind this is a not good as the user should have control over what any program deletes from their system. Hopefully the MBAM guys will remedy this and make it an even better tool. -
Not a big deal to me if the key is showing as I'm the only one who uses this computer, may be a bigger deal if you have roommates or a similar type of scenario. Emsisoft Antimalware has a line that says" Show License", so key is not shown unless you click this line. I guess could still be stolen with an additional click, however, one of my house rules is " No Thiefs Allowed". Edit: Sorry, typed this before I installed new version, I see that it is the same as EAM with a " Show Details" line. This does not concern me.

Likewise, Windows 7, no problems here.

Log tab was designed to be empty in latest version. There are several posts in here about it if you search. My MBAE just sits there too, that's a good thing, that means you use your computer wisely, don't go to dodgy sites, don't download torrents etc. Would you rather it pop up everytime you are on the computer, if it did it means you are taking risks and will eventually get infected. Its there when you need it, so far you haven't needed it. Believe me its an very effective tool against malware, it just sits there and does its job. Maybe boring for some who like to tweak their security software, but one day you'll probably be glad you have it.

I'll do a diagnostic one of these days when I have time, using Aomei backupper for now. I think you can close this thread as we can't repair a failing hard drive. Thanks for the help. -

You can see error message in post 9. Haven't tried in safe mode yet, was thinking about trying . I'll try, if I still can't its not a big deal, I'll just find a program to back up everything. All I'm doing now is backing up my documents and pictures on a separate hard drive and using Windows backup every once in a while. -

Ron, I read that thread before, looks like different symptoms, same result, no system restore. Don't think I want to try brute force as computer is running perfectly other than not being able to make a restore point, would be scared something would get worse. Not that I use a system restore much but it has come in handy a time or two, would like a recent restore point to be available just in case. I could probably try installing/uninstalling software to see if that creates a restore point. Are there any other tools that can be used to try to create a restore point ? -

I went to your link and tried to do a diagnostic test but it seems like you have to burn a disc to do this, tried once, didn't work, really do not want to try any further. Found a couple other utilities CyrstalDisc Info and HD Tune, don't know how good they are, Crystal threw up a couple warnings. Everything is backed up so if hard drive fails then so be it, nothing we can do about it. More concerned with getting back the ability to make restore points again. Thanks. -

MBAM clean has been done. I probably wouldn't have time to do the diagnostics until Sunday. If hard drive is failing is there even anything that could be done to fix it? -
