  1. Dear Malwarebytes, I received the option to update Malwarebytes to the latest version yesterday. I chose the option to install the latest version and it just hung at the end of the install. I haven't had problems installing any other programs except this one. I tried the repair install 3 times and it gets to the point where it reinstalls Malwarebytes then just hangs. If I try to run Malwarebytes it just hangs and the whole system freezes requiring a hard reboot. I also tried the clean uninstall option and experienced the same hang and freezing etc. Since then I ran Memtest 86 v4.3.7 (legacy BIOS), ran a check disk of the C drive, and ran "sfc /scannow" as the administrator. All of the results have come back fine. I'm not sure hat is causing the problem. I ran the Malwarebytes reporting tool and have uploaded the zip file. Any help or instruction would be much appreciated. Best Regards, Ben mbst-grab-results.zip
  2. Hi Could someone please help me? I downloaded Malwarebytes on my HP windows 10 laptop and paid for the subscription. A couple of weeks back there was an update and since then Malwarebytes won't open. I uninstalled it and re-installed it with a message box opening really quickly and then closing. It still won't open. I tried running it as an administrator. I also have Kaspersky on the laptop and after doing a deep scan (thinking there might be some spyware on the laptop) nothing was detected. I've currently deleted/uninstalled Mlawarebytes but since I've paid the subscription I want to use it. Thanks in advance!
  3. Malwarebytes will not start, only get up unable to connect to server, tried uninstall and reinstalling also but get this message up when I try uninstalling and also when I try reinstalling it with the newest version downloaded from my malwarebytes account. What should I do???
  4. I can't seem to uninstall Malwarebytes. It's shown in my Start menu, but when I click it, nothing happens. I've used Revo Uninstall (which deletes leftover files), and it showed me an error message (attached), told me there were some remaining files and that I need to reboot to eliminate them. I see there's still a remaining Malwarebytes process in Task Manager, but even after ending the latter and rebooting. Malwarebytes still shows in Start (but won't open) and still shows a process in Task Manager. Oddly, my goal, after I get it fully installed, is to then reinstall the program! I fear that clean boot done by a Microsoft Tech support person is what did it in... Can you help me fully uninstall this app? Malwarebytes Uninstall Error.pdf
  5. The Malwarebytes that was installed was not working. When I clicked the program icon was told .idd missing and suggested re-installing the program. When I tried to re-install I am getting an error message saying file already exists. The old Malwarebytes has been removed, at least it is no longer in the programs list. I have run a FRST and attach the mb-check results mb-check-results.txt
  6. I have tried to uninstall via control panel but it just gets stuck for hours. Please help, I ran the clean up software and got the attached file. It has slowed my laptop so want to remove it. mb-check-results.zip
  7. Hi - Even after uninstalling the software, I can't get the Malware bites icon out of my menu bar on my macbook (see attachment). I also get frequent software update reminders but I installed the software several weeks ago. I've tried restarting my computer, looking at what programs have permission to start when I login, and also clicking the icon and going to 'settings'. When I click settings, I get a macbook notification "There is no application set to open the URL com.malwarebytes.mbam://settings" Thank you in advance for your help!
  8. On antivirus programs we've used in the past, they had a feature which allowed you to enter a passcode, that prevented anyone from uninstalling the software. I see that Malwarebytes has "User Access" Limitations, but I am unsure which feature to restrict, to prevent uninstalling. It is "settings/application"? Also can you point me to info that provides more details about each of these choices? Thanks!
  9. The proper methods for uninstalling Malwarebytes for Mac can be found here: https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1928 If you have tried to remove the software by dragging the Malwarebytes application to the trash, that is not the proper way to remove it. In that case, you will be unable to access the Uninstall item in the application to remove the software properly in recent versions of Malwarebytes for Mac. In such a case, you can do one of two things: 1) Reinstall Malwarebytes for Mac (re-download from the following link, if necessary), then uninstall by following the directions at the link above. https://malwarebytes.com/mac-download 2) Download and run the following AppleScript applet, which will uninstall the software. https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mac_uninstall_script/ In the future, be aware that any software that requires an installer will also need to be properly uninstalled. In a very few cases, software may self-uninstall if you drag the application to the trash, but in most cases you should check the documentation and/or website for the software in question, and use the proper uninstall method recommended by the developer of the software. Do not use generic app "removers," "cleaners," "zappers," etc. Such programs do not actually remove the software the correct way, and often either leave components behind or, worse, remove things that shouldn't have been removed. Only the developer of the software knows what needs to be removed and how to properly remove it all. The exception to the rule, of course, is adware and other scam or junk software, where the developer doesn't necessarily want you removing the software. You can use Malwarebytes for Mac to help remove such programs.
  10. I recently uninstalled Malwarebytes 3, but a few days before that, I did a Threat Scan and it found a threat (called Trojan-something...) so I quarantined it. Then I forgot about it, and uninstalled Malwarebytes 3, and re-installed it. I did another Threat Scan and no threats were detected. So my question is, what happened to that quarantined threat when I uninstalled Malwarebytes? Did it get un-quarantined? Is it now hiding somewhere deep in my computer? Or was it safely removed along with my previous installation of Malwarebytes? Is my computer really clean now?
  11. I was having the same issue a lot of people have had lately with web protection turning itself off and refusing to turn it back on. I followed instructions to run the clean but when I hit yes to reinstall, it popped up that the install had failed and that I should contact Malwarebytes and include the results. I'm a safe browser in terms of the websites I usually end up on, but I have been using Malwarebytes for years and I'm quite anxious to be sitting here using my PC with only the Windows Defender doing anything. mb-clean-results.txt
  12. In my case, i was able to finally, somehow, uninstall it in windows 7 progams and features. Then i ran the clean tool. Two days ago i reinstalled mbam and all was well, but now i'm back to it turning off protection. Right now i have zero protection. I hesitate in trying another mbam install. Will it work this time? If i reinstall it again, will the real-time stay on? thanks
  13. With this new update issue over the weekend I have a machine that won't boot. Can only get into safe mode where the uninstall program or fixer executable don't work. How do I manually uninstall Endpoint Protection or uninstall from safe mode?? Don't want to reload the whole machine just because of some issue with MWB.
  14. Hello - I installed malwarebytes a few weeks ago and the trial is expiring. Now I need to uninstall this application but keep receiving the following error "Unable to create a temporary file. Set up aborted. Error 5: access is denied". I am not the most technical person but here is what I tried: 1. Using the uninstall malwarebytes option from windows 10 menu resulted in the same error 2. Trying to uninstall from add/remove programs resulted in the same error 3. closing MB processes from task manager and stopping mbam services results in the same error 4. windows/program files/malwarebytes main folded is restricted to read only. I have admin privileges but am still unable to apply changes to the main/sub folders Is there a complete resolution to uninstalling malwarebytes that does not include manually removing files and changing registry settings? I have already spent too much time trying to get this "free" version uninstalled to no avail.
  15. I have had MB3/Win 10 64 bit, installed and running on my Asus g73jh since November, no problems until last Saturday (1-27). I had a Windows 10 freeze up. It took a couple RESTORE attempts and 5 or 6 reboots/shutdowns to stabilize the system. In the meantime, Malwarebytes 3 suddenly became inaccessible, no matter how I approached it. Desktop icon/tray icon didn't respond, going into Programs and launching there --- nope. Windows Defender showed that attention was needed regarding MB3. After scouring the forums, I finally decided to try an Uninstall-Install. Now I cannot download and reinstall MB3 at all, even after running MB Clean. Every time I tried opening "mb3-setup-consumer-x.x.x.xxxx.exe after, however, each time I receive the error message "ShellExecuteEx failed; Code 2147746132. Class not registered." I was able to unzip an Windows-mb-installer and get it to run....for a few seconds before I got this error message: Class not registered, ClassID {00021401-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} I am about at the point where I say screw it and reformat with clean install of Windows and piece together the apps, like Civ V, GoPanda2, etc. Do you have any suggested fixes that I haven't tried. I am in no way a power user. Thanks.
  16. I have a i7 with 32 GB ram running Windows 10 latest. Recently, accessing files on my SSD has been extremely SLOW, it's slower than a mechanical hard drive. My browsing has been slow. When multi-tasking, my computer mysteriously slows down. Generally, everything slow down to last gen machine. My Q6600 felt much faster than my i7. I play with numerous settings, update driver software, replacing hardware components, nothing helps. Today, thanks to MBAM kills my machine by eating all my RAM, I decided to remove it until they fix it. The side effect is that my machine is now back alive with performance I expected with no other issues what so ever! When I searched the RAM issue, I realized that MBAM has been slowing down computers in the past and I would not have thought about it without today's RAM issue. Hopefully MBAM will have a newer patch than today's to fix not only the RAM leak issue but also performance issue. Looking forward to install MBAM again.
  17. Today, Saturday, Jan 27, 2018, when I want to use my computer to look up over the web, my computer froze. I realized later it was MBAM that use up memory, kill the computer and my video card. Reboot helps, but MBAM immediately eats up all the available memory again. I have 32 GB installed running on a i7 chip. Luckily, I have a smartphone allows me to search and Google immediately shows me that people discovered the issue more than 16 hours ago. MBAM pinned a message in the forum I can't wait for them to fix to use my computer again. So I uninstall MBAM. BAM!! Of course it fixed the problem, my computer feels fresh again - running much faster than with MBAM. I am extremely surprised that my i7 chip with 32 GB is not enough to run MBAM. MBAM made EVERYTHING slow on my system, accessing the file system via File Explorer, running Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Opera all slows down extremely over time. The search made me realized that this "has" been an issue with MBAM in the past. I have been using MBAM premium for years but didn't realize that MBAM is the problem. I am glad MBAM kills itself to alert me to uninstall it and brings back my system performance I missed in the past. At least I am relief that the issue is caused by a single software rather than other issues I thought I was experienced but no solution was able to fix it until today.
  18. I am not able uninstall Malwarebytes even after I remove it from App store by putting it into trash. I tried to locate this package for uninstalling: /Library/Application Support/Malwarebytes/MBAM/Engine.bundle/Contents/Resources/Remove_Malwarebytes.pkg However, I couldn't find it at all. Is it hidden somewhere else? Please help. Thanks.
  19. I can see the Malwarebytes Endpoint Agent in /Library/Application Support. However, there is no Uninstall tool. I can't just trash this folder because there is a LaunchAgent and LaunchDaemon. Is there a command to remove the Endpoint Agent?
  20. I wanted to uninstall malwarebytes the other day so I went to the apps folder and tossed it in the recycling bin and deleted it. Today it asked me to update my software. I restarted my computer but was asked again upon rebooting. I download the unistaller but after installing I couldnt find where it went so now I have to get that off my computer as well. What is up?
  21. I am having trouble with and without MBAM 3.3.1 even with all available updates. I tried turning off the self-protection feature, and turning off protection for certain applications. I also tried completely uninstalling MBAM 3.3.1. Even after what appeared to be a successful uninstall, CPU usage remains near 100%. The computer involved runs Windows XP. I attach the MB-check results with MBAM 3.3.1, and the FRST output text files after uninstalling MBAM 3.3.1. The MB script program crashed each time, so I put them into a zip file. I would like to make a clean and thorough uninstall. Maybe these uploaded files will help with development. Thanks, mb-check-results_with_MBAM_3.3.1.zip FRST_results_without_MBAM_3.3.1.zip
