You should be able to download and over-install on top of your current installation. If you get that message again, simply run the installer one more time.

  11. Hello all-- We now have an early preview of our upcoming Malwarebytes 3.0.6 release available. If you are experiencing any sort of issue at all with an earlier version of Malwarebytes (e.g. 3.0.4 or 3.0.5), please try this newest one instead. Malwarebytes v. 3.0.6.1458 can be downloaded from this link. We've addressed over a 100 items in this release, so that's too many to list here, but we tried to get most of the top issues people were seeing. What's New in 3.0.6: Performance/protective capability Several improvements to malware detection and remediation capabilities Several performance improvements, including improving startup time, improving shutdown time on Windows 7, addressing memory leaks and reducing CPU usage after a scan has completed Added MS Publisher as a default Protected Application for anti-exploit protection Usability Fixed issue where a previously activated Premium license could be dropped incorrectly Fixed issue where Malwarebytes version information would revert to default values of 3.0.0 in certain cases, such as when coming back from minimal safe mode Fixed issue where ‘Real-Time Protection turned off’ notifications would display incorrectly on initial startup Fixed problem where the 'Check for updates every' setting would get stuck at 14 days after changing frequency to ‘Days’ Fixed Help question marks throughout the main user interface so that they work when clicked Stability/issues fixed Addressed several crashes and blue screens, including the BSOD that could occur with Web Protection on Windows Insider Previews Fixed the issue with Exploit Protection that caused Edge to crash/hang on Windows Insider Previews Fixed issue when Exploit Protection was enabled that caused PowerPoint to not load Fixed conditions that could lead to an ‘Unable to connect to service’ error Fixed issue where exclusions did not work properly when there were associated threat traces detected Fixed issue where Web Protection would not start up properly Fixed numerous scan hangs or crashes, including one that could occur during heuristics phase Numerous other fixes to improve overall program stability and usability The one notable issue that was not able to be included in this release was problem with imaging programs (such as Macrium Reflect) where large artifact files are left System Volume Information file if a backup is created with anti-ransomware protection enabled. That one should be coming soon after this release! Let us know what you think by posting a new topic below. Thanks!
  12. @Will_T Glad to hear 3.0.5 is working mostly-ok for you. The issues you mentioned are both known and will be addressed in the upcoming patch. @toadstew2016 Thanks for the ideas on how we can improve beta program - definitely some good ones there!
  13. Right--which is why I said we're considering revamping the program so that there are more concrete rewards vs. just warm fuzzies.
  14. Not quite sure I understand... Are you asking about rewards for beta testers? If so, we've actually been discussing how we might improve our entire beta testing program -- from soliciting participants, to where and how it's managed, to rewarding participation, etc. So definitely seems we're thinking along the same lines!
  15. Hi mbam4ever-- We actually already have this in the "Upgrading to Malwareybtes 3.0" post in the Malwarebytes 3.0 Frequently Asked Questions pinned topic -- see last item in that post :
  16. Hello toadstew2016-- Thanks for raising the question! I'm happy to give you an update on what's been happening. After the initial 3.0.4 release we did get a quick 3.0.5 patch out before the holidays to fix at least some of the big issues folks were running into. We knew there was still more we had to tackle, so since then we've been working non-stop on another patch to address many of the other higher-priority issues. We have a bit more work to do, but I'm expecting to be able to get this updated version out to you all very soon! I know waiting on a new version can be extremely frustrating, especially if you're among those affected by some of the known issues, so I appreciate your continued patience. When you're experiencing problems like the ones that have been pointed out in recent threads it's easy to think that everyone else must be experiencing the same level of problems / frustrations. But we literally now have millions of users on 3.0 and most users are running problem free. That doesn't change the urgency of the issues affecting others like yourself though, so again, we are all working to get this patch for you ASAP.
  17. Oops! Somehow that slipped through, but I've just now updated the Known Issues list. We hope to get a fix out for this shortly!
  18. Thank you for the feedback. Please keep in mind that 3.0 is a complete rewrite and thus the overall architecture for 3.0 is very different from 2.x. 3.0 uses a service architecture that is actually designed to have the service running at all times, even in Free mode. So the ability to "quit" completely is already somewhat of a work-around that we've provided for those who prefer to not have it run this way. We realize that if you're used to running the old version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.x then this will be an adjustment. I've made a note of your comments and request, and we'll continue to track other feedback on this.
  19. Please see my reply on your original post: It would be helpful if we could keep the conversation over there rather than keeping these two threads active. (And thank you very much @Aura for pointing me to the original thread! I wasn't sure what the issue was initially. )
  20. If you quit via the system tray then everything should close out completely--the tray, user interface and service. Then, if you have unchecked "Start with Windows" in the tray, the next time you reboot, nothing will start unless launched manually.
  21. Hello, MichaW-- Please toggle the selection of "Start with Windows" entry in the tray menu by clicking it from checked to not checked to checked again. This should "reset" the setting that prevents Malwarebytes from starting with each Windows start. Once you've done this, you should be able to choose "Quit Malwarebytes" one more time from the tray, then next time you reboot it will not start. It will not start again unless you manually launch it. Closing with the X only closes the main user interface in this version -- not the full program.
  22. Hello, jadinolf-- You are running the latest version with your 3.0.5 installation. Can you please go to Settings > Protection tab > Real-Time Protection and click the Managed Protected Applications button? From there, please turn protection for Mozilla Firefox to Off. Does the problem still exist after doing that? Thank you,
  23. Hello, novelist11-- There are two different types of updates / upgrades within Malwarebytes 3.0. The first are protection-related updates and we do ship those as incrementals wherever possible so as to keep the updates as small as possible. They're the files found in C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService with the extension "mbdb." Then we also have application-related updates and upgrades. Updates are smaller and typically replace current component already in use, so they don't take up extra space. If we ever have a full installer upgrade, such as we just release yesterday with v. 3.0.5, then we need to push out a full new version of the program. This would be a setup file equivalent to downloading the installer fresh from our website--so would be named something like mb3-setup-consumer.3.0.5.1299.exe. When you install the upgrade the older version is removed, so the size is usually a wash. Hope this helps!
  24. So glad everything seems to be working again with 3.0.5. Please do keep us posted and let us know if there are any further issues.
  25. Hello! We’ve just released a new v. 3.0.5 upgrade patch for Malwarebytes v. 3.0. If you’re running any earlier 3.0 version you will be prompted to upgrade at some point over the next week or so. But if you’d like to install the latest version immediately, you can download and install v. 3.0.5.1299 from this link. This release resolves a number of items that have been reported since the initial launch of Malwarebytes 3.0: Fixed installer error that displayed 'External exception E06D7363' Fixed issue where updates would get stuck in 'Checking' state Fixed issue where “Real-Time Protection disabled” notifications would display throughout the day (NOTE: this notification may still be seen on reboot on some systems, but we’re working on another longer-term fix to address that separately) Fixed slow shutdown issue that could occur in Windows 7 with real-time Malware Protection enabled (NOTE: a corresponding fix for Ransomware Protection is still pending) Fixed conflict with Kaspersky that would not allow browsers to open properly Improved upgrade experience when installing over a previous version of the Malwarebytes anti-exploit technology I know there are a number of other items still pending, but the team is actively working on getting those addressed as soon as possible, too!
