There are no officially recognized tests that test Malwarebytes the way that it actually does its job.

So, in fact you are saying that nobody can certify that MBAM is doing any job at all , or is doing a job better that some other software...

As a side note, in over 4 years and 3 PC's I never had a detection initiated by MBAM before my antivirus (except web protection, most of them FP's)

Malwarebytes is a SUPPLEMENT to catch what your AV misses. You have to run or scan a item to get MB to take any action on an exe. Just opening a folder or downloading said file will not trigger MB.

What you consider a FP might not be to the average user. Everything is blocked for a reason even if you do not agree with it or the reason. FP's happen but are corrected quickly if they are really false. But not just because you or other people think a site or IP should not be blocked.

I understand and agree with Malwarebytes rising the price of its software because it now includes anti-exploit and antiransomware. As I only have one computer I don't see a problem with the price for the single licence but I think that there should be a better pricing for users with many pcs because it can become a bit overwhelming for some people. But people with old licence can still pay the old price forever (I think?).

Anyways you can always go with a free or paid av with Malwarebytes Free and the Anti Exploit Perpetual Beta and you will have a way-more-than-decent protection.

Sorry, I am confused.  I have two lifetime licenses which I use on a Windows 10 and Vista computer with absolutely no problems with my licenses so I don't understand what everyone is saying.  My understanding is that I will be able to use these licenses as long as  I am alive.  Is that correct?  Thank you.

Thank you, by the way I love the new Malwarebytes.

Anti-Virus company's offerings do not protect from the things MB does.

I agree completely.....................if MB3 would run in a stable, safe and adequate way for all of its customers!

Watching all the complains here about not running or "self-turned-off" important safety features and all the troubles a lot of customers have because of those issues MB3 is not worth the money, at least at time.

And now even in the till now always stably and safely running MBAM2 is an issue concerning the important safety feature IP-protection, which isn't solved till yet.

I am sorry, but at time I can't come to another assessment of the current MBAM2 and MB3.

Malwarebytes 3.0 is not an actual antivirus and we have never said that it was.

In the past I have posted it already two times, that  Malwarebytes claimed that anyway and they continue to claim it to this day!

Evidences:

 American homepage

German homepage    ("hinfällig" = obsolete)

P.S.

@Porthos I don't zero in on you, it's reputable by you to defend Malwarebytes in all situations but you can't deny the current precarious situation of Malwarebytes in several positions as there are stability of MB3, enduring solutions of the current issues and commendableness of the current MB3 (and MBAM2 as well because of the lately unstable IP-protection).

I have to agree and just as much as you did, I appreciate @Porthos for following the company's line. But...

The US website states this:

Quote

MALWAREBYTES 3.0: NOW STRONGER AND SMARTER

Makes
Antivirus
Obsolete

No, it does not state that MB 3.0 is an actual antivirus, but it certainly insinuates that. If you have solution that had been made obsolete by MB, why would you keep it on your system? At the very least, the above quote is misleading...

In my view, this would be straightforward:

Quote

MALWAREBYTES 3.0: NOW STRONGER AND SMARTER

Quad
Protecting
Systems

There would be no misunderstanding what Malwarebytes solution does and leaves the antivirus alone. No, I am not trying to defend the antivirus, even if it has some useful purpose...

PS: I do like Malwarebytes software and believe that this is the right direction for endpoint protection, especially for home, small and mid-size businesses. And yes, I do wish Malwarebytes would address the current issues with the version 3.0x faster, but I am still patient...

I think a moderator should get this response and pin it at the forum index in caps lock, bold and red font.

Even though we are full of posts here from moderators that says we should use it alongside antivirus, which is a bit contradictory to what the company states in the website. But it is always good to have layered protection.

I have a subscription to MBAM v3 premium, which I would renew if the developers would only fix the issues with the performance hit to my laptop, (bad)  and the price a little too high @ almost $60.00 AU per year for a single device.  MBAM is a very good product, used it for years ,however after many hours of trying to fix the performance drain on my brand new laptop with the v3, I have removed it and replaced it with Bitdefender for Anit-Virus protection, and CryptoPrevent to protect against ransomware which has protected me in the past against a crypto attack.   In conjunction with tuning on the protection settings, available all common browsers now , I am well protected, without any significant hit to my laptop and for a fraction of the cost.    Happy to go back to MBAM once the performance issues are solved ..

It is true the price has gone up lots, but you pay for the best protection right. lot of others let bugs threw. No I do not work for them, just a person that has had malwarebytes  for 3 years, and yes it it also true that they can hurt them selves if prices go to high,so when I go to renew will get the old price,so many out there say they can do this and that but malwarebytes can, plus they have a great support team, but buy now before they up price more in a year or so then you are grandfathered in,play it safe

I have two lifetime MBAM and two Zemana for other machines. Used Bit Defender for a week on all four. Went to Emsisoft and like it much better. Don't know about the

future though. Being on Social Security limits my options to some degree as I like layered protection.

Sorry but not going to pay $80.00 PER YEAR for 2 PC's... Price is too high. I had Malwarebytes since it came out, right up to the point where I'd have to pay $80.00 per year  2 PC's , so Bye Bye Malwarebytes and switched to free alternatives and haven't looked back....

Hello @ffwfire:

You already had/have the correct licensing terms understanding.  Lifetime = Lifetime.

Thank you.

Sorry to disagree but I had Lifetime license that was fine UNTIL Malwarebytes started charging 39.99 a year per PC, my lifetime license no longer works and to keep premium I'd have to pay

the fee when I already paid for a lifetime license? So I dumped MB and went 2 free alternatives.

If you still have the lifetime key or the email it was purchased with support could have helped you. Please contact our support team at https://support.malwarebytes.com/community/consumer/pages/contact-us to get help

For one it is not $80 for 2 PC's it is about $60 (there is a discount for multiple devices). Also, the "Lifetime" license is a one computer license. If you attempted to use it on more than one computer it most likely deactivated and all you needed to do is contact support to reactivate it again for a single computer.

This is an ancient topic, as such, I'm going to close it. If you want to discuss further please open a new topic.

A Lifetime license, as long as not stolen, illegal, keygen, etc. never expires. You will need proof of purchase from a valid vendor. eBay and similar sites are almost always stolen licenses and activation may be deactivated at any time if or when discovery shows the license to be in use on multiple computers. (normally due to theft).

Thank you
