  1. I bought a cheap Android 6.0 phone (LEAGOO M8 PRO) at the back end of last year and now read the news that this phone, amongst other cheap Chinese models, may have been loaded with the Android.Triada.231 banking trojan.

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/banking-trojan-found-in-over-40-models-of-low-cost-android-smartphones/

So I'd be glad to have your advice on whether a scan with Malwarebytes for Android would identify this if it were present on my device and, if so, would be able to remove it. The Bleeping Computer article suggests that wiping and reinstalling the OS may be the only solution, a process I've no experience of and would prefer to avoid!

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Previous version 3.4.2 BETA has been performing without problems for a week but installed 3.4.3 anyway by activating "BETA Application Updates" in the program and then "Install Application Updates". No problems and all settings carried over apart from Language (English UK) - would be nice to see that remedied sometime soon. I will add to this thread after I've had a chance to test the BETA further.

    Weston1973,

Just checked the topics that you started, it looks like you're a spammer trying to make everyone think that Malwarebytes is not a legal company.

Everyone has own opinion regarding which AV is the best. I run Windows Defender and MB 3.0 Pro for years without any issues.

Yes, there seem to be the usual contributions from those who, for whatever reason, post for no other purpose than to badmouth a product.. I've found Malwarebytes and the support provided directly and through these forums to be first class, certainly better than most of the other antivirus and anti-malware products I've used over the years, free or paid-for (and I've been actively using personal computers for real world tasking since 1981).

We will be participating in more lab tests shortly and biting the bullet of adding unnecessary bloat to the product to entertain these unrealistic tests and test fanboys, but that doesn't mean that we agree with them. Their testing methodologies are all ~10 years old.

For myself, I'd be disappointed if Malwarebytes felt they had to go down that route - it would be a retrograde step.

Thanks for your feedback. The failure to load the driver is infrequent. For some while I've had Tweaking.com's Registry Backup run an auto back-up at startup on the first usage of the day - this uses VSS shadow copy and is quite processor intensive on my low spec laptop at startup. Do you think this could be a factor? I suspect, but am not 100% certain, that the failure to load the DDA driver only may only occur on first booting the laptop and also that the problem may tend to occur if I've not used the laptop for a couple of days and  thus Malwarebytes and perhaps MSE with other software are all trying to update and perform missed scans together and exacerbating the problems. The laptop is wirelessly connected to my router and the initial connection always takes ages to happen, although is stable once made, and I also wonder if this could also create a bottleneck at startup which may have adverse effects?

I've disabled the auto registry backup for the moment to see if that helps.......

  6. @Jekko Jon, sorry to say that I spoke too soon!!

I received the "Unable to load the Anti Rootkit DDA Driver" message again this morning when I tried to open Malwarebytes from the tray icon, despite the tray icon itself displaying no warnings that there was anything amiss. I followed the prompts to reboot, when Malwarebytes ran a full threat scan off its own bat, with no threats found. I had already run a manual threat scan the previous day, with no problems found.

I attach the required logs in case they help...........

  7. I installed the Beta version yesterday by enabling Beta Application Updates in settings, then  Install Application Updates and following the prompts. Installation went without a hitch and, as far as I can see, all my settings were carried over with the exception of Language, which still reverts to the American version of English and screws up the date settings. Annoying, but not serious. A threat scan and some reboots later and no problems as yet.

n the last release version and its predecessors I'd had occasional issues with Real-Time Protection elements being switched off when starting (generally able to toggle back on and fix that way) and an occasional "Unable to load the Anti Rootkit DDA Driver" message which has prompted a restart and Malwarebytes then initiating a Threat Scan at startup. These issues seemed to disappear for a while after a clean Install but could return after a time. I don't know whether this Beta will have addressed these issues but I will report any bad behaviour here with logs.

    So far, so good.....

Following up on the post at the head of this forum about the exclusions recommended to be added to other security software running alongside Malwarebytes 3, I've done this for some time with the antivirus software I've used (currently content with MSE) and also included C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes and C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes folders for good measure.  However, I'd just like to make absolutely sure that I'm doing this correctly by adding these to the "Excluded files and locations" tab in MSE and shouldn't have anything added under the "Excluded file types" and "Excluded processes" tabs.

SAme problem one time on my laptop today (windows 8 x64). Restarting windows solve the problem but this is curious. i dont have cryptoprevent.

    And sometimes, this problems too.

    @Fatcap

Thanks for your input, but you would be best starting your own thread as the cause of your problems is probably not the same as mine - your operating system is different for a start.

Follow the guidelines in this post, and I'm sure you'll get the help you need.

    Hi,

In my testing, performing the exact same steps on Win7 x64 exhibits the same result as described on Win10 x64, in that Malwarebytes has no issues.  To be clear, I have enabled all features/maximum settings in CryptoPrevent, and in Malwarebytes I enabled (in addition to the default installation settings) the "Scan for Rootkits"  "Enable self-protection module early start" features as well as "Collect enhanced log data for support (not recommended)" so I can provide any additional details as necessary.

    Hope this helps,

@FoolishITThanks for the additional information - it's reassuring for me to know that I can carry on using CryptoPrevent with confidence alongside Malwarebytes,  my other favourite  piece of security software ?

Though my interest in the motivation behind the actions of other is genuine, I feel like closing this thread may be for the best before it gets too ugly. No mods are currently online so I can only ask everyone to keep their emotions in check.

@AdvancedSetup@daledoc1 This topic may need some modding

No argument with your input, Durew, just amazed at some of the cretinous comments in this thread

  12. OK, since the last clean install I still have the occasional instances of the Anti-Rootkit DDA Driver being unable to load. I understand from @vbarytskyy post that it's something you're actively investigating but I attach current MB-Chk results including FarBar scans and the latest clean install log in case they help. Windows shows no other obvious anomalies since then and runs as well as can be expected considering the age and spec of the laptop. Though can't say I'm looking forward to the inevitable move to Windows 10 which will probably mean buying a new one.........
