  1. Is this a change in the support tool? I was under the understanding that the support tool backed up the license info and then when the re-install happened MB would be activated automatically?

  10. After Multiple Disasters, Microsoft Has Finally Decided to Use Its Insiders to Test Cumulative Updates It’s getting almost a routine to read about non-stop disasters that many of the Windows 10 users face after every new update. At first, it was around new feature updates, however, in the past few months, even the cumulative updates have managed to throw a few curve balls at Windows users. It appears that Microsoft has finally decided to test these monthly updates before pushing them to everyone. Microsoft has released a new cumulative update to Windows 10 1809 October 2018 Update, but the update is currently only available to the Release Preview ring. KB4476976 aka build 17763.288 brings some Action Center fixes and improvements (via TF). Nothing big, but just the fact that the company has decided to push them to the Insiders before releasing them to the public gives us hope that this might become a regular thing. 11. Microsoft's killer Windows 7 patch: Breaks networking, flags legit PCs as 'Not genuine' Some Windows 7 admins are feeling the pain of Microsoft's latest updates in this week's Patch Tuesday releases. Thankfully for Microsoft, hardworking admins continue to spot bugs that it didn't detect during pre-release testing. This time they've found that its January security updates are bricking Windows 7 devices with an errant 'Not Genuine' Windows license error, and a bug that blocks administrator access to remote shares on Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. The issues stem from the Monthly Rollup update, KB4480970, and the security-only update, KB4480960, for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Günter Born's Borncity was first to report the Windows 7 Genuine brick and the separate network share issues bundled in these updates. READ FULL STORY at the source -> ZDNET Website

  14. OK, lets wait on either @LiquidTension or @AdvancedSetup so they can review the logs and see what may be going on here.
  15. Like you, I would also like to see the OPT-IN option. As for the recent 3.x update uninstalling your Bitdefender, that can not be as Malwarebytes does not uninstall any Antivirus programs, not sure what happened there. That being said, if you do install the latest version and it installs with the Trial, you can always go to the Settings -> Account Details tab and end the trial there.
  16. Have you by chance place exclusions in your Norton Internet Security for Malwarebytes? Malwarebytes for Windows antivirus exclusions list
  17. Hello and Welcome... Sorry for the delay, its possible that @dcollins is away on vacation or something... Please provide a fresh set of logs and perhaps @LiquidTension can have a look at them for you.
  18. If you use the tool to do a clean re-install, it will preserve your key.
  19. Hello and Welcome... By reset windows, do you mean re-install or do a system restore? To Deactivate Malwarebytes simply go to Settings -> Account Details -> Deactivate License Once your are done doing what you want with windows, then simply re-install Malwarebytes and activate it with your License Key Or is there something else you are wanting to do?
  20. While we wait for someone from staff to review your logs... I see your are running Malwarebytes in compatibility mode, that can cause problems. I also see that this file is pending a rename after a reboot, have you rebooted your computer? C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe I see you are running MB in compatibility mode. Please remove those settings. Then restart your computer. Go to the folder C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\ Find the file mbam.exe and right click on it and choose Properties In the window that pops up click on Compatibility Tab Remove any changes there that don't match my picture below and click Apply/OK
  21. I agree, the consumers that buy computers at box stores always end up with home version..
