This link IS NOT working to manually downlooad the database.

It's strange as you have a great program yet we cannot get a manual download of the database.

When i clean a computer of Virus, I boot into safe mode install Malwar5ebytes and update the database manually with whatever ver I have.

Then asfter cleaning, I boot to regular mde and update then advise all customers to purchase Malwarebytes for full protection.

Please make the Database avail manually.

thanks

Bill

Thanks to you Firefox, you answered the very question I had. Two machines, one sick, transfer Rules.ref to rescan the sick machine.

BUT....after installing Rules.Ref and then invoking Malwarebytes it refuses to come up to the splash screen and instead displays the Malwarebyes' error message:

An error occurred. Please report the following error code to the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware support team. Error Code: 730 (0, 0)

Any ideas what I might do. I think I've got a strange alien on that computer. Yesterday it shut down Avira and refuses to let Malwarebytes run. So I've got it offline.

Hi BFlat -

Your problem is an outdated version - As you do not list your Operating System , please select yours and follow the directions -

Any further problems please post back - Malwarebytes error (730) = Outdated version , Microsoft error (0,0) = No other problems -

If using the paid version , please keep your Key and ID safe so it can be reinstalled -

To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read Carefully

Windows XP:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel
  • Open Add/Remove Programs
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here -

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from Here

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Paid version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your

Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Thank You - :)

I suppose that a new way of doing it manually will then be announced as well or am I mistaken....

There is a possibility that the developers will work on a new manual update utility. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to say anything about it, and I don't really have much info anyway.

Do you have ETA for 1.47 so that we may guess? :)

It is possible that a beta may be ready in the next few weeks. The developers are working very hard, and they hope to have that beta available as soon as they can. :)

I would like to point out that this method of manually updating the database will no longer work once the new incremental update system is in-place.

What about using the rules.ref method? Will that still work once the incremental update system is in place?

No. That will break everything once incremental updates are implemented.

That's unfortunate, but makes sense.

Would you be able to elaborate a little bit though, I don't totally get it. Would using rules.ref from the machine its pulled from break the Malwarebytes on the system that is otherwise unable to update? Or is using rules.ref just not possible period once the incremental updates are implemented? Or would rules.ref basically just not exist anymore?

Incremental updates means that MBAM would be using multiple defs files like AV's do now instead of a single rules.ref file.
