  1. exile360's post in [ RESOLVED ] Malwarebytes 3.6.1 Issues was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
Please do the following to see if it helps (please be sure to download/run a fresh copy of the Support Tool as it appears you're using an older build according to the logs you posted):

Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair) Click the Clean button, and allow it to restart your system and then reinstall Malwarebytes, either by allowing the tool to do so when it offers to on restart, or by downloading and installing the latest version from here

Please let us know how it goes, and if it fails, then please create a fresh set of logs using the Malwarebytes Support Tool and attach the resulting ZIP file:

Run the Malwarebytes Support Tool Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair) Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

    Thanks
  2. exile360's post in MB 3.6.1.2711 update keeps stalling was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
It sounds like the installation process had issues so I would recommend trying a clean install of 3.6.1 to see if that helps:

Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool Accept the EULA and click Advanced Options on the main page (not Get Started) Click the Clean button, and allow it to restart your system and then reinstall Malwarebytes, either by allowing the tool to do so when it offers to on restart, or by downloading and installing the latest version from here

Please let us know how it goes.
    Thanks
  3. exile360's post in New Motherboard was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
Yes, it most likely will see this as a new system so if you can you should deactivate it first.  In case you require instructions, just open Malwarebytes and click on the My Account button at the top right and then click on the Deactivate License button located at the bottom.  Once that's done you may then migrate the drive to the new system/board and once Windows is up and running on the new system, you may then re-enter your license info and it should be able to activate without any issues, though if you do have any problems please let us know and we'll do our best to assist.
Also keep in mind that while unlikely, it is possible that migrating the software to the new system may cause it to malfunction.  If this occurs, which you'll notice immediately based on it failing to open properly and possibly displaying an error message of some kind, then all you need to do is download and install the latest version from here and it should correct the issue (no need to uninstall the existing copy first, just install it over the top).
If there is anything else we might assist you with please don't hesitate to post.
    Thanks
  4. exile360's post in Can't open Malwarebytes Premium - ..because mbcut.dll was not found was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
Yes, reinstalling the program should fix this.  There seems to be an issue that occurs occasionally with one of the program updates that causes this and I believe the team is investigating it.  In the meantime, the installer for both free and Premium is the same, the only difference is that free converts to Premium once your license information is entered so all you need to do is download and install the latest version from here and then restart your system, then open Malwarebytes and go to Settings>About and verify that both of the following version numbers match what is shown in the image below:

If the second number doesn't match, then go to the Application sub-tab and click on the Install Application Updates button and allow it to download and install the patch, then once it is installed, verify that the version info matches the above image and restart your system to make sure that the latest components are loaded and that Malwarebytes is now working properly.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Thanks
  5. exile360's post in why am I being bombarded by this notification? was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
It appears that one of the plugins/extensions installed in Chrome is most likely causing this.  That website, boostbox.com.br is a known Cryptocurrency mining website and this is why Malwarebytes blocks it.  The fact that it shows as being blocked whenever you open Chrome leads me to believe that there is probably a plugin installed in your browser that is trying to use your CPU for mining Cryptocurrency.
You can find more information here, here as well as here (that last site indicates that boostbox.com.br is in fact a cryptocurrency mining website).
If you scan with Malwarebytes and it is not detecting any Chrome extensions, then you may need to scan using ADWCleaner and hopefully it will find and remove the plugin/extension in Chrome that is causing this.  If it does not, then please follow the instructions in this topic and create a new topic in the malware removal area of the forums containing the requested logs and information by clicking here and one of our malware removal specialists will help you to check and clean your computer.  If you would prefer to receive help privately via email then you may contact Malwarebytes Support by filling out the form on this page and they will respond to you as soon as they are able to.

  7. exile360's post in Can't eject or move files on my connected USB Flash Drive was marked as the answer
    Greetings and welcome,
This is most likely due to a known issue with Ransomware Protection, especially if you are currently running any version older than the latest 3.4.5 of Malwarebytes.  If that is the case then you should install the latest version by opening Malwarebytes and navigating to Settings>Application and clicking on the Install Application Updates button then approving the prompts to download/install the new version.  If that fails or if you'd rather download and install it directly then you may get the latest version from here.
Please let us know if this resolves the issue or not and if you have any additional questions or issues.
    Thanks
  8. exile360's post in Malwarebytes Hack? was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
If the notification is from Malwarebytes then it should show up in your tray above the Malwarebytes tray icon.  There was a new version recently released that replaced version 3.4.4 so the latest is now 3.4.5, so if you are using 3.4.5 you have the latest version already.
That said, if you wish to make certain you're installing the correct software, simply download the latest directly from here.
If this does not resolve the issue then it could be some kind of scam being caused by a malware or PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) infestation, and if so, then we will assist you (at absolutely no charge as our services are free).  If this is the case or you suspect the system may be infected, then please follow the instructions in this topic and then clicking here to create a new topic in the malware removal area and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you once they are available in checking and cleaning your system.
Please let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with.
    Thanks
  9. exile360's post in trying to download the new version but I get an error ShellExecuteEx failed was marked as the answer
Excellent, it sounds like the service or something was getting hung up there.  I've had this happen on occasion doing upgrades on my own system, and I figured that might be the issue you guys have been experiencing (even though I never got the error messages you did, but likely because I didn't wait long enough as I had a tendency to kill processes/services when the hang would occur after a while).
As long as everything is working OK now and all protection is up and running then you should be fine, but please do let us know immediately if any further issues do crop up and we'll take a look and try to get it fixed.
Just FYI, I have been tracking these various upgrade issues and have been reporting them to the Product team for review because I do believe there are some outlying issues with the upgrade process under certain conditions which are going to require a fix or two in how the install/upgrade process functions (I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that often times the installer for a new version will launch MBAMService.exe into memory, which obviously prevents it from being replaced so the install hangs up until MBAMService is terminated, but that's not the only issue I'm seeing).
  10. exile360's post in No Premium Key was marked as the answer
    Greetings and welcome,
I'm sorry for the issue you're experiencing with your lifetime license.  The most expedient option would most likely be to contact Support directly via one of the options on this page and they should be able to assist you with this in order to get your lifetime licensed version up and running on your new system.
    Thanks
  11. exile360's post in Malwarebytes 3 and Windows Defender was marked as the answer
That is one option, however if you'd like to configure it to update more frequently (without having to enable Automatic Updates for Windows Update; which by the way is normally how Windows Defender receives its definition and program updates), then you can follow the tutorial on this page.  Also, just FYI, those same instructions also apply to Microsoft Security Essentials (the full antivirus from Microsoft based on Windows Defender that they offer for free for users of Windows Vista and Windows 7, and the same product that ships with Windows 8/8.1/10 that got renamed to Windows Defender in those newer Windows versions).
If you wish to use Microsoft Security Essentials instead of just Windows Defender (which is basically an anti-spyware/anti-Trojan application, not quite a full antivirus like Microsoft Security Essentials) then you can get it here or here.
  12. exile360's post in MBAM causes heavy lags when mounting ISO with RS4 (17127 or 17133) was marked as the answer
Version 3.4.4 is known to have issues within its Ransomware Protection component which may cause issues like this.  These issues have since been corrected in the latest version, 3.4.5 which was released yesterday and may be downloaded directly from here or you may open Malwarebytes and go to Settings>Application and click the Install Application Updates button and you should be offered the new version.
Once version 3.4.5 is installed, please check to verify that the issue is now resolved if you wouldn't mind and have the time, and let us know how it goes.
    Thanks
  13. exile360's post in 3.4.5 block youtube? was marked as the answer
Same here, I just tested both regular videos and live streams on YouTube and I'm having no issues at all.
Please try right-clicking the Malwarebytes tray icon and selecting Quit Malwarebytes then see if you're able to load the videos/streams.  If you still aren't able to then the problem can't be Malwarebytes because it completely removes itself from memory when you quit/exit the tray.
  14. exile360's post in 50% CPU Usage after waking up PC. was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
The next time this occurs please try disabling just the Ransomware Protection component in Malwarebytes (right-click the Malwarebytes tray icon and click where it says Ransomware Protection: On) and let us know if that eliminates the high CPU usage.
If it does, then it is likely that this is being caused by a known issue with Ransomware Protection which should be fixed in the next version of Malwarebytes due for release in the coming weeks.
Please let me know how it goes.
    Thanks
  15. exile360's post in Help! won't update was marked as the answer
Considering the age of the version you have installed you should probably uninstall it first just to be safe, then reboot the computer, then install the new version.
  16. exile360's post in Is an anti virus needed with Malwarebytes? was marked as the answer
    Greetings and welcome
It is totally up to you, however some additional information on the subject can be found in our FAQ in this post.
The short answer is that we do believe that Malwarebytes 3 Premium is sufficient protection, even without an antivirus, to keep a system safe from all current online threats, however Malwarebytes always has been and continues to be designed to be compatible in real-time alongside other security solutions if desired by the user, including antivirus software.  So if you would prefer to have the additional layer of security that an active antivirus provides, go ahead and install one, however Malwarebytes alone should be sufficient to keep your system safe online if you would prefer to use it alone.
Also, if you do choose to run an antivirus, you don't necessarily have to spend extra money to do so as there are several excellent free options available including Windows Defender which is included with every version of Windows since 8, Microsoft Security Essentials which can be installed on Vista and Windows 7, as well as other free AVs like Avira, AVG, Avast!, Bitdefender, COMODO, and the free version of Kaspersky, any of which should work alongside Malwarebytes 3.
  17. exile360's post in Malwarebytes Windows Notifications was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
Unfortunately short of disabling notifications in Malwarebytes, there is currently no way to disable those individual notifications after scans etc.  Eventually they do intend to offer more granular control over individual types of notifications, but for the time being we just have to live with them or disable them completely.
My personal recommendation in your case would be to just disable notifications when gaming that way you aren't interrupted.  Once you're done with your gaming session, you can open Malwarebytes and check your Dashboard and Reports tabs to see if anything critical is going on or has been detected while you were gaming (you can sort the items in the Reports tab by Date and Time starting with the most recent by clicking on that column at the top twice in the list of reports/logs).
  18. exile360's post in realtime protection desactivated was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
It appears you are using version 3.3.1.  The most recent version of Malwarebytes is the recently released 3.4.4 which includes several improvements and bugfixes, including several for issues related to various protection components failing to start.  Please open Malwarebytes and go to Settings>Application and click on the Install Application Updates button and allow it to download and install the new version, rebooting if prompted to complete the installation process.
If that fails for any reason then please try downloading and installing it directly from here.
Please let us know how it goes and if the issue persists or not.
    Thanks
  19. exile360's post in Virus - usb network adapter was marked as the answer
Yes, it should be perfectly safe.  The USB network adapter doesn't have any flash memory/storage for spyware/malware to write any data to, so it can't be infected that way.
  20. exile360's post in 3.4.4 : planned scans keep turning off was marked as the answer
I suspect this may be due to corruption in the configuration file that controls scheduled scans.  Please follow the instructions in this support article to perform a clean installation of Malwarebytes to see if that resolves the issue.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Thanks
  21. exile360's post in Real time web protection doesn't start was marked as the answer
    Greetings and welcome,
It appears you're running an older version of Malwarebytes 3 and this is likely the cause of the issue as older versions were known to sometimes have problems with certain protection components, including Web Protection, failing to start/stay enabled.
Open Malwarebytes and go to Settings>Application and click on the Install Application Updates button and allow it to download and install the new version.
If that fails then please download and install the latest version from here and that should resolve the issue.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Thanks
  22. exile360's post in How stop popups for MW3 upgrade? was marked as the answer
You should be able to disable automatic upgrades by turning off the settings circled in the below image:

You can also go to C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService\instlrupdate and delete the installer found there if there is one (that's the location where new upgrade versions are stored when downloaded).
I hope that helps.  Please let us know if there's anything else we might assist you with.
  23. exile360's post in would it be safe to turn off mbam while playing videogames? was marked as the answer
Try disabling just the Ransomware Protection component to see if that helps.  Many have reported that performance issues they've noticed with Malwarebytes were alleviated once the Ransomware Protection component was disabled.  There's a fix currently in testing for this issue that is planned to be included in the next release which is expected to be coming up soon, assuming all goes well with testing.
  24. exile360's post in Where are preferences stored? was marked as the answer
    Greetings,
The preferences, settings and exclusions are pretty much all stored under C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\MBAMService within various configuration files within subdirectories of that location.  There are also a few items stored in the registry under HKCU\Software\Malwarebytes and HKLM\Software\Malwarebytes.  I also located the file C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\serviceconfig.json which I believe to be an additional config file, though I don't know what settings it contains.  In all likelihood however, most of what you're looking for (if not all of it) will be found in the ProgramData folder.
The majority of config files are in an encrypted format so you won't be able to read them outside of the program itself, but you should be able to create backup copies of the files in an alternate location to restore later if needed.
  25. exile360's post in Antivirus? was marked as the answer
While technically not an antivirus, they do now market the product as an antivirus replacement.  The reason for this is because due to the nature of all modern threats, the multiple layers of protection and detection included in Malwarebytes 3 are suited to protect a system from all current types of threats, including the most common and prominent threats such as ransomware and exploits, both of which are specifically targeted by signature-less, behavior based protection components that do not rely on database updates to be effective, even against previously unseen variants of threats of these categories.  Additionally, Malwarebytes 3 includes several other layers, some of which use more traditional signatures as well as more advanced heuristics algorithms to detect and prevent threats and Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs).
That said, should you choose to do so, you may still use an antivirus or virtually any other type of additional security software to protect your system alongside Malwarebytes, as it is still designed to run safely alongside other security solutions and to avoid conflicts.
If you do wish to still use a separate antivirus but you don't want to have to pay for a second product you may use the built in Windows Defender in Windows 8/8.1/10 or install Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows Vista/7.  There are also other free AVs out there if you desire one such as Avast!, Avira, AVG, Bitdefender, the recently released free version of Kaspersky, and COMODO to name a few.
Whether you choose to run an AV or not is entirely up to you, and the team behind Malwarebytes does believe that it is sufficient on its own to keep your systems safe, however they also believe that customers should have the choice to decide for themselves what layers of protection they desire so they do their best to keep Malwarebytes compatible with other solutions so that their users may add these additional layers of protection if they wish.
