rogx Posted April 9, 2018 ID:1231278 Share Posted April 9, 2018 In the last week I've had issues where I am using yahoo, word processing or game programs that are interrupted by a notice of a new malwarebyte update. The notice blacks out my screen except for the notice. I click no to install it and the notice goes away but my computer then runs erratically afterwords and sometimes screen goes black requiring a reset. I've scanned system using malwarebytes and windows and found no problems. I checked Malewarebytes site and it says last update was 6 March so I'm wondering it this is some kind of hack that is using Malewarebytes to infiltrate my computer. I don't know much about computers so much of what I've read concerning hacks and checking my system is jibberish to me. Is this really a Malewarebytes update or is it a hack? Solution exile360 Posted April 9, 2018 Solution ID:1231282 Share Posted April 9, 2018 Greetings, If the notification is from Malwarebytes then it should show up in your tray above the Malwarebytes tray icon. There was a new version recently released that replaced version 3.4.4 so the latest is now 3.4.5, so if you are using 3.4.5 you have the latest version already. That said, if you wish to make certain you're installing the correct software, simply download the latest directly from here. If this does not resolve the issue then it could be some kind of scam being caused by a malware or PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) infestation, and if so, then we will assist you (at absolutely no charge as our services are free). If this is the case or you suspect the system may be infected, then please follow the instructions in this topic and then clicking here to create a new topic in the malware removal area and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you once they are available in checking and cleaning your system. Please let us know if there is anything else we might assist you with. Thanks
