  2. Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes.... First things first, I am glad that Malwarebytes was able to help you get your computer clean. Second and to answer your question, Malwarebytes is not really an anti-virus program, it is designed to work hand in hand with your anti-virus program. It will give you a second layer of protection and help so that you do not get infected. It usually catches what your Anti-Virus software misses. The info that you got from whoever you talked (support staff) to is not entirely correct. Just because their software was not able to detect the virus does not mean it is your fault. Malware and viruses have a tendency of hiding from being detected. Buying Malwarebytes full version would be a good idea, its not expensive and its a lifetime license and you get free support wheather you buy it or not. Well worth the price. Should you buy the full version there are steps that you will have to take to exclude Malwarebytes files from conflicting with your anti-virus software. (For example here are the exception instructions for Norton 360 Located Here Hope this answers your question.

Hello and Please try the following to see if it helps: (Note: you must have admin rights it install) Windows XP: Click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add/Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.   4. I used the norton one as well, I created a network boot disk and cloned it to images onto another computer, then I verified the images worked before I went and did anything with the server.
  5. Glad you got it sorted out. More than likely it was the malware that removed you file associations and not Malwarebytes itself. All the same glad to hear it worked for you.

  9. If you are trying to reload windows, and format your Hard drive, and during the copy of the files to the hard disk from the cd and you get an error of missing files, it could mean your cd disk is either dirty, or your cd rom drive may be faulty.

  11. to suppress the hotlink you can just put hxxp:// instead of http or you can put the http part in italic font and that will do it.
  12. Hello and As for the best schedule, that all depends on your surfing habbits and how much you use your computer. Everyones needs are different. I have mine set as follows: I update mine every hour on the hour. (this insures I have the latest update when I run any scans) I have mine to scan daily everyday at 12PM (thats my lunch hour). Hope that answers your question.
  13. More than likely it is due to the malware Defense Center closing out the program to prevent you from cleaning the system. Please follow the instructions by noknojon to get advice from the experts.   15. I have been using a combination of AVG9 and Malwarebytes for some time without any issues. I would upgrade your AVG 8.5 to version 9 and then add the exclusions for Malwarebytes in AVG 9 as per instructions located in Section H RIGHT HERE!   16. I think this is a good idea, McAfee Corp Edition has this feature and I love it. It prevents anything from turning off my protection without a password supplied.

  22. Can you tell us when it starts to freeze? Does it start that scan and get so far and freeze on the same location?
