  1. Hello and Welcome to Malwarebytes..... Not on the staff, but I am sure they would say your are Welcome. Malwarebytes is a very good program and has saved millions of folks just like you. As for issues between Symantec Endpoint Protection and Malwarebytes, I use both and I have no issues. I have however entered the exceptions for Malwarebytes files into Symantec just in case but I have no issues.
  2. Hello and You may have more than one issue going on there, lets try one at a time.... Sounds like a Visual Basic Error..... Please download and install the Microsoft Visual Basic Common Controls from HERE
  3. Your Welcome, don't hesitate to give us a status or ask should you have other questions....
  4. Just To Add.... The ones for me were not from the windows update, they were done from the MS direct download as well, I thinks some computers just take a while to finish it. Like I said my took several hours not sure how long as I went to bed after 2 hours had passed. You could just un-install it like excile stated and then re-install it.
  5. If you are running the the Pro version of malwarebytes and have the IP Blocker enabled, and you go to that site and it is blocked, then more than likely is is not safe and you should stay away from it. If by chance its a false positive, you can report it in the false positive section and they can review the site to make sure its safe. As far as recommending one, there are so many to choose from and everyone has different tastes depending what they like. I have used several before and they pretty much do the same thing.
  6. The whirl can be a cooling fan, wire rubbing on one of the fans, a CD in the CD ROM drive, or the hard drive. The diagnostics you need to run, are Hard drive diagnostics (you can get the tool from your hard drive manufacture), motherboard, memory, etc. A good tool to use for some of these is Hirens boot CD for example.
  7. just recently I installed SP3 on a computer that had SP2 on it. It installed fine, and like you it stayed in the cleaning stage for some time, I let it run for about 2 hours and it was still there, it was getting late so I just went to bed and left it that way. I am not sure how long it stayed that way, but when I checked it in the morning (about 5 hours later) it was done, and it was waiting for me to hit Restart. I would try and re-install the SP3 so that it could finish doing what is was doing, and just let it sit there till it gets done, now if it goes all night, there may be other issues we may need to look at.
  8. You can update the database, see Section A Issue #4 LOCATED HERE Here is what it states: ISSUE: I need to get the latest database onto a computer that cannot access the Internet. SOLUTION: You can manually copy the database from a working computer using a flash drive or CD onto the infected PC. Our database file is stored in the following locations. Windows XP and 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref You can also download a manual update from HERE - NOTE: This manual update will always be way behind in version level compared to updates from within the program
  9. Hello and Sorry you have had a hard time getting a response, I know they are very busy and they currently have hired some new folks to help with the backlog and are currently being trained. I am not with the staff, but I know you can send a PM to AdvancedSetup HERE with all your contact information and details and he will make sure you get taken care of. Oh by the way not sure if you knew, but Malwarebytes is not an Anti-Virus solution and is not intended to replace your current anti-virus software, it is designed to work along with your current anti-virus software to compliment it and detect what your anti-virus software fails to catch. Hope this helps you....
  10. If you were able to quarantine all the items if found, rebooted and perform another quick scan and it comes back clean more than likely you are good to go. Although you have some additional items that need attention.... Here is what you can do to make sure: You are running Windows XP SP2 (Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180) and Internet Explorer 6. Both SP2 and IE6 are quite outdated, you should consider updating to SP3 and IE8 and doing all critical updates afterwards. Then if you don't already have anti-virus software, install one and update it and run a full scan. After that is done and you did not find any more infections that needed removal, you should be OK.
  11. As this seems that Malwarebytes is being used in a corporate environment...... See below: Please send an email to Corporate Support Team <corporate-support@malwarebytes.org> with your Cleverbridge order reference number and they will assist you.
  12. By a download scanner, do you mean something like an Online Scanner that uses ActiveX perhaps.... That would be a good idea, not sure how feasible and effective it would be though....
  13. There are so many to choose from, most important thing to remember is which ever one you go with is keep it current and up to date. I use a combination of 4 of them, that's because it depends which computer I am using at the time. IE 8 at work Opera on my MAC Safari on my MAC Firefox at random times. some folks will steer you away from this browser or that browser..... but its a matter of which one you like yourself. Please note that IE is probably the least secure (and that is probably only cause its the most commonly used so it gets attacked the most).
  14. I would run some diagnostics tools on the computer. Also, since its a desktop, how is the inside look, is it dusty, are all cooling fans working up to speed, any obstructions on the air flow? PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.
  15. did you install and update Malwarebytes and then run a quick scan to make sure you are still not infected. Also have you added exceptions to your anti-virus and firewall settings to exclude the malwarebytes files?
  16. Hello, and welcome to malwarebytes.org The malware infection has 'hijacked' your exe file association in the Registry, together with altering other settings on your computer. This is why your programs will not run properly. But it is the policy of this forum that we can only work on malware related problems in the Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs forum, not in the other general forums. Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine. NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post. If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again. Or You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible. PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.
  17. Please give some more info, like system specs, operating system, ram, versions.... Also what help section helped you, and did you have malware or viruses on your computer?
  18. Gald you figured it out, you need to exclude the Malwarebytes files from your anti-virus software and firewall..... Please exclude the following files from your antivirus: Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE from it as well Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products Please post back and let us know how it went.

  20. @ IWillDoWindows you have to enter the exceptions for MBAM into your CA products (both av and firewall) like listed below..... 21. Looks like you are doing a scan with version 1.44 which is quite outdated..... Lets try this first.... Please try the following to see if it helps: Windows XP: Click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add/Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

  23. It can not be installed in dos mode, and it can not be installed in a flash drive (to make it run from the flash drive). You can however copy the install file onto a flash drive to use the installer to install on another computer, but Malwarebytes needs to be run on the computer that its installed on, and preferably in Normal Mode.
  24. I am glad it worked for you, if you have any other issues or questions don't hesitate to ask.
  25. if you use limewire or Ares, or any P2P software it will cause this IP Block popups.
