Please try the following to see if it helps: Windows XP: Click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add/Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.
  2. Not on the Malwarebytes Staff, but I believe that it is not possible. It will run in safe mode, but bear in mind that Malwarebytes was designed and works best when run in Windows Normal mode. If I am wrong I am sure one of the staff folks will clarify and correct me.

Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.   5. Just to add, I work on computers for a living and have been doing it for over 25 years. I install SP3 many times too, and have done it hundreds of times. I have really never had problems installing it, and in most cases it improved system performance. The only time I have encountered problems is usually when someone brings me a PC that does not have a valid copy of windows. It will not install if it fails authentication. Other than that, I think it would be a good idea to upgrade to the latest service pack, then do updates again to catch up with all current updates.
  6. Norton Security Scan is not a full anti-virus software package.... If you have Avast v5 and Malwarebytes fully updated you should be fine with that. You can safely uninstall Norton Security Scan....
  7. @ YoKenny1, it may be possible that the Norton Security Scan could be the little tool that gets installed with Java sometimes..... but not sure? But indeed it is not a good idea to use more than one AV at the same time.

  10. you can just run the one from your desktop to re-install it now. That is fine.
  11. It is best to leave it as is, if you do change it, and your anti-virus and malwarebytes starts at the same time it could lock up your system. Maybe not completely but it would take like 10 minutes for your desktop to come up and everything would run slooooooowwww. If you do want to change it (at your own risk) In windows 7 Go to Control Panel, then click on All Control Panel Items, then Administrative Tools. Once there click on Services. Go down the list and find MBAMService and double click on it. Under Startup Type: Change it from Automatic (Delayed Start) to just Automatic Click on OK Then restart the computer and test it out. I would strongly recommend that you have file exclusions in your anti-virus software for MBAM before you do this though.

  13. You are correct, in windows vista and windows 7 the service set to delayed start by default.
  14. to answer your first part, you can click on Add Reply on the top of the page, or at the bottom of the page..... the reply next to your post, quotes the post you click on. When you run the mbam-clean.exe and you get this error, it is normal, it means that clean tool had nothing to do (I know the wording could be better on the error code). All you have to do now is download a fresh copy of mbam-setup 1.46.exe and install it and update it.
  15. Hello and I would run a quick scan with malwarebytes and also a scan with my anti-virus software first.... could be a false positive from norton security scan....

  17. Currently they are focused on MBAM and quite busy at keeping Malwarebytes up to date to fight current infections and keep our computers safe from malicious software.

  21. One should really heed the alarms of their antivirus software to prevent getting infected, sorry to say, if you ignor the warnings, then perhaps you broght the trouble on yourself.... Messing around with cracks you are only asking for trouble....
  22. good list there, but you were using the free version of Malwarebytes, if you would have been using the full version and the protection module enabled, more than likely you would have received a pop-up from Malwarebytes asking you to quarantine it, or it would have blocked the website from installing it.

Malware and viruses are ever changing and Malwarebyes trys to stay ahead of the infections out there, but like any other program sometimes things get by.
  24. The freezing can be due to the infection you had, or may still have, or also you may have to exclude the malwarebytes files from your anti-virus software.
