  1. @ FramePC From what I understand this clean up tool ensures that anything left behind by MBAM after the uninstall including registry keys related to MBAM get cleaned up and removed to ensure a proper and clean removal.
  2. Could you give us a little more info on your server? Like what other sercurity apps are you using on it. What Antivirus Software?
  3. @ JamesJ If you create another account, YES you will be prompted to log in as one or the other user everytime you turn on your computer. You could also switch between users once logged in.
  4. It has been my personal experience and preference to not use an infected computer to connect to another computer while it is infected to prevent the spread of the virus/malware. I would get the computer cleaned up first.
  5. @swagger I was just saying that cause if you are having to restart your computer too many times during the day due to lockups or hardware failure, then perhaps we would have to see whats causing that first before we can blame MBAM. Also the sites that are getting blocked could be sites he should really not be visiting since they may be infected.... But since its all an unknown at the moment we could only assume....
  6. Why would one require to restart their system so many times per day?
  7. I update mine at random times during the day, it does not hurt to do this, and it keeps us safer this way.
  8. I have had great success renameing the file from *.exe to *.com and that seems to help in a lot of cases.
  9. Not to contradict what you are saying exile360, but I have not heard of this, I always assumed it went by file name exclusion and not the version of the file. I always have set the excluded files on my AV and forget about it. I never go and update it again, and it seems to continue to exclude them. Why would an AV company make you go in there and check your exclusions every time there is an update? Am I missing something? By all means correct me if I am wrong....
  10. The IP protection is not very friendly with P2P and file-sharing software, you can temporarily disable the IP Protection from the system tray.
  11. Greetings and Welcome . If you're having trouble getting Malwarebytes' and other tools to update or run please review the following tutorials and see if they are helpful: Total-Security (FakeAlert) av360 (Fakealert) CLB Rootkit driver=TDSS/Seneka/GAOPDX/UAC/ovfst SystemSecurity If you aren't able to use those instructions or there are other issues then please follow the instructions here: I'm infected - What do I do now? And post your logs in a new topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs Please be sure not to install any software or use any removal or scanning tools except those that you are instructed to by the expert who will be assisting you as doing so can make their job much more difficult. note: if for some reason you are unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just post here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs describing your issues and an expert will reply with further instructions. I hope I was helpful. Good luck and safe surfing.
  12. All three services together are 46MB..... that's OK by me....
  13. Drive by downloads are a pain and they exist. I know that for a while www.foxnews.com was infected cause I had some users that, that was the only site they visit, and all of them got hit on the same day. I called foxnews.com and they corrected the issue. so I say leave it on.....
  14. Does Malwarebytes scan the host file? I was working on a friends computer and had removed some malware off of it. It starting working great. I thought I was done until I tried to do searches in google or bing. No matter what I searched for, it would give me a page not found. After working on it for a bit, trying different tools, resetting IE, removing google toolbar and reinstalling it, something told me to check the hosts file. I found that the host file had been set to Hidden, and could not be deleted or modified. It had entries in there for all searches to get redirected to some ip addresses. (and since malware bytes was installed it was probably blocking the page) I renamed that host file and then created a new host file with default settings and then the pc was fixed. Anywho, does it scan it?
  15. Well I can see his point, but I for one prefer to have it enabled. I sure don't want to be searching the web and get hit by a fly by download that may have been on that page. Far as I am concerned, if the page gets blocked, I shouldn't have been then in the first place probably. And if I know its really a safe site, I can always temporary disable the feature.
  16. I am with everyone on this too..... Great Job.....!!

  18. In my version of AVG, I click on Tools (top menu option) Then Click on Advanced Settings Go down the list to Resident Shield and expand it Then you will see Exceptions
  19. Just to add what exile360 stated: It is a common practice for developers to make quick fixes due to demand from users as quick registry modifications like what the team in Malwarebytes did. All software developers that I deal with make these sorts of fixes. They are quick and most likely fix the issues at hand, and it allows them to come up with the fixes almost immediately. Then the fix comes out on the new release at a later time. anyway just my 2 cents worth.....
  20. you could do it kind of like adobe does, when you click the help and about, it will give you your serial number, but some of it is missing.
