  3. Mexican Ghost Story This is a true story. It happened in Pecos New Mexico, and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's absolutely true: This guy was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark and stormy night. The night was cold and wet and no cars went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car coming toward him and stop. The guy, without thinking about it, got in the car, closed the door, and only then realized that there was nobody behind the wheel! The car starts going again, very slowly. The guy looks at the road and sees a curve coming his way. Scared, he starts to pray and begs for his life. Just before the car hits the curve, a hand appears through the window and turns the wheel. The guy, paralyzed in terror, watched how the hand appeared each time the car approached a curve. Gathering his strength, he gets out of the car and runs all the way to the nearest town. Wet and in shock, he goes into a cantina, asks for two shots of tequila and starts telling everybody about the horrible experience he just went through. A silence enveloped everyone when they realized the guy was crying hysterically and wasn't drunk. About a half hour later, two other guys walk into the same cantina and one said to the other, 'Mira, Pedro. That's the pinchi gringo that got in the car while we were pushing.
  4. you could also try and rename the file mbam.exe TO winlogon.exe and then run the scan and see if it finishes. Something I have tried as well is rename the file to winlogon.COM and that ran.
  5. Greetings and Welcome Alex . If you're having trouble getting Malwarebytes' and other tools to update or run please review the following tutorials and see if they are helpful: Total-Security (FakeAlert) av360 (Fakealert) CLB Rootkit driver=TDSS/Seneka/GAOPDX/UAC/ovfst SystemSecurity If you aren't able to use those instructions or there are other issues then please follow the instructions here: I'm infected - What do I do now? And post your logs in a new topic here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs Please be sure not to install any software or use any removal or scanning tools except those that you are instructed to by the expert who will be assisting you as doing so can make their job much more difficult. note: if for some reason you are unable to run some or any of the tools in the first link, then skip that step and move on to the next one. If you can't even run HijackThis, then just post here: Malware Removal - HijackThis Logs describing your issues and an expert will reply with further instructions. I hope I was helpful. 7. were you able to post your results of that in the HiJackthis section of the forum?
  8. @ whatmeworry? LOL that would be interesting if they had to take classes like that. I will tell you on thing though, I have had some parents start making their kids pay for repairs, cause I have fixed the kids computer more than twice for the same issue. The parent got tired of paying for the fix, so they had the kids pay. For those kids that had to pay for the repair, they have been more careful since it came out of their pockets.... I have some folks that bring me their computer in for repair every other month. I am not complaining ifs only more money for me, but you think they would eventually find out what it is that is causing them to get infected and have better surfing habbits.
  9. Some folks install Anti-Virus software on their computers, but then leave it, they don't bother to update it, or they let it expire and it no longer gets updated. This leaves the user exposed to the latest threats. Also a lot of malware and viruses out there are designed to disable your antivirus software, and turn off the notifications that it has been turned off, they do this even before you get infected. Then it infects your computer and takes over. Short of disconnecting form the Internet and never surfing again, there is no sure way to stop it. Safe surfing habits and education are the best ways as well as keeping your AV and AS software updated.
  10. Very intresting..... Thanks for sharing..... I do these more often than not....
  11. weather or not they get paid, they are doing an excellent job, and it is a full time job for sure, malware does not quit so its a 24/7 job....
  12. Welcome to the forum....
  13. Now those are nice, they must look really good on the bike too....
  14. ThomFrost thanks for the reminder on Stinger, I have that tool and have used it in the past, but somehow I had forgotten about it, but now I have downloaded the new version.
  15. Great, looking forward to getting that approved and working on our network then.
  16. yes updating in a corporate situation it is sometimes hard to update right away. For example if I upgrade to the new IE8, our web applications stop working. They will work all the way up to IE7 but not IE8. Something is different in IE8 that will not allow our web apps to run. So we are stuck staying in IE7 or lower until our web apps get re-written to work with version 8. These same things apply to service packs.
  17. I am currently looking at getting a corporate version for my company too. So the corporate version has more tools and options than the one you download for personal use?
