  1. Hi Porthos: As I said in my original post, I was able to install the latest Component Package v1.0.1070 on 14-Oct-2020, but I had to click Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates multiple times (and quit/restart Malwarebytes) before it installed properly. If no one else had problems installing Component Package v1.0.1070 then I'll just wait until the next product update is released and will perform a clean reinstall if the problem persists. I'm just wondering if there's a glitch with the built-in updater. I read pal1000's 14-Oct-2020 thread Sometimes Check for Updates UI Buttons Do Nothing, and Doctor9fan also stated <here> in that same thread that they cannot download product updates if they click Check for Updates immediately after a new Update Package version is installed. That doesn't sound like intended behaviour to me, unless I misunderstood their posts and that "threat intelligence updates" in MB Premium are completely different from the Update Package (malware database / virus definition set) in MB Free. ------------ 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.2 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  2. Has anyone else had trouble installing the latest Component Package v1.0.1070 (rel. 14-Oct-2020) after running a manual check for updates at Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates? I don't know if this is related to the problem pal1000 reported on 14-Oct-2020 in Sometimes Check for Updates UI Buttons Do Nothing (I think pal1000 uses MB Premium) but I noticed a similar issue when I tried to run a manual update check to install the latest Component Package v1.0.1070 on 14-Oct-2020. It took me three attempts at Settings | General | Application Updates | Check for Updates before I was finally prompted to restart Malwarebytes to finish the update and could see the version number of the Component Package had changed from v1.0.1061 to v1.0.1070 at Settings | About. During the first two update attempts the progress bar for the installer appeared to show files were being downloaded but I was never prompted to restart Malwarebytes to complete the installation, and Settings | About showed I still had Component Package v1.0.1061. Manually opening and closing the interface didn't complete the update, and I believe I also tried shutting down (quitting) the program and relaunching. I did not try a shutdown/restart of my Win 10 OS. I waited for about 30 minutes and the manual update to Component Package v1.0.1070 eventually ran to completion on the third try. Note that this manual update problem occurred on a fresh install of Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1-0-1061 that was installed on 05-Oct-2020. Win 10 Fast Startup is disabled and I created mutual scan exclusions in both Malwarebytes and Windows Defender on 07-Oct-2020. mbst-grab-results.zip ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.2 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  3. As an end user who's used Malwarebytes for over a decade I just wanted to provide feedback to Malwarebytes and let them know that I found the logic flow for their revised stub installer (I used MBSetup.exe v4.1.1.186) was somewhat confusing after I chose "Maybe Later", and don't understand if entering the optional e-mail address during installation has any affect on whether users receive the 14-day trial of Premium features or Malwarebytes Free (i.e., with Premium features locked out). I'll leave it to Malwarebytes to decide if my feedback is useful or not. I don't know if my experience uncovered a glitch in the stub installer or if this is now intended behaviour, but continuing to speculate on why I ended up with Malwarebytes Free (with Premium features locked out) isn't going to help me now. The Malwarebytes employees who re-designed the installer are the only ones who could tell us that. I only own one Premium license and it's currently in use on a Vista SP2 test machine that has no other real-time AV protection, so I'll have to decide for myself now if I want try a clean reinstall on my Win 10 machine to see if I get the 14-day trial this time or to deactivate that license and temporarily transfer it to my Win 10 machine so I can see how well MB Premium v4.2.1 runs in real-time protection mode with my Windows Defender AV. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  4. Hi exile360: That's what I expected - that after I finished my installation that the 14-day trial of the Premium features would be activated and that I would have to go to Settings | Account | Deactivate to manually switch to Malwarebytes Free (or wait 14 days for the trial to end) - but that's not what happened. I answered "Maybe Later" and declined to enter my email and ended up with Malwarebytes Free (i.e., with the Premium features locked out). Even if Malwarebytes used the MAC address to confirm that I'd never activated a Premium license on this particular device, why assume that I didn't want to try the 14-day trial of the Premium features this time? If they're going to redesign the installation wizard, why not just give the user the option of installing the 14-day trial or Malwarebytes Free instead of making that decision for them? I'm still unclear about the role of entering an email address (an optional step) during the installation. According to the final paragraph of the support article Download and Install Malwarebytes for Windows (revised 09-Sep-2020) "Once you have chosen to activate a Malwarebytes Premium subscription, activate a 14-day trial, or use the Malwarebytes Free version, you are taken to the main Dashboard of the program. Malwarebytes is successfully installed on your Windows device." That sounds like there are two different installation streams when you answer "Maybe Later" - one for the 14-day trial and one for Malwarebytes Free (i.e, with Premium features already lock out at initial launch as I described). The statement in the support article Deactivate Premium Trial in Malwarebytes for Windows (revised 14-Sep-2020) states that "When you download Malwarebytes for Windows for the first time, you can provide your email to unlock Malwarebytes Premium features for 14 days". That implies that if you do not to provide your email that you will not be able to unlock the 14-day Premium trial. If that's correct then the installation wizard should clearly state that you can't unlock the 14-day trial unless you provide an email address. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  5. I performed a reset to original factory condition on 30-Aug-2020 so I'm not sure how my Windows registry would know that I had previously installed Malwarebytes Free. The support article Deactivate Premium Trial in Malwarebytes for Windows (revised 14-Sep-2020) states "When you download Malwarebytes for Windows for the first time, you can provide your email to unlock Malwarebytes Premium features for 14 days". I might have misunderstood, but that sounds like you only receive the 14-trial of the Premium features if you provide an email address. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  6. There are currently 3 options in the Malwarebytes installation process - Buy Now, Activate License, or Maybe Later - see Step # 8 of support article Download and Install Malwarebytes for Windows (revised 09-Sep-2020). When I recently installed Malwarebytes I answered "Maybe Later" and declined to enter my email address and was (pleasantly) surprised to see that I ended up installing Malwarebytes Free (i.e., without activating the 14-day trial period of Premium features). If I understand the support article Deactivate Premium Trial in Malwarebytes for Windows (revised 14-Sep-2020) correctly, if I had answered "Maybe Later" but provided my email address I would have received a 14-day trial of the Malwarebytes Premium features. To make it easier for users to install either Malwarebytes Free (all Premium features disabled) or the 14-day trial (Premium features activated for 14 days or until the user manually deactivates the trial at Settings | Account | Deactivate) I would like to suggest that Malwarebytes replace the single "Maybe Later" option with two clear choices: Malwarebytes Free (no prompt for email address) Malwarebytes Free with 14-Day Trial of Premium Features (with prompt for optional email address) ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1070 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  7. Just an FYI that I posted a new topic in the Comments and Suggestions board today at Turn OFF Settings for Premium Features in MB Free by Default and suggested that Malwarebytes should revise their new installation process so that Premium features that cannot be activated in Malwarebytes Free are automatically switched OFF by default in Malwarebytes Free and then switched ON by default if the user chooses "Activate License" and activates a Premium license. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.1 * Windows Defender 4.18.2008.9 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  8. I would like to see all Premium settings that are not available in Malwarebytes Free turned OFF in the MB interface by default before these settings are locked (greyed out). I just installed Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 and didn't realize that there's been a recent change in the installation process per the support article Deactivate Premium Trial in Malwarebytes for Windows. During this installation I did not enter an email address and answered "Maybe Later" when prompted if I want to enter a product activation key. This automatically installed Malwarebytes Free (i.e., I was not required to go to Settings | Account | Deactivate to deactivate the 14-day trial as in the past), but some Premium settings like Settings | Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center now appear to be turned ON by default. I was informed in my 06-Oct2020 thread MB Free v4.2.1 Installation - Question RE: Windows Security Center that "The free version does not register in the security center at all. Even when launched or scanning." but if these Premium features cannot be activated in Malwarebytes Free then it would be much less confusing if settings for these inactive Premium features were switched OFF by default in Malwarebytes Free and then switched ON by default if the user decides to activate a Premium license. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  9. Hi Porthos: A few question about the list of scan exclusion you posted <above>. Since I use 64-bit Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1 (i.e., no Ransomware or Web Protection) is normal that mbam.sys, farflt.sys and mwac.sys are missing from C:\Windows\System32\drivers? I also forgot that Malwarebytes had to be running in order for MBAMChameleon.sys to appear in that folder, but I eventually managed to add it to my Windows Defender scan exclusions. Also, is mbam.sys the correct file name for 32-bit systems? I found C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbae64.sys on my 64-bit system but according to the MB v4 support article Malwarebytes for Windows Antivirus Exclusions List the 32-bit version of this file is mbae.sys, not mbam.sys. According to the MS support article How to Add a File type or Process Exclusion to Windows Security the use of wildcards (*) is acceptable in Windows Defender (or Microsoft Defender Antivirus or whatever I'm supposed to call it now 🙂), so instead of adding individual .exe files to the Process exclusions I only created a single exclusion for C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware\*.exe . The only extra executables that wildcard picks up are ig.exe (file description: Malware Scanner) and mbuns.exe (file description: Malwarebytes Setup). I assume that's okay, given the entire C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes folder was excluded as well. Are there instructions posted somewhere for creating mutual scan exclusions for Windows Defender files and folders in Malwarebytes at Settings | Allow List | Add? The only folders I could find that appear to be related to Windows Defender are C:\Program Files\Windows Defender, C:\Program Files\Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection and C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Defender. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.1 * Windows Defender 4.18.2009.7 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  10. Hi Porthos: Thanks for your reply. I manually launched MB Free v4.2.1 and confirmed that Malwarebytes was not listed at Windows Security | Virus & Threat Protection | Manage Providers, but I'm still curious why Malwarebytes feels that Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center should be turned ON and locked in that position in Malwarebytes Free, given that other Premium real-time protection features (e.g., Web Protection, Malware Protection, etc.) are turned OFF and locked in that position. Is this now the expected behaviour if the user declines to enter their email address during installation? With older versions of the installer where the 14-day trial version was automatically enabled, I seem to recall that all the Premium settings were TURNED ON by default and I could could turn those switches OFF before deactivating the 14-day trial of Premium features at Settings | Account | Deactivate. I ran a manual Thread Scan with Malwarebytes Free v4.1.2.73 - 1.0.1003 back on 08-Aug-2020 and after the scan finished I discovered my system had frozen. I performed a hard shutdown by holding down the power button but was never able to re-boot my system again (it would lock during the POST test before Win 10 loaded and I could not access my BIOS or Windows Recovery options during boot) and Dell Support couldn't find a solution. Fortunately, I was able to re-image my hard drive with Macrium Reflect Free back to an earlier date before Malwarebytes Free had been installed. I'm not 100% certain that it was the Malwarebytes Threat Scan that borked my computer (some unrelated background task might have launched if my computer went into idle mode after the scan finished) but I was quite reluctant to re-install Malwarebytes again after the hard drive re-image. I ran a Threat Scan yesterday after installing the latest Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 and I could hear my cooling fan run for several minutes after the scan finished. Task Manager showed Windows Defender was consuming over >25% CPU until I selected "Quit Malwarebytes" from the system tray icon. I haven't tested extensively to see if this high CPU consumption by Windows Defender is a consistent problem, but I'm still worried there's been a change in recent versions of MB Free v4.1.2 and higher that my Windows Defender real-time protection doesn't like. I'd be much more comfortable if I had the ability to turn OFF the setting at Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center, just to see if toggling that switch ON / OFF has any effect. I'll start another topic if I decide that I need help troubleshooting my high CPU issue. For now I just wanted to know if it is normal that Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center is turned ON and locked in that position in Malwarebytes Free if the user declines to enter their email address during installation. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.1 * Windows Defender 4.18.2008.9 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  11. I just installed Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 on my Win 10 laptop and didn't realize that there's been a recent change in the installation process per the support article Deactivate Premium Trial in Malwarebytes for Windows. Instead of entering my email address during the installation I answered "Maybe Later" when prompted if I want to enter a product activation key. This automatically installed Malwarebytes Free (i.e., I was not required to go to Settings | Account | Deactivate to deactivate the 14-day trial), but now I am unable to disable the Premium setting at Settings | Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center, which is turned ON by default. Why is it necessary for Malwarebytes Free to be registered in the Windows Security Center if a user declines the 14-day trial version by answering "Maybe Later" during the installation? I've turned OFF Settings | Security | Windows Startup | Launch Malwarebytes in the Background When Windows Starts Up, but I'd prefer to have the Windows Security Center setting turned OFF as well just to avoid any possible conflict with Windows Defender after Malwarebytes Free is launched. As far as I can see, the only way to do this now is to enter an activation key to temporarily re-activate the Premium settings or to uninstall and reinstall Malwarebytes Free again and provide my email address this time to start the 14-day Premium trial. Note that the attached mbst-grab-results.zip was collected after starting and closing Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1 (i.e., without choosing Quit Malwarebytes from the system tray icon to stop the Malwarebytes Service). mbst-grab-results.zip ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.1082 * Firefox 81.0.1 * Windows Defender 4.18.2008.9 * Malwarebytes Free v4.2.1.89-1.0.1061 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB NVMe SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

  13. Hi Porthos: Thanks for the quick reply. I went ahead and manually deleted those stray .QMLC files in AppData\Local\mbam and AppData\Local\mbamtray before installing MB Free v4.1.2-1.0.972 and all went well. I don't know if the long scan times some v4.1.x users have reported only affect MB Premium users, but I ran a few Threat Scans in MB Free v4.1.2 and those scans ran just as fast, if not faster, as they did in MB Free v3.8.3 on my Win 10 v1909 machine (Fast Startup disabled). As you predicted, the clean install of MB Free v4.1.2 re-created a new set of hidden .QMLC files in AppData\Local\mbam. ------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.836 * Firefox ESR v68.10.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2006.10 * Malwarebytes Free v4.1.2-1.0.972 Dell Inspiron 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620

Does anyone know the purpose of the .QMLC files in those hidden \Appdata\Local folders (a Google search suggests they have something to do with Qt Creator and/or the QML programming language) and whether it's safe to manually delete them before I install the latest MB Free v4.1.2.73-1.0.972? I installed MB v3.9.3 on my computer on 20-Aug-2019, so these orphaned files were all created within a day or two of that installation. 19. Just an FYI that some Norton 360 users have reported similar glitches after the Windows 10 Version 2004 (May 2020) update was installed - see MatureSoccerFan's 28-May-2020 thread Windows 10 Version 2004. Conflict with Norton Security? in the MS Answers forum for one example. In that case a reinstall of their Norton product using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool solved the problem. If users are having problems with Malwarebytes v4.1.0.56 (the current stable release, not the v4.1.1 beta) after Win 10 Version 2004 is installed I wonder if a clean reinstall of Malwarebytes using the Malwarebytes Support Tool (Advanced | Clean) would work better than an over-the-top update with the offline installer as suggested in post # 3? There was also a suggestion in that MS Answers thread that disabling the Fast Startup power option in Win 10 as instructed <here> might have prevented this problem. Norton and Malwarebytes users with Win 8.x and Win 10 OSs are often asked to disable Fast Startup to ensure their security software loads correctly at boot-up, and Microsoft apparently just posted their own warning about problems with Windows Update failures when Fast Startup is enabled (the default setting) in the MS support article Updates May Not be Installed with Fast Startup in Windows 10. ---------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.778 * Firefox ESR v68.8.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2004.6 * Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3-1.0.629
  20. Hi Porthos: I currently use Malwarebytes v3.8.3.2965-1.0.269 and the latest v3.x offline installer at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3-windows-legacy is called mb3-setup-consumer-3.8.3.2965-1.0.629-1.0.13137.exe, and both the Malwarebytes product version and component package version have always been explicitly included in the file name of any v3.x installer. Just to confirm, are you saying that there has been a change in nomenclature for the full offline v4.x installers, and that the installer version (and not the Malwarebytes product version) is used in the name of the installer? When I downloaded the v4.x offline installer from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline in early May 2020 (i.e., just after Component Package v1.0.889 was released) the full offline installer was named mb4-setup-consumer-4.1.0.159-1.0.889-1.0.23156.exe, so that older installer also started with "mb4-setup-consumer-4.1.0.159-x.x.xxx-x.x.xxxxx.exe" even though the component package and update package (aka malware definition database) were different. ---------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.778 * Firefox ESR v68.8.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2004.6 * Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3-1.0.629 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  21. The product update announcements in Erix's pinned thread Malwarebytes 4.1 indicate the latest product is MB v4.1.0.56 but the offline installer at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline is currently named mb4-setup-consumer-4.1.0.159-1.0.920-1.0.24046.exe. What is the difference between v4.1.0.56 and v4.1.0.159, and am I correct that v4.1.0.159 is not delivered via regular update channels if a user with MB v4.1.0.56 performs a manual check for updates? ---------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.778 * Firefox ESR v68.8.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2004.6 * Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3-1.0.629 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  22. I started this thread is over 3 years ago and Aura's 29-Jan-2017 post <above> answered my question. This topic is no longer relevant since newer versions of MB Clean and the Malwarebytes Support Tool have been released since January 2017, so I have no objections if a Forum Mod wants to lock this thread.
  23. Hi SPDIF: Do your clients rely on Dell for customer support? My Inspiron 5584 is less than a year old and is still under warranty, and I've been warned by Dell that uninstalling the Dell SupportAssist (DSA) will essentially void my warranty and I will not be allowed to initiate support tickets with Dell Customer Support (which I've already had to do once after Windows Update delivered an incorrect driver update that didn't match my Inspiron model; driver updates are now disabled for Windows Update on this Win 10 Pro machine). If I disable data telemetry in the DSA settings at Settings | Privacy I've also discovered that the online "Detect Drivers" check for the latest certified drivers cannot detect my Dell Service Tag (the unique identifier that specifies my hardware configuration like my SSD make/model, etc.) on the Inspiron 5584 support page at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/product-support/product/inspiron-15-5584-laptop/drivers. ---------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.720 * Firefox ESR v68.8.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2004.6 * Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3-1.0.629 * Dell SupportAssist v3.5.0.448 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  24. Hi Bonecrusher: Dell SupportAssist should run an automatic check for updates at each launch, and the SupportAssist for my Inspiron 5584 recently received an update from v3.4.5.366 to v3.5.0.448 a few days ago in early May 2020. Unfortunately, the link to the release notes <here> hasn't been updated yet and still downloads a PDF for the old v3.4.5 change log. I currently use Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3 as an on-demand scanner so I haven't experienced the same "Scan Hardware" issues described in this thread, but I did have to do a complete wipe of SupportAssist using Revo Uninstaller Free back in January 2020 and then reinstall with a fresh copy of the Dell SupportAssist for PCs installer (SupportAssistInstaller.exe) to fix "An unexpected error occurred" message that occurred every time "Get Drivers & Downloads"ran. ---------------- 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1909 build 18363.720 * Firefox ESR v68.8.0 * Windows Defender v4.18.2004.6 * Malwarebytes Free v3.8.3-1.0.629 * Dell SupportAssist v3.5.0.448 * Revo Uninstaller Free Portable v2.1.1 Dell Inspiron 15 5584, Intel i5-8265U@1.60/1.80 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Toshiba KBG40ZNS256G SSD, Intel UHD Graphics 620
  25. Hi GLionel: Further to your 05-Dec-2019 post # 13 in chantal11's thread Windows 10 Version 1909 Unusable with MBAM 4.0 Enabled, could you please confirm that: You have a Win 10 v1909 (Pro or Home) operating system, You were testing the latest available Malwarebytes Premium v4.x (e.g., v4.0.4.49-1.0.750), Malwarebytes v4.x was registered as your primary security product [i.e., Settings | Security | Windows Security Center | Always Register Malwarebytes in the Windows Security Center was turned ON (the default setting) so that your Windows Defender antivirus was turned off (see Maurice Naggar's post # 15 in chantal11's thread about this setting), Your poor system performance improved when the real-time Malware Protection feature in Malwarebytes Premium v4.x was disabled as chantal11 reported in post # 14 (i.e., having Web, Ransomware and Exploit Protection enabled did not cause a problem), Downgrading back to Malwarebytes Premium v3.8.3 solved your problem. I don't know if you can recall all this information, but it looks like a Forum Moderator split some of your comments in chantal11's thread off into this new thread and it's a bit hard now to figure out your system specs or what problems you encountered after upgrading to Malwarebytes v4.x. ----------- Dell Inspiron 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v1903 build 18362.418 * Firefox ESR v68.3.0 * McAfee LiveSafe v16.0 R22 / VirusScan 22.7.150 * MB Premium v3.8.3-1.0.627
