[ RESOLVED ] MB v4.5.20.230 - Release Notes and System Tray Behaviour

Recommended Posts

I updated to MB Premium v4.5.20.230-1.0.1868 (rel. 12-Jan-2022) today.

Shortly after updating I noticed the release notes for MB v4.5.20 had been removed from Erix's pinned topic Malwarebytes 4.5. Has the v4.5.20 rollout been paused because of a known issue?

Also, the only change for v4.5.20 under "What's New" for the release notes said "Enhanced tray behavior for left click".  However, I re-booted my system after my update to v4.5.20 and when I left-click the system tray icon all it does is open the user interface; when I right-click the system tray icon the options in the pop-up menu look identical to the v4.5.19 version.

What enhanced behaviour should we be seeing with the left click?

I also noticed that a monthly 30-day security summary was displayed the first time I opened the v4.5.20 interface after the update was applied, even though I have no detections in my Detection History and my summary is only supposed to be displayed if I had a detection in that 30-day period.  However, that glitch started with the previous v4.5.19.

I don't think diagnostic logs would be helpful in this case, but if anyone's interested ...

Please standby, we'll be publishing a revised version of the release notes a little later today.

Also @lmacri thanks for the heads-up about the 30-day security summary issue. I don't recall seeing a bug filed for that but will look into it.

Hi @H4V0C :

Thanks for your quick response.  I'll check back later for the revised release notes.

Regarding the 30-day security summary, I didn't capture a new image today when I first opened the v4.5.20 interface, but here are the two images I captured on 05-Jan-2023 after opening my MB Premium v4.5.19 interface.  Let me know if you'd like me to start a separate topic on this issue or contact support to open a bug report.

I see that revised release notes for Malwarebytes v4.5.20.230-1.0.1868 were re-posted today in Erix's pinned topic Malwarebytes 4.5 with additional details  For example, the item related to the system tray icon now says:

Quote

Tray icon - Primary click on the tray icon now launches the UI or brings it into focus. Previously a primary click opened the tray menu which was redundant since a secondary click does the same operation.

The direct download link at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb4_offline for the latest Malwarebytes v4.x full offline installer was also updated today to download mb4-setup-consumer-4.5.20.230-1.0.1868-1.0.64577.exe, so the Forum Mods can go ahead and mark this thread as RESOLVED if they wish.
