RobC1972 Posted March 20, 2022 ID:1507767 Share Posted March 20, 2022 I have AT&T fiber 1Gbps service. One of the latest updates severely limited by upload speed. Without MalwareByes running I top out at 950Mbps. When it is running it barely hits 60Mbps, sometimes close to 100mbps but never more than that. Running the latest update of Premium 4.5.5 I went through the settings and I cannot find the source of this. Link to post

RobC1972 Posted March 20, 2022 Author ID:1507774 Share Posted March 20, 2022 I ran windows updates and restarted. Same issue. I decided to disconnect Ethernet and use wireless and the upload speeds go up to what I would expect them to be on wireless. I tested a USB-C network adapter and upload performance goes up to 950Mbps. So it appears to be some kind of conflict with the Onboard NIC on this laptop. The NIC is a Realtek Killer E3100G 2.5 Ethernet. Probably a driver issue but whatever the issue is Malwarebytes and the Onboard NIC do not seem to get along. Link to post
RobC1972 Posted March 20, 2022 Author ID:1507778 Share Posted March 20, 2022 I updated to the latest Killer drivers 10.53.1001 dated October 2021 and that did not seem to fix it. So right now I am using a USB ethernet until I can figure this out. This was working fine before I was getting a flurry of updates to Malware bytes. The latest version seems to have introduced the issue. Link to post
Firefox Posted March 20, 2022 ID:1507785 Share Posted March 20, 2022 what does it show in your network adapter properties when you are connected with the on board network card? For Example, does it show 100MB or 1GB This is mine... Link to post
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted March 20, 2022 Root Admin ID:1507787 Share Posted March 20, 2022 Hello @RobC1972 Please check and see if there are updates for your BIOS. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT update your BIOS due to this issue, but I would recommend updating your BIOS or at least looking at updating it for your own security or features updates. Check with MSI and see if they do have an update. The reason I say don't update for this issue is that a BIOS update can sometimes be tricky or sometimes something happens and it can break the computer. I've never had it happen but that doesn't mean it cannot happen. Vendors make it pretty safe to run an update as they don't want an RMA either. Please download HWiNFO the Professional System Information and Diagnostics program.HWiNFO Portable for Windows Unzip the program to its own folder such as: C:\HWiNFO Go to the new folder and locate the file C:\HWiNFO\HWiNFO64.exe and double-click to run it. Click the RUN button. Ignore the update, click close. Click on Save Report and choose HTML and click Next, then Finish By default, it will create a new report named COMPUTER.HTM in the same folder as the program. C:\HWiNFO Please zip that file and attach it to your next reply Thank you Link to post
RobC1972 Posted March 20, 2022 Author ID:1507841 Share Posted March 20, 2022 I am one BIOS update behind at the moment. HWINFO attached. as mentioned no problems with upload on the wireless and the attached USB 2.5GB ethernet. The problem is solely with the onboard Killer Ethernet 2.5 nic. computer.zip Link to post

RobC1972 Posted March 29, 2022 Author ID:1509075 Share Posted March 29, 2022 I tried remove the Kller Ethernet suite and just used the driver to identify the card and that did not correct the issue. I also directed support to this thread for review. Link to post

I believe we're trying to have a new beta out this Thursday if possible. Link to post
RobC1972 Posted March 30, 2022 Author ID:1509130 Share Posted March 30, 2022 It shows 1.0 Gbps. I sent the logs as requested by support. I will try the beta experience to see if it makes a difference. Thanks!! 1 Link to post
Solution RobC1972 Posted April 2, 2022 Author Solution ID:1509543 Share Posted April 2, 2022 For the record. I discovered that the issue is with the Killer Ethernet 2.5Gbps device. You need to install the Killer Intelligence center along with the performance suite installed. Then turn off the prioritization engine (Killer Intelligence center) and things work as expected. For some reason I attributed this to Malwarebytes. Though I was pretty sure that when I discovered the issue and tested by disabling Malwarebytes that the upload speeds returned to normal. 1 Link to post
