  1. gatortail's post in malwarebytes guard needing new browser permissions was marked as the answer
Yes, the permission was optional up till now.  It allows Browser Guard and our anti malware product to communicate with one another.  This allows us to provide a better customer experience by allowing the products to work in sync with one another vs being unaware of one another.

  4. gatortail's post in Is Malwarebytes Browser Guard Ready For Manifest V3? was marked as the answer
    Hi John,
Appreciate you checking in.  Yes, we are actively working on migrating Browser Guard to Manifest v3.  There were a few kinks we were waiting on Chrome to work thru but now that those are completed we are full steam ahead.
  5. gatortail's post in is this normal? was marked as the answer
Actually we had a hiccup pushing out to the Mozilla store and it wouldn't allow us to use v2.5.1 so currently v2.5.1 is the production version for Chrome & Edge and v2.5.2 is the production version for Firefox.  The next release for everyone will be v2.5.3 so in essence Chrome & Edge will skip v2.5.2.
  6. gatortail's post in Fraud Risk Warning of IP addresses was marked as the answer
This is a question for Scamalytics.  Datacamp Limited and the server in question are legitimate.  Saying 100% of traffic routed thru a valid VPN server is high risk is 100% inaccurate.
  7. gatortail's post in Does browser guard for safari block malwarebytes ip test wbe site? was marked as the answer
Apple has restrictions on the number of entries we can include in our database so that one is not currently included.  We are researching opportunities to include it.

  14. gatortail's post in Browser Guard Heuristic Ad Block on Youtube blocking 11889 ads... was marked as the answer
The site continually tries to spawn ad's while open and we block them.  This is functioning as designed.
  15. gatortail's post in What does the new protection option on BG do? New version 2.4.0 was marked as the answer
If there's a malicious script running on the site in question it could pick up the data as you key it in.
Correct, Malwarebytes does NOT do anything to identify or use data you enter.

The only option in the short term is to hide the block count from the icon in settings.

  24. gatortail's post in MBG for Chrome wants to update v2.3.16 was marked as the answer
    Hi @1PW,
The check for updates button is actually just to check for database updates.  It is not for product version updates.
We'll look at updating the text to make that more clear.
Note: The extension automatically checks for database updates several times each hour.  The check for updates button is really for situations where you're urgently looking for an update or you suspect updates aren't automatically loading.
Thank you for your continued support.
