goodjohnjr Posted September 10, 2022 ID:1532002 Share Posted September 10, 2022 Hello, I am curious if Malwarebytes Browser Guard is ready for Manifest V3 (Welcome to Manifest V3 - Chrome Developers)? Adguard Browser Extension (AdGuard publishes the world's first ad blocker built on Manifest V3) and uBlock Origin (uBlock Origin Minus: an experimental Manifest v3 compatible extension - gHacks Tech News) already have experimental Manifest V3 compliant versions of their web browser extensions. Even with the limitations of Manifest V3, I hope that Malwarebytes Browser Guard will improve in ad blocking / pop-up blocking / cosmetic filtering to at least equal uBlock Origin & Adguard Browser Extension & Brave Browser's built-in ad blocker; then I can finally use Malwarebytes Browser Guard by itself, and can recommend it by itself to others. Keep up the good work, — John Jr Link to post
Staff Solution gatortail Posted September 12, 2022 Staff Solution ID:1532276 Share Posted September 12, 2022 Hi John, Appreciate you checking in. Yes, we are actively working on migrating Browser Guard to Manifest v3. There were a few kinks we were waiting on Chrome to work thru but now that those are completed we are full steam ahead. 1 Link to post

Great, thank you for answering that Gatortail, and I hope that a beta version will be released for testing like those other extensions I mentioned. I hope that Malwarebytes Browser Guard will get better ad blocking, even if you have to fork or implement one of those open source projects I mentioned, and the ability to report websites (false positives, missed detections) / issues (bugs, feedback) from the extension itself. 👍 Another idea I think would be great is integrating Malwarebytes Browser Guard & Malwarebytes Adwcleaner into Malwarebytes Free so that it can be used at the operating system level (Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, Fire OS, et cetera) for those using Malwarebytes Free; the standalone versions could still be available. Thank you, - John Jr Link to post
Staff gatortail Posted September 12, 2022 Staff ID:1532325 Share Posted September 12, 2022 I believe we'll have a Beta available in the next couple of months. There are components of the Browser Guard protection available in Malwarebytes Premium that also extend to the entire device so it goes beyond browser based attacks. Link to post

Good, Manifest V3 will be here before we know it. Since Malwarebytes Browser Guard is free, I thought that it would be great to have it also integrated into Malwarebytes Free, which would make it even better; and Malwarebytes Free would be even more popular, and would encourage some of us to also recommend Malwarebytes Premium after people see how effective & helpful the free version is. - Thank you Link to post
