  1. @treed The problems of the other day never came back.

But it is two or three times that when I wake up the Mac from stand-by it creates problems for me (it gets stuck and I have to force the restart or effort in the login operation). However, it happens sporadically.

It had never happened before; it could be macOS 10.15.6 (are you aware of something? I haven't read anything on internet) or the new version of Malwarebytes (it's the only thing that has changed since the upgrade to 10.15.6 on July 15 - no problem, however, between 15 July and the release of the new beta).

@treed If you want to collect the logs of my Mac send me a PM with the link to the tool and I will gladly send them to you

  2. Surely I can try but it happened twice in 4 days and with two different apps.

I can say, if I remember correctly, that both times I was downloading a youtube video content to be able to watch it offline

Update: I tried to replicate the above conditions but there was no problem with both the apps that had given me the problem and app block set to active. I think it's a sporadic thing.

  3. Since I installed the beta, just made available, a strange fact has happened twice, I don't know if it is linked to the new version, but it has never happened before in seven years of Mac.

Once the messages app did not open leaving the icon on the bouncing dock (this the day after installation)
A little while ago the same behavior with the Mac AppStore app.

Only solution to force restart the Mac by holding down the power button after several moments.

    SSD Kingston
    macOS Catalina 10.15.6 Stable Release

    Malwarebytes 4.5.14 beta

Can it be due to the new beta?

    I wait for a feedback

    Thank you

    Good day

    Massimiliano

  4. I received the first Malwarebytes Privacy update though:

    • a new system extension has been inserted: how can I remove the old one?
    • once the beta period has ended, if I don't intend to keep the software, how can I completely uninstall it, including system extensions (in fact, there isn't uninstall procedure)?

    Thank you

  5. TEST OF MALWAREBYTES for macOS 4.5 Beta

    • Installed without problems
    • It works properly both after a Reboot and after a Shutdown and Start of the Mac
    • I have tried all EICAR files that are correctly detected by real-time protection.
    • Manual and scheduled scan work correctly and detect both EICAR files. (To do the test I had to disable temporarily the RTP)
    • Quarantine work correctly

    • The only drawback could be that with five EICAR files it signals me 6 items scanned and 5 threats detected and corrected; I assume, correct me if I'm wrong, that the 6th item is the Malwarebytes folder under \ Users \ Shared (I attach screenshots)

    • It always remains just too easy, for those who shouldn't, turn off real-time protection

    Only thing: a question.

    • I keep having the old extension in StagedExtension.
    • In SystemExtension I only have the extension of the Beta VPN MWB
    • I have not been able to understand where the new SystemExtension is and I can no longer find the old KEXT (except in StagedExtension).

I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS NORMAL?

    @treed can you clarify?

    Thank you

    Have a good day

    Massimiliano

  6. I currently use a wireless connection with my provider's proprietary technology that has a maximum speed of 30/3 Mb/s ((if you want to find out about the technology used - unfortunately it is in Italian)

I am attaching some screenshots of the Ookla speedtests (not made via the internet but with the app downloaded from the Mac AppStore):

NO VPN (The NO VPN place is quite isolated in the mountains)

  7. FIRST IMPRESSIONS

    • no problem with the installation. macOS requires approval of the extension as soon as you try to activate the connection
    • there seem to be no particular slowdowns. I am in Italy and if I use the only Italian server the speed (in the first ookla speed test tests) seems almost the same. I will see better in the next few days. If I use foreign servers, the slowdown is quite evident
    • The only problem (assuming it is) that I encountered in these first minutes of testing is: IF I RESTART THE MAC, THE VPN CONNECTION MUST BE REACTIVATED MANUALLY

    My Mac is a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 13" Non-Retina Display (Intel i5 2,5 Ghz - 10GB RAM (8+2) -  with macOS 10.15.6 (19G73) and I have Malwarebytes Premium version 4.4.11 - 4.0.492

  8. I read that Safari 14, which will be released for Mojave, Catalina and BigSur, will be compatible with the Web Extension Api of Chrome and Firefox.  Will this cause anything to change about Malwarebytes Browser Guard for Safari 14 and the following?

I ask (again) only for this modification of extension management by Apple

    Thank you

  9. I suggested to a friend the purchase of Malwarebytes for an Android phone (specifically a Huawei / Honor, one of the last ones still with GApps).

Unfortunately after several months he is still forced to use the free version (the trial has expired for some time) because at every purchase attempt through the PlayStore it is communicated that there are problems with the servers.

If you could check it and let me know something about it.

    Thank you

    Massimiliano

  10. It is a few days that when I turn the Mac back on I find a Recovered files folder in the macOS Recycle Bin (with a possible progressive if I have not deleted the previous one) containing a .plist.different_characters_casual file that changes its name every time (size 0 bytes or few bytes).
Below the post I attach the files found with this morning's tests (I have logged in and turned off the Mac 3 times) obviously zipped.
I state that Malwarebytes doesn't detect anything, but I can't understand what they are created from (changes name every time) and until a few days ago it had never happened.
I thank anyone who will be able to give me an idea of what they are.

    Good day
    Massimiliano

PS: I have been using Safari Technology Preview 109 for a few days

  11. @treed

one question about the future version of Malwarebytes

Will the versions of Malwarebytes compatible with BigSur and following be compatible with Catalina? I ask because I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 and I am excluded from the macOS update.

Another question: what will happen once there will be Apple Silicon? Will there still be an Intel Compatible Malwarebytes version?

    Thanks

  12. @Hardhead  It will be installed on new Macs after September 2020 and as a free upgrade from September 2020 on Macs that have been indicated by @1PW and on subsequent ones.

For the purchase of a Mac I would recommend waiting because starting from the end of 2020, in a time of about 2 years, the entire Mac line-up will switch to Arm-based processors created internally by Apple - Ax Series, therefore buy a Mac with Intel now: how long will it be supported?
