  1. I ask for an acquaintance.

I haven't seen the smartphone directly yet but it seems to be infected with the ZAHKIT.PRO malware.

Does anyone know him, as neither here on the forum nor on the blog when searching for posts are found?

It claims that several ad pop-ups are displayed with redirects to a site whose address contains 126WS.ZAHKIT.PRO and this malware is widely talked about on the web.

    Thank you

  2. I have been using Malwarebytes on the MacBook Air M1 since yesterday.

Personally I can say that it works very well even if still in x86 version: there was no slowdown of the machine.

The only thing to report, as can be seen from the attached screenshot, is the reported high power consumption (This was not the case with the MacBook Pro Mid 2012; Safari was already in the high-power apps). It happens sporadically, but more frequently than it first seemed

Has anyone else noticed this shift in power consumption by Malwarebytes?

Let me know if you need anything else to learn more

    Thank you

  3. FEEDBACK

    • Installation took place automatically.
    • No problem, even after a Mac restart.
    • The number of scanned items has increased, compared to the average, of about 20%.
    • Scan times are about the same as before.
    • I've never had any particular CPU usage issues.
    • There are always some usage peaks, but they decrease within a few moments of viewing within the Activity Monitor but I think it's normal that there are.
    • However, I have never encountered particular problems with slowing down the machine or starting the fans: it could also be because I mostly use the Mac for Internet Browsing, Mail, Office.

The only thing that is still missing, unfortunately, is support for Apple M1; I hope it will be released, at least in beta, as soon as possible.

  4. For the attention of @treed and the developers

As you can see from the attached screenshot, in the Safari settings for iOS, the Web Protection and Ad-Blocker writings are cut due to lack of space.
I would like to ask, if it is possible, with the next beta, which should arrive on TestFlight within 28 days, to display only the Malwarebytes icon and its content blocker, eliminating the Malwarebytes text, so that the writing is fully visible.
In my humble opinion it would be much better done.

We are actually not adding new people to the beta at this time. Not only do we not have anything new to test at the moment, but there has been some abuse of the beta program as a means of just getting free Premium service, without providing any beta feedback. We may re-open the beta program to new participants in the future, when 1) we have something to test, and 2) we have worked out a system to ensure participants are providing feedback and to prevent or minimize abuse.

Not sure what happened here and maybe it’s just a glitch but when I tried to change theme again I got this error message but it went back to the settings I chose. Just thought I would would let you know and I’m on my Password manager program on my iPhone. Pic below:

Since the end of August (new major version of the forum) that gives me this problem at login (only if I use the boomark, the password stored on the iCloud keychain) and only on the iPhone.

Nothing has changed neither in the transition from iOS 13.x to iOS 14.x nor in physically changing iPhone (as the old iPhone started smoking).

If I login on iOS the only way to use the forum is to touch the Malwarebytes logo on the error screen and everything is fine (login done). The same error does not occur on the Mac (always safari, always using the bookmark, always password on iCloud).

In due course I reset everything (favorites, keychain, Safari on iOS)

The error on iOS occurs, as I have already reported, only when I clean history, cookies and website data on the iPhone. Here the first post where I talk about it (8 October 2020) and in the following two pages the problem has been dealt with at length but even today, 24 December, the problem has not been solved

a question about install to @treed or @adas

Change something to install Malwarebytes (x86) on a Mac M1 or just run the installer with Rosetta2 and then everything goes as usual including approval of the System Extension?
I currently use 4.6.12 on Intel Macs but in the near future I will have to do the platform change (probably before an M1 version of Malwarebytes comes out)

    Thanks

  8. Thanks, @alvarnell

Leave it disabled, not for sure. Indeed, except for the horrendous eventuality mentioned in the article, I would not disable it.

As a Firewall I only have that of macOS, that of my Router (provided by the operator) we drop a pitiful veil.

Obviously I have never installed the aforementioned software, I have very little software outside the Mac AppStore (Handbrake, VLC, Titanium-Software, 4kdownload.com, Firefox, Paintbrush - only because I know nothing else of similar - and obviously Malwarebytes - the only security software )

Just enable "Beta Application Updates" in the Mac app Preferences/Settings->General, at least for the Mac version.

It is similar on the Windows version. From what I know you need the premium version to enable the feature

And there is no reason to have the actual Malwarebytes app open except to change settings, do a manual scan or check results. You should normally close it after doing any of those things.

I assume that @personx's problem is not due to the open interface but to the fact that the application is active.

Probably apart from uninstalling it, the only way is to temporarily deactivate the protections in real time (as @exile360 said above).

the exam software wants certain apps closed, like Malwarebytes

The fact remains that an app that doesn't accept that antimalware works, if it is legitimate, is not normal in my opinion and some concern should at least arouse it

I am certain there is something embedded in my computer preventing my connection to TPB, but Malwarebytes ( free) doesn't detect anything. Any address that I type into any browser that includes the words “pirate” and “bay”, I am sure this is not a browser settings issue since browser settings are synced on all computers. No antivirus, windows defender does not indicate any blocking events.   DO I require a paid version of Malwarebytes to remove this or is there another product more suitable for this kind of malware?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    You mentioned Windows Defender.

I assume therefore that you are not a macOS user so this is not the correct forum.

However, piracy remains wrong as @alvarnell said
