  5. It will not hurt to install Direct X twice, it will just do a repair install the second time....
  6. If it is a laptop, then it is probably shutting down due to over heating. Run some tools on it to check the temps. (it is probably not a power supply issue, unless the power cord or charger looks damaged). Run some diagnostics on it and see if anything fails on it.
  7. Once you are given the all clear then we can be sure and try to diagnose other things should it come back clean....
  8. Indeed a great addition for corporate users.... I like the interface too, it looks good and professional....

  10. Hello and Sorry to hear your friend is infected.... Have your friend stop by the forum and follow the instructions below (unless you are the one that is going to be doing the steps) Please follow the instructions by Conor55 above....
  11. Hello and Sorry to hear you keep getting infected, this is probably due to a rootkit infection, please follow the instructions below.... Please read the following so that you can begin the cleaning process: As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. After posting your new post, make sure under options, you select Track this topic and choose Immediate Email Notification, so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc...) unless advised by a malware removal helper. Doing so can result in system changes which may hinder the attempts by a helper to clean your machine. NOTE: Please DO NOT post back to (bump) your topic within the first 48 hours. Replying to your own posts changes the post count and helpers are looking for topics with zero replies. If you reply to your own post helpers may think that you're already being helped and thus overlook your post. If there is no reply from any experts after 48 hours, you can reply to the topic, asking for help again. Or You may send a Private Message to a Moderator asking for assistance. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or here. Please be patient, someone will assist you as soon as it is possible. PS: Please use the "ADDREPLY" button instead of other ones when you start replying.

  13. RobertJ, If your Internet provider is ComCast and they did send you an email that you have an infection, then more than likely it is true. Internet providers do send out emails to users that are on their network and could potentially cause problems for them. I have repaired many computers from folks that received such emails..... Please follow my instructions from Post # 10 above..... HERE
  14. We are glad Malwarebytes has helped you eradicate this malicious software. If your current security solution let this infection through, you might please consider purchasing the FULL version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware for additional protection. Thank you for using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Activating the full version unlocks realtime protection, scheduled scanning, and scheduled updating.
  15. Hello and For the shut down issue it could be several things. It could be getting hot due to a lot of dust inside the computer, you need to clean it out. Also it could be a bad cooling fan that could be causing the heating problem. May need to replace cooling fans. The most common issue with this type of issue is the power supply. I would replace the power supply myself.... As for parking the heads, with the technology on hard drives these days, there is no need to park the heads...
  16. Hello and This could be a false positive..... Try uploading the file to VirusTotal: http://www.virustotal.com/ and see if others are detecting it.
  17. Hello and You could send the file yourself to Virustotal.... Try uploading the file to VirusTotal: http://www.virustotal.com/ to see if any other see it as an infection, it could be a false positive....
  18. Hello and If you are getting IP Blocks while you are currently on a site, more than likely it is blocking something in that site so Malwarebytes is working as designed.... The flash scan is supposed to be quicker than a Quick Scan. We principally introduced it for our paid users, who can trigger our Scheduler to run a flash scan after every database update. The idea of the flash scan is to give a quick-and-dirty picture of whether there is likely any malware at all on the system, and if there is, the user is recommended to follow up with a Quick Scan.

  20. Snotty Receptionist Yesterday I had an appointment to see the urologist for a Prostate exam. Of course, I was a bit on edge because all my friends have either gone under the knife or had those pellets implanted. The waiting room was filled with patients. As I approached the receptionist's desk, I noticed that the receptionist was a large unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler. I sighed and gave her my name. In a very loud voice, the receptionist said, "YES, I HAVE YOUR NAME HERE. YOU WANT TO SEE THE DOCTOR ABOUT IMPOTENCE, RIGHT?" All the patients in the waiting room snapped their heads around to look at me, now very embarrassed man. But as usual, I recovered quickly, and in an equally loud voice replied , "NO, I'VE COME TO INQUIRE ABOUT A SEX CHANGE OPERATION, BUT I DON'T WANT THE SAME DOCTOR THAT DID YOURS.." The room erupted in applause! DON'T MESS WITH OLD RETIRED GUYS!
