Periodic Freezing on system

I'm having the same issue, if I close malwarebytes the freezing goes away.

Windows 10, 1903

 

While scrolling a page/image is when it is most obvious.

Hope this can be fixed soon!

I think it had something to do with pihole ( dns telemetry/tracking blocking ), with it disabled and a reboot I haven't had freezing so far.

Odd, thought the problem was gone. Woke PC up from sleep mode... and as soon as I opened Chrome it started freezing again.

Tried toggling web/exploit/malware/ransomware. It seemed to go away when ransomware was disabled. but re-enabling it didn't make it come back immediately... I'll try disabling the self-protection and see if it comes back.

Something else I should mention, is I also have a laptop with the same version of windows 10 (with malwarebytes)... that so far has not had the issue.

Maybe I should just reset settings?

It's certainly worth a try.  If you want to reset Malwarebytes, you should do the following:

1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
3. Click the Clean button, and allow it to restart your system and then reinstall Malwarebytes, either by allowing the tool to do so when it offers to on restart, or by downloading and installing the latest version from here

I'll update if it changes, but disabling self-protection has fixed this for me... so far.

Excellent, thanks for the update.  If you would, please do the following so that the QA team can take a look at the data to try and hunt down the cause of the issue if you don't mind:

1. Download and run the Malwarebytes Support Tool
2. Accept the EULA and click Advanced tab on the left (not Start Repair)
3. Click the Gather Logs button, and once it completes, attach the zip file it creates on your desktop to your next reply

Thank you so much for helping us to track this down.  I'll notify a member of the Support team immediately so that he may collect the logs for the Developers to analyze the data.

@LiquidTension if you would, please take a look at the logs/data provided.  Hopefully it will give the Developers some insight into what is causing these intermittent performance issues.

Seems like the problem might be tied to Google Chrome... anyone else here using chrome at the time?

If it is tied to Chrome you may want to try cleaning up Chrome

Thanks for reporting this. We'll need some more information to look further into the issue.

• When the issue occurs, is the entire system frozen? Is mouse/keyboard input still possible? Or is the freezing limited to particular programs?
• Does the system eventually recover or is it frozen indefinitely?
• When did this first start occurring? Were any significant changes made to the computer around this time?
• Is this consistently reproducible? Does this always occur with Self-Protection enabled?
• Does disabling Self-Protection mitigate the issue entirely?

I did a Malwarebytes Support Tool: "Clean" and "Repair System".

So far, the issue has not returned. But if it does, I will reply back.

Just to confirm - you now have Self-Protection enabled after the clean reinstallation and the issue is not occurring?
