This just started to happen today (11/16/2015). I've been using Windows 10 for several weeks without incident. There was a Windows 10 update last night or this morning. I don't know any details of what was in that update.

When I boot and the startup sequence completes, I get a popup saying that Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit has stopped. I go to The Services list and try to start it. It tries to start, then immediately says it's stopped. I have not installed anything new in the last few days.

I rebooted. Uninstalled Anti-Exploit.

Rebooted. Downloaded the current Anti-Exploit installer and installed it, again. As the installer completed, I got a popup saying that Anti-Exploit has stopped.

Rebooted. Got the popup saying Anti-Exploit has stopped.

I downloaded the Anti-Exploit test program and tried it. Nope. Anti-Exploit is really NOT working.

I've read the threads from August and tried to find a log but can't find anything. I even got a command prompt and did an Attrib *.* to try to find Hidden files or directories. Nada.

I'll send anything you want, but I'm completely stopped - more or less like Anti-Exploit, but I'm more upset about it.

Thanks for your help.

The best bet would be to include at least upload the files from (C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit) so they can check them.

My first step however would be to re-install MBAE and 'hope' that fixed the problem by recreating the needed registry/file entries...

Hi, pbust.

I followed those steps to the letter yesterday before posting here.

Just now, I went to Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and double-clicked on the mbae application. For the first time in two days, IT RAN!!!

How long this will continue to work, I don't know, but according to your mbae-test program, I'm protected again. Wow.

I hope this keeps working, but I also wish I knew what happened and what to do if it happens again.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted on whether it works correctly the next time I boot up - and whether I have to manually execute it.

Thanks.

To see what would happen, I rebooted. Anti-Exploit loaded correctly from the startup sequence. It's running.

One thing was different, however, this time, the Microsoft Edge Database was running out of the startup gate. Normally it doesn't load until some website starts it. I don't see anything in the startup to run it and I don't know if it has anything to do with Anti-Exploit, but it was definitely running and it never has before immediately on startup.

This whole thing is strange.

Hi.

A recent Windows update led to my free Malware Anti-Exploit not starting - I got an error message "Malware Bytes Anti-Exploit Protection is not started. The Anti-Exploit process will be terminated."

I found this thread that has already identified this problem - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/171634-anti-exploit-not-started-after-upgrade-to-windows-10/

I followed the instructions in the thread i.e. reboot, uninstall anti-exploit, reboot, re-install latest version but this has not solved this issue for me.

I am running Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.10586 build 10586 on a x-64 based PC.

I installed anti-exploit version 1.08.1.1044

I have attached a compressed zip folder of all my files in my Malwared program folder.

Can you please help.

Thanks

Nick Shah

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting Nick.

It seems the process didn't complete correctly as the mbae.sys file was not completely deleted.

Try the following:

1- Reboot

2- Uninstall from Control Panel

3- Reboot again

4- Delete the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit

5- Download and install Anti-Exploit again

Hello  pbust

Your analysis was correct and your new instructions worked for me.

Everything working fine.

I suggest that you amend the advice in your original forum topic - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/171634-anti-exploit-not-started-after-upgrade-to-windows-10/- so that other people with the same problem don't experience my scenario.

Many thanks.

I tried to change my credit card on my Microsoft account. I could not change it. After 5 days I contacted Microsoft. They changed it but wanted to know why I could not change it myself. So they sent me to Windows support. Like an idiot I allowed Microsoft access to my computer. They turned off Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and several other things. Then disabled it in the task manager. I went back into Task Manager and enabled it to start when I start Windows. However I cannot get it to run. I have uninstalled the program and re-installed it. Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

Please, please do NOT take time away from family to work on this problem. I promise it will not bother me if someone is not able to help me until next week. I will also be in and out until next week. I am not traveling but helping my mom cook for friends and family. I will only answer/reply late at night.
