Version 1.34: CNET Exclusive

Recommended Posts

I had to download version 1.34 (installed over 1.33), the automatic update didn't find it (I only tried once) ; the image says "exclusive" on download.com, this may be the cause. :)

There are many differences, and 1.34 is faster. Here is the changelog, embedded in the setup :

Version 1.34 (February 11th, 2009)

1. (FIXED) Removing registry keys with corrupt permissions.

2. (FIXED) Removal of drivers now improved.

3. (FIXED) Improved memory usage (more to come!)

4. (FIXED) Certain types of freezing during full scan.

5. (FIXED) Improved full scan times significantly.

6. (ADDED) Better detection techniques for the real-time protection module.

7. (ADDED) Directories now counted as items scanned.

8. (ADDED) Disinfection for certain USB spread infections (Conficker).

9. (ADDED) New command line parameter: /schedule (see help file).

The owners of the other two sites:

Besttechie: Malwarebytes member profile > Administrators

Bleeping Computer: Malwarebytes member profile > Experts

I think you'll find they're not "QUESTIONABLE SITES" B)

At the Major Geeks site, i downloaded from two of the links they provided and got the same binaries.

But it was a different binary than the prior three links!!! Now we have FOUR DIFFERENT BINARIES on the web!!

SecurityWonks & GT500.org each provide the same binary, NOT the same BINARY as Major Geeks' site though.

These two sites have the same binary as Download.com's site.

You guys are dodging the REAL question here, that is: WHY are the binaries different in the first place!???

This is FULL OF BULL ****, and all you guys talk about is how wonderful the sites are...

We cannot TRUST MalwareBytes.

Well, i tried one of the many variants of MBAM and it was very weak, so weak in fact i downloaded & installed Avast! FREE Home Ed.

This quickly disposed of the UAC virus and some others i had laying in some obscure archives i had downloaded some time ago.

Avast! gave no problems at all and does a lot more than Malware's MBAM does.

I'll trust professionals more than a ".org" who acts exactly like a ".com" and wants $$$, Malware's website won't even name the place of or people in it's company.

As for affiliate embedding, um sure, wonder why anyone would trust that kind of slick software sales & marketing.

IMO.
