1. haha how true, Eclipsed I usually use weather.gov anyway for checking the weather when I check it online, but, weather.com has some interesting ads sometimes, hehe.
2. Catscomputer, You're using 3.0.7 ? I hope you mean 3.5.7 Anyway, I'm waiting a bit too. 3.5.7 will be maintained with security and stability updates till August 2010, so we're good I don't have that plugin. What does it do?
3. ppsttt Beatrix, your links are still clickable please use the

tags to make links unclickable in the future. (no spaces of course).
4. Welcome IMON, and I'm glad that Malwarebytes has served you and your family well. Enjoy your stay here
5. You're welcome Rich Feel free to post anytime you have a question!
6. Hi Kathy, Just follow as many directions as you are able to in Ron's post. If you are unable to follow any of them, just post whats going on with your computer in the HJT forum and someone will be along to assist you. Thanks
7. No problem, AZKid. There's a lot of us here and on at different times so usually someone is around Sounds like a good choice That's what I usually do - run MBAM quick scan by itself. Mine takes between 6 minutes and usually no more than 10 minutes. Choose a time when you don't need your computer for 10 minutes. I usually do it while getting ready to go to sleep. Also, do you use a temp file cleaner such as ATF cleaner or CCleaner? That can also help cut down on scan times by clearing out files that you don't need on your computer. If you don't, I can provide you with links and directions for one or both. I use them both. I use ATF daily prior to my quick scan, and CCleaner at least once a week.
8. Thanks also AdvancedSetup, I'm happy to find out about this tool as well
9. @ Robin S Alrighty. I just didn't like SD at all when I had it on my computer. It made it slow to a crawl too. I ended up getting a refund. I like Mbam much better personally I also had to hunt and peck for a contact email for PC Tools, but when I did find one, they were helpful and courteous. Are you still having these issues?
10. TRS-80, Just to add to what Firefox said, don't forget to restart after you clear your restore points. As for the temp file cleaner I told you about: Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop or to a folder convenient for you. Information about it can be found here. Once its finished, you should see a blue trashcan on your desktop or to a folder convenient for you. Double click, and accept the prompt by clicking Run. If running Vista or 7, please right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". Click the "select all" check box at the bottom, and if you don't want to clear your Recycle Bin, make sure you uncheck that. Then, click "Empty Selected". If you use Firefox or Opera, click on those names at the top. Do the same thing, choosing select all. If you have saved passwords that you'd like to keep, click NO at the prompt. Again, click "Empty Selected". I recommend running ATF cleaner at least once a week
11. It is odd I haven't had much limited account XP access to be honest, but, when I tried to update Mbam on the Guest account it did not work. It acted as though it was updating, but it was the same database as it was before I went to update. A friend of mine who knows a lot more than I do about it explained to me how the limited account in XP works, and what I told you is basically what he told me. I should make one on my computer and play with it and see what I can do so I understand it better. I dont really have any programs to test with it though - I basically have what I need. Next time a new version of Malwarebytes comes out, I'll download it on there and see what happens I have the paid version though, so I'm not sure how that'll work. Ah well, I know what to do if it gets messed up
12. notenuffletters, Unfortunately that's the way XP works. There's no way around it really. It's like that for nearly ANY program that needs admin access, not just Malwarebytes I personally think its not a big deal to log in to admin, update, then you can log into your limited account for the remainder of the day I understand your frustrations but again, that's the way XP works. I don't use a limited account very often - it can break too many things sometimes and its kind of a pain. So for me, I just am careful as I can, and I have lots of protection. If I do get infected, I know where to go and what I need to do. Try to use the "Add Reply" button though
13. ah hah! Are you running XP, Vista, or Windows 7? At any rate, you need to run as an adminstrator. On XP, you need to be logged in as an administrator period. On Vista, you can right click on malwarebytes and select "Run as administrator", type in the password, and it should update. I am not sure about on 7, you may need to be logged into the administrator account to update from there as well (or the above directions for Vista might work). I have basically no experience with Windows 7, but my understanding is its workings is very similar to Vista with some minor changes.
14. Hello Kathy I, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Please go here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=29028 And see if that might help get Malwarebytes running for you Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thank you
15. You're welcome. That's very strange. Try noknojons advice above. I've never had it grayed out on me before....
16. Hello notenuffletters You do not need to purchase Malwarebytes in order to update the program The Check for Updates button is grayed out under the update tab? It shouldn't be. Malwarebytes is free for home use and updates with no limitations. When replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button when replying. Thank you
17. Hi LazyDave46 You can use CCleaner and this should help clean you up Are you worried about temp internet files or what's been on the computer in the past? These directions were given to me by Exile360, one of our experts here: Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer. Double click on the ccsetup file to start the installation of the program. Select your language and click OK, then click Next. Read the license agreement and click I Agree. Click Next to use the default install location. Click Install then click Finish to complete installation. Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program. On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit). If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla. Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced." deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours." Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program. Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Registry" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items for removal, which can cause issues with other programs. After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit. Also, for a more secure deletion, you can pick the Gutman pass or similar in the Advanced settings tab for a more secure deletion. (I can give you a screen shot later on if that would help if you're interested in using that setting if you can't figure it out). Caution: Do NOT use the registry cleaner portion of CCleaner unless you know what you're doing. Alternatively, do you have the installation disks? You could reformat & reinstall the computer (don't forget to download and install all security patches and updates if you do this) and that would take care of your concern as well. When replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thank you
18. Hello TRS-80, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Did you clean out the temp files first? If not, I can link you to a tool that is a very small size and quickly clears out unnecessary temp files. Also, usually a quick scan is all that is needed My full scan takes between 45 minutes and an hour and 40 minutes. It really depends on the system, how many files are on it, how old it is, and things like that. 27 hours is a really long time though. When replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
19. Ah hah! I just changed the year on my computer to 2016, went to gmail.com, and I got the same message as you Ioni. Good work PedroHin That is more likely than not the problem. Ioni, please check your time and date settings. If you need help with this, let us know!
