  1. You should attach those screenshots or pictures or whatever they are an image of to your post so that no one has to download anything in order to view them Save them as a .jpg, and you'll be able to do that (.bmp is too big to attach I believe). Let me know if you need help doing any of this
  2. You're so very welcome! I'm glad that I could be of assistance to you. You'll be in good hands!
  3. You are quite welcome for both Good luck! Most things are resolvable without a re-format and re-installation, and our experts malware removal experts here are really great Just remember that the Malware Removal Forum can be really busy at times, so it can take 48 hours or more at times to get a reply, so please be patient and don't reply to your own post asking for help or adding more information, as this can make it appear as though you are receiving help. However, if its been more than 48 hours without a reply, feel free to reply to your topic asking for a review. If you do have more information about whats going on that you didn't include and wish to before you receive a reply, save it into a word pad document if possible and/or write it down so you don't forget.
  4. Oh, you're definitely infected then. DO NOT try to make any further changes to your system (no system restore or anything like that). However, try the following link prior to the directions below. If it does not work, read the directions below. In fact, if it DOES work, you still should follow the directions below, as there may be more things lurking that an expert will need to find for you. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=29028 Please read the following, and link back to your topic ( http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=188448 ) when you make your new post in the Malware Removal forum (link given below): We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Thank you
  5. I always download it from MajorGeeks now And like Swagger said, Cnet/Download.com and MajorGeeks are two main hosting places for Malwarebytes, although there are other mirrors as well.
  6. You're welcome B) Hmm. You mean that Malwarebytes has disappeared or the malware that was infecting your computer has disappeared? Don't do any more system restores!!!!! What keeps getting redirected? Google/search engine searches and/or what?
  7. You're very welcome I gotta make this short, gotta go in a sec, but I'll check back in tomorrow As for the clickable link you made earlier, no worries, just don't do it again B) We just generally don't post clickable links in the forum here so people don't accidentally click, especially if they don't know what it is. Acceptable clickable links are from sites such as microsoft, majorgeeks, adobe's official page, and similar pages.
  8. Hello Cassycan, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org B) Can you do any of these? http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573 Also, did you have a chance to read and/or try this: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=34225 If so, (and even if you can't)! please post here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=7 As a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  9. Hello Blueline, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org You should have received an e-mail from Cleverbridge with your ID and Key in it so that you can activate your copy of Malwarebytes Do you have your email from Cleverbridge still? The free version and the full version are the exact same download - when you purchase, you just need to activate it. You're covered from malware, adware, spyware, rogues, and some (but note NOT ALL) viruses and other things that anti-viruses are not good at. Malwarebytes comes in to be good at what AV's are not good at - and that's why they complement each other and should be used together. I hope that you purchased Malwarebytes after removing the found malware Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thank you B)
  10. You're welcome Charles7, I'm glad that that was able solve your updating problem B) However, next time you see Exile360 on the board here, you might want to give him a thanks, he wrote the fix that I posted in this post here http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=188337 Any signs of infection still? Good luck!
  11. Thanks for the detailed reply, vostro1400 B) Sounds like you've been trying a lot. Well, don't uninstall TM just yet... you don't want to be online w/o an AV. Did you add any exclusions to TM yet for Malwarebytes? See if this helps: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=162099 Prior to Mbam not updating... have you had any weird things going on with your computer, or weird things while online?
  12. You're welcome. Do you think that you may be infected, vostro1400?
  13. Well, first you need to download HiJackThis B) Do you have it downloaded already? If not, I can get you a link. However, the helpers in the forum really need the info from the logs generated by the programs in this post here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573 Then when you are finished with that, you post here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=7
  14. @ Beatrix Malwarebytes detects and removes adware too B) I've seen it catch it and delete it on a friends computer, and I had a detection & deletion or two of Adware.MyWebSearch the first time I ran a Malwarebytes scan on my computer. Did you say that you already use a temporary file cleaner? I used to use ATF Cleaner daily (now I can't, long story and I don't really want to get into it) as well as CCleaner. Now I just use CCleaner prior to a quick scan with Mbam. Um, well, I use HostsMan to manage my Hosts files, what's yours called? Or rather, where did you get it? (leave out the http:// part though, to avoid accidental clickage by other users). No worries, I had assistance installing/setting up and learning how to use my Hostsfile manager as well
  15. Yes, chances are you're fine, but like I and others have said before, if you are unsure, get checked and no scanner is 100%. Also, if you can afford it, it would be well-worth your money to purchase Malwarebytes - that way you'd have the realtime protection as well as the scanner, and its just $24.95 for a LIFETIME license for a single, home computer.
  16. Thank you Firefox! I couldn't remember exactly why - it did have to do with the registry if I recall And I agree, scanning all accounts is worth it! I only have one account and as a result I only have one account to worry about, but if I did have more than one, I would scan them all. Currently I do a quick scan while I get ready for bed (after running a temp file cleaner), that way I can do it with all programs shut and just have the computer concentrate on the quick scan
  17. I think you're right Chimpy. Although if I am remembering correctly from reading a post a while back from an Admin or a Mod, individual accounts should be scanned in addition to the Admin account due to malware possibly being in files or malware being leftover on individual accounts that Mbam wouldn't otherwise pick up on when doing just a scan on the Admin account.
  18. Well a friends profile is fine, as are the links to leave a comment or something, but be EXTREMELY cautious of video links and other links your friends might post. Sometimes these can contain the Koobface worm and other malware, and they post them a lot because they're infected and its not REALLY them posting it. Basically, be very careful on Facebook and don't use applications and whatnot.
  19. Welcome. Might be your hosts file blocking it. Wait, you clicking on random links in Facebook? As for Facebook, just directly type www.facebook.com into the browser, that way you KNOW its correct Same goes for other websites that you regularly visit, type them directly in or click on the link in your favorites
  20. I am not sure if you saw my reply to some of your other posts, so I apologize if I am repeating myself, but, you seem very concerned that you are infected so PLEASE get your system checked. 1.You go to a web page that you intend to visit, but then get one of those rouge antivirus pop ups? This can happen due to outdated programs and plugins, a hacked website and.or Facebook application, or getting redirected by an infection you already have. I may be missing a few, but these are the most common. 2. you go to a web page you intended to visit then you get what appears to be a Windows box pop up tha says "Internet Explorer cannot open this page" That can mean that your internet isn't on/is temporarily not working, that the website doesn't exist, or that your HOSTS file is blocking it, depending on the HOSTS setup that you have, or it could be an infection if you are trying to to to an Anti-Virus or other security-minded website.
  21. the only thing I am nearly 100% sure on regarding your question about malware etc residing in there - I believe that malware can alter hosts files but not actually reside there. I'll double check with someone that might know. I'm curious too. What do you mean by a malicious IP being placed there? I'm sorry, but that doesn't' really make any sense to me. Do you use a program such as HostsMan to manage your HOSTS files, or are you taking about the HOSTS that are already on the computer, with SpyBot or?
  22. You shouldn't mess with it unless you know what you are doing or are under the guidance of someone who knows what they are doing.
