  1. I use layered protection also. Plus I barely surf, lol. But since getting a HOSTS file I do surf a little bit more than I have been for the last 8 months Not to mention I keep my programs and plug-ins up to date (that's VERY important). I got rid of Java though because I basically never used it and I was sick another thing to update when I don't really use or need it.
  2. Update: IP Protection is letting me re-tick it now, but I do have a weird protection log from the day it originally happened.
  3. My quick scan (usually) takes anywhere from almost six minutes to ten minutes. I almost always use a temp file cleaner before I run it. Full scan, anywheres from forty-five minutes to an hour and a half, but, I don't run the full scan much anymore, once every few months really, if that.
  4. priviet02, That's good to hear There's a wealth of knowledge to be found on this board, and don't forget, if you need anything, just post
  5. If your firewall produces a log, then you may be able to find out that way. What are you using for a firewall currently? Edit: Go with Wireshark like Exile suggested
  6. K, I'll untick it after I do a few other things I came online to do, and see if I can reproduce this. I'm not doing any web searching of any sort tonight anyway, and of course I am always happy to help! Edit: I unticked it and it will not let me retick. So, I will take care of this soon, thanks again Exile
  7. Sure This link here will help you understand most of the ranking: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12264 Malware hunters are those who have contributed many posts to finding and posting malware. Rogue-reporters do the same, reporting mostly rogues. Translators are those who translate Malwarebytes into different languages. Honorary members are those who have reached a certain number of posts. I hope that this was helpful for you If anyone sees that I may have made a mistake, please feel free to correct me.
  8. You're welcome Norton wouldn't find this detection. I'm sorry, I meant to say that that is normal in Vista and 7. I am going to double check with someone on 7 for you, but I am nearly positive that that is the case. UPDATE: I have confirmed that that is NOT an indication of any infection You can safely choose ignore next time it is detected in Mbam. Since you've had your account hacked, you may want to read the following, just to get your system checked to see if anything is lurking: Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Also, did you change your passwords on both your account name on WOW and the email associated with it? Did Norton find any infections at all? Did Malwarebytes find any other infections other than the one in your log?
  9. You're welcome! Alright, if you are happy with AVG, then that's fine of course I just wanted to present you with a few other alternatives. I actually use AVG myself but will be switching to Kaspersky or Avira (paid) very soon. Do you know why your aunts computer isn't taking AVG? Has her machine had any recent infections on it? I've gotten Avira free on at least three machines, and my friends and family are happy with it And just remember, NEVER install more than one antivirus at a time on a computer; they can conflict together and actually lower your security.
  10. I'm not sure if I am missing something, but where is the logo?
  11. Hello oxegen, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Is this the ONLY symptom that you're seeing? I see that you are running Vista, is that correct? If so, that's actually not harmful at all; the setting in XP is opposite of what it is in Vista, so that explains that detection. You can safely ignore it. Was anything found prior to this scan that you posted? Have you been having any other symptoms of infection? As a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thank you
  12. I just found that my IP protection was ticked off. I do not recall doing this, I want it on, and now I'll check on it every once in a while to make sure its not randomly turned off, but anyway... I right-clicked next to "IP Protection" in the taskbar, clicked next to IP Protection, and a checkmark did not appear. I right-clicked again to see if it appeared afterward, and it did not. Restarting my computer fixed the problem, but, I was wondering if it is normal not to be able to re-enable IP protection without restarting?
  13. @ priviet02 Glad that it's working fine now If you need any other help with the program please just post in the General Malwarebytes forum and someone will be happy to assist you If you have any other issues computer related, please post in the PC Help forum. If you believe you may be infected, please see here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573 and post here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=7
  14. Hello priviet02, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org and thank you for your purchase! Please check the Protection tab and ensure that the "start protection" button has been clicked and is grayed out. If it has been, that means hat protection has been enabled. If you want it to start with windows, make sure that that box is checked off under the protection tab. If you would like to schedule automatic updates and a quick scan, while in the Protection tab, under settings, Make sure that a check mark is placed next to Check for updates automatically at: then choose a time in the drop-down menu. Make sure that a check mark is placed next to Run quick scan automatically at: and again, choose a time in the drop-down menu. Click on the About tab and make sure that your ID is shown. Your Key will look like this: ****-****-****-**** Also make sure that there is a little red & white M in your taskbar That would be Malwarebytes protecting in real-time.
  15. Hello again, kitkin15.tk Ah, I see. It's essential to have an antivirus at all times. I'd recommend Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) or Avira over AVG any day. If you are looking for a good, free AV, please read the following (from Exile360, one of our experts here): -----The following are my recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding): Kaspersky (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avira Antivir (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here ESET NOD32 (free 30 day trial) The official support forum for this product can be found here Microsoft Security Essentials (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Avast! (free for home use) The official support forum for this product can be found here Note: If you decide to use one of the trial versions of one of the paid antiviruses then you will either need to purchase it or uninstall it completely and install a replacement antivirus before the trial expires so that your PC is not left unprotected. MSE Downloads: MSE for XP 32 bit MSE for Vista and Windows 7 32 bit MSE for Vista and Windows 7 64 bit Definitions Installers: Note: if installing the definitions in Windows Vista or Windows 7 you MUST right click the definitions installer and select Run as administrator and click Continue at the User Account Control prompt. 32 bit Definitions Installer 64 bit Definitions Installer You will need a removal tool if you choose to remove AVG and go with something else. I can provide you with this if you want to replace AVG Also, since you previously had Norton/Symantec, you should also run the Norton removal tool, which I can also provide you with. There is not a portable version yet of MBAM, and there may or may not be one in the distant future. This has been discussed many times on the forum here before. You could take a look at these topics (but please do not reply in any of them)! You don't have to read them all; just pick a couple or read them all if you do have some spare time: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35744 http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...ost&p=45374 http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...ost&p=23568 If you are getting paid to do removal on peoples machines (vs volunteering your time to family and friends) you will need a technicians license to legally and ethically run Malwarebytes on other people's infected machines. You can email support@malwarebytes.org or corporate@malwarebytes.org for more information. And as I said before, I really think you should take a trip over to the Malware removal forum, because since you had 1,000 things removed from your machine, there may be something still leftover and/or lurking on your computer. The choice is yours of course, but I would STRONGLY advise you to do so. Thank you again for choosing Malwarebytes
  16. Hello kimmy0127, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Please read the following: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  17. TroyTrojansFan, I know you would like to get rid of this asap but please don't keep posting in this thread about this. Are you receiving help via email or on the forum (HJT forum)? One of your posts in this thread indicates to me that you seem to be receiving help via email. You need to choose one and stick with that. You should not be posting logs and asking malware removal questions in this thread any longer. Please be patient and you will receive help. Thanks
  18. kitkin15.tk, Hello and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org I'm glad that Malwarebytes was able to help get your computer in a safer, working order. However, since you say it removed about 1,000 infections, I think that you should take a visit over here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=7 And post your most recent Malwarebytes log where something was detected, as well as any other important information, so someone can look over it to ensure that nothing else is lurking on your computer. It can take 48 hours or longer for someone to get back to you, especially at busier times (right now is one of those times), so please be patient. Thank you for choosing Malwarebytes Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page.
  19. Pretty sure I saw this or something similar to it on weather.com lol
  20. Please do NOT do a system restore. Just follow marktreg's directions above Thank you
  21. I should print this out and show it around... hehehe
  22. You might want to read this about A-Squared: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=19765 My anti-malware scanner and real-time protection of choice will always be Malwarebytes Sheer numbers don't always give the full picture either; its about how and what a scanner/software program will detect, not how much it will detect Malwarebytes also has excellent heuristics which also gives a deeper scan at the end of the scan.
  23. ma3oony, I suspect that you may be infected as well, unfortunately . Malwarebytes is doing its job by blocking the connections though Please read the following: Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that currently it is quite busy in there, so the wait time might be 48 hours or more before someone is able to get back to you. Or, you may contact support@malwarebytes.org for faster assistance. Thank you
  24. TroyTrojansFan, I'm glad to hear that you that you are not using P2P/file sharing. I suspect that you may be infected, then, unfortunately, if you are constantly getting these popups At least the connections are being blocked, which is good, but the (most likely) underlying infection needs to be cleaned from your machine. Please read the following so that someone can assist you, or, for faster help, please contact support@malwarebytes.org Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.
