Something good, real good, and old.

Moodie Blues (1968) - In Search of the Lost Chord

Oh, YEAH!!!!

I think the MBs were some of the first vinyl I ever bought!

Had all their records!

Still very much enjoy them (they are on a decent rotation at radioparadise.com).

VERY under-rated band.

(Justin Hayward has a new solo record out -- I'm sad to say I was pretty disappointed with it, though.)

Moody Blues incorporated poetry into their albums, and not just the verbal.

Cold hearted orb that rules the night removes the colours from our sight
Red is gray and yellow, white but we decide which is right, and which is an illusion

Pinprick holes in a colourless sky let insipid figures of light pass by
The mighty light of ten thousand suns challenges infinity and is soon gone
Night time, to some a brief interlude to others the fear of solitude

Brave Helios, wake up your steeds bring the warmth the countryside needs

I always think about that when I am on the beach at dawn surf fishing and watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean

But there was poetry in their albums from discussing the electromagnetic spectrum which sound and music is part of to the way the music flows in Days of Future Passed where the day begins in a classical philharmonic morning and reaches a peak of activity as the music moves into the midday and classic late 60's Rock & Roll and winds back down as the afternoon progresses with a slowdown and quieting down of the evening as darkness falls and the music goes from active day and Rock & Roll to a more classical night music.

As the album flows so does the day...

Breathe deep the gathering gloom watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament another day's useless energy spent

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son senior citizens wish they were young

Cold hearted orb that rules the night removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white, but we decide which is right and which is an illusion

The Electromagnetic Spectrum eloquently related by poetry in The Word (Graeme Edge)

This garden universe vibrates complete, some, we get a sound so sweet.
Vibrations, reach on up to become light, and then through gamma, out of sight.
Between the eyes and ears there lie, the sounds of colour and the light of a sigh.
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe, but it's all around if we could but perceive.
To know ultra-violet, infra-red, and x-rays, beauty to find in so many ways.
