PHIL76 Posted August 24, 2009 Author ID:114093 Share Posted August 24, 2009 Hi everyone, Hi GT 500I'm back after a 3 weeks break. I've up-graded Mbam to 1.40 and up-dated the DB(using my 3G card - see former posts) I was secretly expecting a new version after a long break could change something ... sadly the problem is still the same with all the other connexions ! I will look at the forum if someone had this troubleshooting during the last weeks.

eballa1 Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114422 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I'm getting the same error and it seems my problem is that I can't check for updates on any of my antivirus software. I run scans, but no malicious items are detected and when I check for updates, I get the error.I can't even access malwarebytes.org or any other antivirus sites (I can't even get on Microsoft's site), but other sites like yahoo, espn, facebook, etc. work fine. My issue is a hijacked browser. When I do a google search, i get weird unrealted sites.

C0NFU53D_GUY Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114434 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I've had this problem for about a week. I haven't used this computer in about a month before that. I had 1.38 (or 1.39, not sure), then I upgraded to 1.40, it asked me to restart the computer, so I did. When it come back up, I ran MBAM again and looked at how new the definitions were. Database version: 2551 Date: 8/3/2009. Like I said, it was about a week ago so the date when I did all this was 8-18 or 8-20. So I tried updating and it didn't work. I received the 732 Error. When I did all that, I had IE7. I just upgraded to IE8 an hour ago (it kept bothering me about a "Critical Update" so I did it just to shut it up). But my primary Internet browser is Firefox 3. Hahaha, just as I'm writing this, I thought of one last thing. Maybe this will help others, maybe not. I have ZoneAlarm installed on this computer, but I don't have it set to start up with it. I have configured it to allow my commonly used programs that access the internet, to access the internet. Pro and Con about ZoneAlarm: Even when the icon in the corner by the clock isn't visible, it's still loaded and protecting the computer. Anyways, long story short, it allowed the older version of MBAM to access the internet to update, but when I updated to 1.40, ZoneAlarm didn't recognize the program and blocked it. I had to run ZoneAlarm and configure it to allow MBAM to update, and it worked! I guess my advice is to double check ANY firewalls you have installed. Even if they aren't running. This could be Windows Firewall (might even want to add MBAM to the exceptions list), ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security, CA Internet Security, etc.

C0NFU53D_GUY Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114720 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Hi GT500I did it but can't see any line related to MBAM. The number of end points monitored is not changing when I launch MBAM update, or click the error window. The error window appears immediately, there is no delay ... it just looks like the query is not going out (no traces in TCPView, nor in Debugview!!!). Strange !This happened to me when ZoneAlarm was blocking the connection from going out.
C0NFU53D_GUY Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114744 Share Posted August 25, 2009 This happened to me when ZoneAlarm was blocking the connection from going out.The IP address that MBAM was trying to connect to that ZoneAlarm blocked was 208.111.168.6:80. Don't know if that helps anyone. If you have another computer, you could try it from another computer on the same network.
Staff screen317 Posted August 25, 2009 Staff ID:114757 Share Posted August 25, 2009 This happened to me yesterday on a friend's laptop I was cleaning (XP Media Center SP2)Downloaded and installed MBAM fine (database 2551). Tried to update from my home connection (all other computers can update fine here), and got Error 732. Stuck at 2551. Several users in the HijackThis forum are reporting this too..In my opinion, this recent string of Error 732s is not the result of a network setting/proxy. christopherstar Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114858 Share Posted August 25, 2009 I also am trying to resolve this error. Funny thing is, I don't get it on one computer, but do on another one eachon the same network connected to a router and sharing internet access. Also, I am the IT for both computersand keep them relatively the same as far as set-up, programs installed, etc. It is not a setting on my router. It might be a slight difference in settings in IE8 which are on both computers. One thing that is different is thatI am running XP pro on the computer it works, and Home on the one that it does not work. I have read all thesuggestions posted here, but logic tells me that if it works on one, it should work on the other without havingto jump through hoops to make it work, so I gather the solution is a simple one, but have not figured it out yet. Both computers have all windows updates, and are clean after AVG, SpyBot, and Malwarebyte scans (with andwithout the latest update). Malwarebytes works on both, just can't get the latest update on the XP Home one.
christopherstar Posted August 25, 2009 ID:114911 Share Posted August 25, 2009 Perhaps it is something to do with the program that Malwarebytes uses to connect the computerto be updated with the Malwarebytes server. When it updates on my XP computer, a box appearsthat looks like a Windows default image for a remote desktop connection or something. I comparedthe IE8 settings on both computers and set the same but no update yet.

PHIL76 Posted August 26, 2009 Author ID:115068 Share Posted August 26, 2009 This happened to me when ZoneAlarm was blocking the connection from going out.I only have Windows Firewall on this laptop. Exceptions for MBAM programs are set-up (just "in case" because it was working well without in the past !)Moreover I remind you that update is possible on this PC with my 3G card, but is not working when I'm using my business wired network (no proxy) nor with my wifibox at home ... so , if I'm not wrong, I don't think it's a firewall problem. Connected wirelessly to my wifi box at home the MBAM up-date IS NOT working... but internet is working fine and all other softwares updates are OK ???!!! exile360 Posted August 28, 2009 ID:116061 Share Posted August 28, 2009 I'm thinking it could be possible that this has something to do with either your router blocking it or a network setting somewhere, since, as I recall, 3G cards are seen as dialup connections and not regular network connections, so the settings could be different on the same machine. Please follow AdvancedSetup's instructions here to see if any of the fixes he lists will repair the problem. I'm not a specialist and this soft is installed from the origin by our IT guy. As far as I know it create
PHIL76 Posted August 28, 2009 Author ID:116252 Share Posted August 28, 2009 By the way I forgot to remind you that I always had that soft installed since years, and MBAM up-date used to work perfectly in the past with it !

Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted August 28, 2009 Root Admin ID:116357 Share Posted August 28, 2009 A pain but you can unbind the vpn per connection in the network connection properties which should then hopefully allow it to operate.
PHIL76 Posted August 31, 2009 Author ID:117714 Share Posted August 31, 2009 I had a feeling that you had a VPN on the laptop, but it's more likely for an update to fail when the VPN is turned on than when it is turned off.Is there a way to turn the VPN off while connected via the 3G card? You're right, I thought the VPN should make up-date more difficult than the contrary ... !I'll ask our IT guy how I can try the 3G connection with VPN turned off ...and will let you know. FilthyOaf Posted September 13, 2009 ID:126027 Share Posted September 13, 2009 FYI. I had the same error code 732 (0,0) when trying to update. The IE8 install removes the automatic configuration checkbox from the LAN properties dialog of "Internet Options"Once I re-checked that box, MalwareBytes was able to update again.
