MBAM Has Stopped Working Correctly

Recommended Posts

I've experienced a problem that keeps MBAM version 2 from running any updates, (and since it always updates before it scans, it won't scan either).

This is the Windows 7 popup window i get when i run update on MBAM:

"Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correclty.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

-Close Program"

I started with the thread "https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=147581".  as this is the same language used by Windows 7 to report the issue.

I've followed the MBAM Clean procedure as listed HERE.

I also read through the MBAM Diagnostic Logs post HERE.

Thanks for the support!

While we wait for someone to review the logs....

Can we get a copy of the net.conf from your machine as well?

The net.conf file is located in the folder listed below. Please zip it and attach it here.

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\Configuration

Its located in the above folder. Please zip it and attach it here.

Hello sub6fix:

We are sorry to read you are having issues. Each computer is unique. Problems that sound "the same" most often are not.

The same is true for solutions. They most often need to be individualized.

It is less confusing for everyone if we try to stick to "one user per topic".

Please start a NEW, SEPARATE topic using the cjfj.png button.

Staffers and experts will be able to more easily provide both you and the OP with individual help to get you both up and running.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

As an update to my status:

during an internet outage yesterday, my MBAM was able to do a full scan and did not crash when i clicked the 'check for updates'.  (It did not have internet access at the time.)  I hope this helps isolate the issue.  The scan did not detect anything malicious.

We are still looking into the issue. At this time we are not 100% sure what is causing this but hope to have an answer as quickly as possible.

Thank you

Thank you for the update.  In the meantime, i installed and successfully updated & scanned with version 1.65 of MBAM.

Would you like any of the logs and information from this working installation?

Hello BiomassJim:

We still have your diagnostic logs from the #1 post. The logs bring us the very most information when a MBAM2 installation has been made.

Thank you for your patience and understanding though. :)
