  1. I was able to recreate this issue. We will report this issue to IPS and will follow up once we have more info from them.

My guess here is that this bug was introduced with the 4.1.17 since it did include changes to this feature:

    Quote
    • Auto-saved content in the editor will now expire after 48 hours
    • If you load an editor that has previous auto-saved content you will now be prompted to keep or remove it

This link bellow seems to address issues that I am experiencing.  It suggests I remove taskeng.exe manually, and that I download plumbytes to removed unwanted adwares and such. Is this something that MalwareBytes would recommend? or if you have similar tools that I can down load?

    http://blog.removevirusnow.org/taskeng-exe-removal/

The link is actually not correct nor legitimate information on your issue. It is worded in a way to confuse and scare users in to using the software that is advertised on that site. It's technically an online version of a tech support scam. I would not follow it's advice at all.

With that being said, please read my original response again. To recap, taskeng.exe is a legitamte system file that lives in c:\windows\system32. It's what is formally known as the Windows Task Scheduler Engine process. It's used by Windows to perform Scheduled Tasks. You can manage these items by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler.

If you want a second set of eyes on things, I recommend posting a FRST log and a saved Autoruns file. Directions are included below to help you out.

    Creating FRST Logs:

Please download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit

    • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press the Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
    • The first time the tool is run, it also makes another log (Addition.txt). If you've, run the tool before you need to place a check mark here.
    • Please attach the Additions.txt log to your reply as well.

    Create an Autoruns Log:

    • Please download Sysinternals Autoruns from here.
    • Save Autoruns.exe to your desktop and double-click it to run it.
    • Once it starts, please press the Esc key on your keyboard.
    • Now that scanning is stopped, click on the Options button at the top of the program and select Verify Code Signatures
    • Once that's done press the F5 key on your keyboard, this will start the scan again, this time let it finish.
    • When it's finished, please click on the File button at the top of the program and select Save and save the Autoruns.arn file to your desktop and close Autoruns.
    • Right click on the Autoruns.arn file on your desktop and hover your mouse over Send To and select Compressed (zipped) Folder
    • Attach the Autoruns.zip folder you just created to your next reply

  3. @Learner2016, I'm moving this topic to the General Windows PC Help section since your issue is with taskeng.exe.

With that being said, taskeng.exe is the Windows Task Scheduler Engine process. It's used by Windows to perform Scheduled Tasks. You can manage these items by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler. Alternatively, you can utilize tools like Microsoft Sysinternals Autoruns or FRST to review and manually manage scheduled tasks.

If you want to get really advanced and capture the full process activity of taskeng.exe, you can utilize tools like Microsoft Sysinternals Process Monitor or Process Explorer. You could even use Task manager to show you the command line for a process but you have to manually add that column.

Yepp the second pic was probaly my fault clicking the link after i logged out, and yes i have edited the url as it is now correct

Anyway the first picture happend when i clicked the bookmark in my Chrome browser, i use that evry time i go to the forum (you see it at top right in the picture) and it happend 3-4 times before the normal site loaded

Alright, so one of two problems are solved. Can you look at the actual bookmark and check the URL? What is it set to?

  5. @pondus, the only way I can reproduce the first one is if I try to use an actually banned account and the second one only occurs if you try to access a part of the site when you haven't logged in yet (aka effectively you are a "Guest").

Looking at the URL in the second screenshot and what was actually embedded in the URL in your first post before you edited it, that is an action that a Guest cannot perform (https://forums.malwarebytes.org/forum/175-forums-announcements-feedback/?do=add). My guess here is you may have accidentally been logged out of the forums.

If you can share any sort of steps to reproduce these issues differently, please let me know so we can track down the problem with IPS.

I really don’t know but I thinks some of it is a FP and I wish if I can but I can’t there are no any websites listed in exclusions ! but only few programs .!

I'm confused by this since in your first post you stated that you created exclusions. I'm also confused on how you do not know what website you visited. If you can't fill us in on those details, there isn't much we can do to help. So help us help you better so to speak.

Like in your other thread, I recommend following these directions so we can best help you resolve these types of things:

I've just tried 3.0. Will it include access policy like in 2.0?

I think you are talking about what is called User Access in 3.0. It's under Settings > Application > User Access. If that's not it, let me know.

yes ! correct ! I will make a new screenshot right now ! but I have a problem with my capture software so I will uninstall it and re-install it !

You could always just use the Snipping Tool inside of Windows. Might be quicker/easier. Alternatively you could utilize Alt+PrintScreen then Paste in to Paint and save an image.

Do you know if  Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 3.0 will be able to auto install new versions of the software when they become available, without any user interaction?

Currently Malwarebytes 3.0 has an automatic update feature. Most of it can be updated without user interaction. If the whole program/build needs to updated to a new version, there may be a few buttons to press in an installation wizard to complete the process.

I have a lifetime license of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Will I be able to upgrade to version 3.0 free of charge?

As stated in the link announcing MB 3.0, existing users will be grandfathered in and will also keep their yearly subscription price. So for your specific situation, your lifetime license will still carry over.
