  1. You may try adding exceptions in your antivirus software and firewall for malwarebytes. Also before you run a full scan you may try clearing out temp files using a program like CCleaner. Listed below are the files that need to be excluded in your firewall and antivirus program. Please exclude the following files from your antivirus: Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 32 bit versions Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Please post back and let us know how it went.
  2. You may try a program like Dail-A-Fix and see it it restores your IE8 settings and re-registers your dll files for internet explorer. Another useful tool to delete those would be to use a program like CCleaner. Hope that helps you.
  3. Contact one of the Admins or you could try AdvancedSetup He should be able to direct you in the right direction.
  4. Just a question? Having a large host file (like almost 4MB) does it not slow down your internet surfing?
  5. Hello mancub72, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org Although this method may work on some computers, MBAM was really not designed to run this way. Malwarebytes was really designed to run and do its best work on the computer that was infected. Best course of action to take would be to post in the HJT section for help by following the below instructions: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post. Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org
  6. Hello quillz, and Welcome to Malwarebytes As for the items in your listed in the Quarantine. If there are items in the Quarantine, they are not running active on your computer. these are there for you in case it needs to be restored. Not often but it does happen, there may be a false positive and it may need to be restored. I tend to leave things in my quarantine folder for about a week or so if I do find something. This way it gives the folks here at MBAM a few days to see if any items found and removed caused any problems and need to be restored. It is your choice of course how you handle them. Some folks like to remove them right away, but that's their choice. Hope that helps. As for the DCOM error, perhaps if you can give us a little more info, we may be able to help you with that as well, and perhaps post it in the PC Help section.
  7. its just that when you boot up, the drivers for the nic are not fully enabled yet, and it has not received an IP address yet. Once it is done initializing it will become that Globe you are talking about. It it stays with the ! then it failed to connect to the Internet (and also receive an ip address)
  8. Please do the following to see if it corrects the updating problem: Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer: Click on Start and select Run In the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f Try updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2 Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs: For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products. Thanks
  9. At this time there is no portable version available and it can not be run from a boot cd or usb flash drive. This has been discussed several times in the Comments and Suggestions section, you can search through there. Far as I remember, and I am sure they will correct me if I am wrong, its not high in the priority list at the moment, as fighting the lastest malware is keeping the developers busy.
  10. Your welcome, please be patient when waiting for some one to reply, they are quite busy in that section.
  11. @ Deezpnuts Glad that fixed it for you.... Glad I could help.

  14. Please try this on the computer that is having an issue. 1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel. 2. Restart your computer (very important). 3. Download and run this utility. mbam-clean.exe 4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to). 5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. mbam-setup.exe Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray and that you can run a quick scan and all is working as expected.
  15. Yeap, and that is for a lifetime license too.... Only have to buy it one time (per computer that is, unless you transfer from one computer to another)
  16. you can find information on the new IP Protection feature HERE if that does not answer your question or need clarification stop by and let us know.
  17. Glad you got it working. The registry tweak would probably work just fine if you go that route. As for your suggestion above you may try actually submitting that suggestion HERE
  18. How much memory depends on what you have installed on a computer. For example a windows XPSP3 install with all updates, Office 2007, Adobe CS3, and a few other tools with AV, MBAM, Roxio burning software. That image is about 7GB to 8GB. It spans the images to anywhere from 2GB to 4GB files depending on if the hard drive you are putting the image on is FAT32 or NTFS. Fat32 has a 2GB file size limit that is why it makes them 2GB.
  19. SURE Here are a few: Symantec Norton Ghost ( I use this one, kinda... I have a corporate edition that works a little different) Acronis True Image With the corp editon I make clones of hard drives (image files) and then I can send that clone to say 20 computers at one time, and then I just change the computer name and I have 20 identical computers. I think you can make a clone with the above two programs listed for your single computer too. If you need more info let me know
  20. if you cant get it to install, you can start a new thread if you like.
  21. You may have some data corruption on that hard drive. The reason you can not see the folders, is because they are probably hidden or protected. You need to run a Checkdisk on that hard drive and maybe run some sort of hard drive diagnostics to test your hard drive. Also run a disk cleaner (like CCleaner) to help get rid of temp files to help speed up and possible get a successful full scan. Come back and let us know if you need further instructions on running a disk scan, and let us know what operating system you are using. Here are some instructions: Please run a Disk Check on your C: drive: Click Start and open My Computer Right-click on C: and select Properties Click on the Tools tab Under Error-checking click the Check Now... button Mark the box next to Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors When the message box pops up, click the Schedule disk check button and restart your computer Once the disk check completes after a reboot, go ahead and try scanning again to see if it works this time. If it does not then proceed with the following to see if it corrects it: Windows XP: Click on Start and select Control Panel Open Add/Remove Programs Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates. Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it. Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click on the Start Orb and select Control Panel Click on Programs and Features Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Restart your computer very important Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. 22. I keep a ghost image of the kids computers, not because I don't have protection on them, but if by any chance they get hosed up, I don't worry about even cleaning it up, I just re-image it from my saved copy, do a few updates and its right back to normal. No data is saved on their computers......
