For decades I was a big Norton Antivirus Fan.
Why?
Norton Antivirus is lightweight on the Computer, even if that Computer did not have to much power.
Norton did earn Top-Points in AV-Test´s (av-test.org/pcmag.com and other´s).
Norton has plenty of option´s to play around with - but you don´t have to.
Norton has a quick reacting user-interface - you click the Norton tray icon and it open´s up - like booom.
Where is Malwarebytes now?

What went wrong with Norton?
When you have a look in the Norton Forum you might see plenty of people complaining about the aggressive selling of stuff they have not bought yet.
For example: you buy Norton Antivirus standalone and then you receive pop ups telling you, to buy even more to be secure (like backup, vpn, browser security).
You can not switch them off and as a result, more and more people get really upset.
Dear Malwarebytes-Team,
you have an excellent Software that is on the top of the ladder - there is no reason for you to step down.
I hope you never think about going in a direction like norton goes right now.

Clicking on the "real time protection" in the GUI should bring you to the "protection settings" i think that would be a quick shortcut.
that´s the same I thought a minute ago...

in the "general settings" scroll down and turn off "always register Malwarebytes in the windows security center" this will activate both protections. (If this is what you are looking for.)
yes, now I am happy with the option still there.
found my mistake...
I double clicked on the icon, if I click once it´s all good.
If I click once or twice on the windows defender icon it just opens it.
I use a program called PDF24 Creator, and you have to click twice on the tray icon to open it, I was used to double click on everything in the task bar.
Clicking twice is the fastest "program" response time I have ever seen in my life. WOW

I installed Malwarebytes, clicked around looking for the option to use Defender as a second scanner ... could not find it...
I closed Malwarebytes and now I can not re- open it by just click on the tray icon, I don´t know what happend.
I can open Malwarebytes by right click on the tray icon and "open Malwarebytes".
Once clicking on the Tray Icon it open´s it and closes it ... at the speed of light ... (Malwarebytes appears and disappears at almost the same time)
I had to quit Malwarebytes.
I opend it again - did a scan, closed the interface with the "X" Button on the right corner and ... it happend again - I can not re- open Malwarebytes using a left click on the tray icon anymore.
- once hovering with the mouse over the tray icon, maybe you could show the installed version
The speed you can now open Malwarebytes is very impressive - well done.
Would you like me to post all my feedback here in this forum?

just read the last Beta post carefully,
is this a hint, that Malwarebytes 5 is arriving shortly?
- Fixed: Scheduled scan cannot be started leading to Crash (Win11 only, MB4 and 5)
-
Thank you for fixing it,
and don´t forget to enjoy your time off.

@Steve1982Sorry for the delay - I fixed the issue so I thought it was sorted out and I don't have this issue.. Can you send me another debug logfile + a scan logfile?
Note that I have some long-awaited time off coming on, so I might not be able to answer for a couple weeks, sorry in advance for the delay..
I can send you those files too, the problem is still there...

The problem seems solved.
The only thing I notice: when opening Malwarebytes for the first time, click Real-Time-Protection,
it takes up to 3-5 seconds before the Security news window is filled - before the problem occured I have never noticed a delay like that.

Malwarebytes (latest updates) show´s no Security News anymore.
I did a clean reinstall with the Malwarebytes Support Tool - still no change.

Thank you for your explanation - I can understand that it might be really hard to please all types of users 🙂

That functionality however would have required more effort and we didn't want to delay this update any longer.
cool - thank you for all the work.

Hello Malwarebytes-Team,
"Users are now allowed to suppress Scan Notifications when no threats are found"
can you set this as default setting?
Compared to Norton this setting is kind of hiding itself for the users face. What about, if you move it in the "Notification" Section of Malwarebytes?

Yes, MBAE internally recognizes a dozen or so email clients and applies different application hardening logic (although similar) than the browser family. No need to create custom shield for email clients.
what about other PDF-Tools, like PDF24 - are they protected as well, even if they are not in the list with protected applications?

"Users are now allowed to suppress Scan Notifications when no threats are found"
Thank you!
In my opinion, this is a "big" thing 🙂 great to see it happen!
It makes Malwarebytes just a bit more convenient to use.
Thanks
don´t forget to translate it in to german...
some more german translation missing...
Beside the translation - everything works fine with the new beta 🙂

I created a new account, once I entered my licence key, it said: "allready registered" - I think this might be because of the e-mail I used back in the day´s...?
- I don´t use this e-mail adress anymore.
and I don´t get the point at using the My Account page - everything is working fine... what would be the benefit?

normally the license would get backed up and as long as there were no hardware changes and you reinstalled again on the same system it would auto activate on reinstall.
If this is from a license back from 2014 then it's possible there was an issue in your My Account page with the license?
there is no hardware change,
I have never used the My Account page...

in Malwarebytes free there is some german translations missing:
this is not a god german: "jetzt Upgrade"
better: "jetzt updaten" or "auf Premium updaten"
and the installation programm uses more english than german sometimes ...
for example: choose the Malwarebytes Browser Guard

Hi,
today I had a strange behavior using the Malwarebytes Support Tool - I found a solution - but maybe there might be a problem that affects other users as well...?
If you want to dig deper I will send you all I got.

I decided to uninstall Malwarebytes using the M.-Support-Tool and reinstall it again.
During the uninstall or install I lost my licence...
usally my licence get´s somwhere on the desktop at this stage, but nothing appeared...
after that, I had Malwarebytes without my licence - the free version appeard
I did a clean reinstall again, my licence was not there anymore...
At the end, I found my licence key in my old e-mail from the year 2014 - just to let you know, that something went wrong, and maybe you want to look at it.

Hi everyone,
what about translating the Malwarebytes-Support-Tool in different languages - like german?
Because sometimes it is a very usefull tool - and it would be easy to use, to have it in the language that you need it.
easy to upgrade, but...
in Malwarebytes 5 for Windows
Posted · Edited by FetzBox22
looks nicer now
I find it very easy to upgrade, because the upgrade process stay´s in the same window and it´s easy to use.
But,
"your subscription will renew automatically at the then-current renewal price on your renewal date. You can disable the Auto-Renew Service after completing your purchase."
This is something many big Antivirus Company´s are doing.
In my opinion it would bring you more trust, to allow people to set the automatically renewal - after they bought the program
(let them decide, not choosing for them).
Because sometimes people forget about it, and after a year they might wounder what´s going on.
Some Antivirus-Test might rate you lower, because of that setting.
If you want to keep it this way, then it would be very helpful to have it clear stated on the account page, that they have a auto renewal going on.
- by the way, I could not find the account page...
what you could do, there is plenty of space,
in here you could state the day´s left, or have a link to the account page.
(I don´t know what it looks like in Malwarebytes 4x because I have a lifetime-licence.)
