  1. A limited account in XP can sometimes break updates to an AntiVirus and you have to manually install Windows Updates via the Admin account if you normally use a limited account. Have you been making sure (via admin account) that your AntiVirus updates at least once a day and making sure once a month that your critical updates for XP are being downloaded and installed?
  2. nthuzed, Awesome, I'm glad that that worked for you You're quite welcome. God Bless you too.
  3. Denny, Awesome, I'm glad that that helped you out And you're welcome, not a problem at all! I actually don't work for Malwarebytes, but I am a regular member at the forum here and a very satisfied customer too. I'm glad that you decided to upgrade; it provides another excellent layer of protection for your computer and is a great way to support the fine people at Malwarebytes Thanks for the well wishes for the company though They definitely deserve it!!
  4. Awesome, that's good news There shouldn't be any problems. If you ever DO have a problem, feel free to post for help if the exclusions I gave you in the link don't work. Once in a while an AV (antivirus) program has an issue with Malwarebytes, but it is more often than not the AV's issue, not Malwarebytes. For example, AVG has had a lot of issues lately with Malwarebytes because of bad database updates. I strangely haven't had any issues with it but I am switching from AVG to something else soon, the above being one of the several reasons.
  5. Oh, okay. Glad that you haven't had any issues so far Correct, two Anti-Virus programs shouldn't be used together at the same time, but Malwarebytes is designed to complement your Anti-Virus program. There seems to be a lot of misconception at times about this as a lot of people seem to think that an antivirus and an antimalware program shouldn't be used together and so they tell others that as well, and that is not the case. They should be used together, because they are top notch at different things, and complement each other. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is good at what the Anti-Virus programs are not good at. Also, Please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page when replying
  6. Are you running a quick scan or a full scan? The vast majority of the time, all that's needed is a quick scan.
  7. You should be able to use them together just fine I know you're not using AVG but the exclusions you would need to add would be the same/very similar, so please take a look at this post here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...st&p=167851 Have you had any issues thus far?
  8. Hi DennyC55 and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org and thank you for your purchase Please try the following and let me know if it helps: 1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel. 2. Restart your computer (very important). 3. Download and run this utility. 4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to). 5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail. Also, as a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thank you
  9. You're welcome Okay, cool. If nothing works let me know and you'll need to go to the Malware Removal Forum as you may still be infected.
  10. Hello nthuzed, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org So I am assuming that you've already tried this then? (see rest of my reply further down after this) Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer: Click on Start and select Run In the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f Try updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2 Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs: For Windows XP: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products. Now try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once more and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 3 Step 3: Verify Your Internet Connection Settings: Open Internet Explorer Note: It MUST be Internet Explorer, not Firefox, Opera, Chrome or any other internet browser [*]Click on Tools at the top and select Internet Options Note: If you do not see Tools, press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will show up [*]Click on the Connections tab [*]Click on the LAN settings button [*]Under Automatic configuration make sure that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked, if it is not, then click the box next to it to check it [*]Under Proxy server make sure that the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). is not checked and if it is, click the box next to it to uncheck it [*]Click on the OK button to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window [*]Click on the OK button to close the Internet Options window [*]Try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to see if it now works correctly You may still be infected, then, unfortunately, or there may be another reason you're unable to get updates. Try this first then: If you are having any problems with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware protection please do the following. 1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel. 2. Restart your computer (very important). 3. Download and run this utility. 4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to). 5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here. Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via e-mail if using the paid version. As a side note, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you Please let me know if the second fix worked for you in your reply.
  11. Hello and welcome! (apologies for being a little late)
  12. Hello Ursula82, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Please see here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?s...st&p=162100 And scroll to where it says Registry Switches for Controlling IP-Blocking You want #1, silentipmode. Let me know if that does the trick for you Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page. Thanks.
  13. @ Tigerllc741 My computer takes 45 mins to an hour and a half for a full scan (Which I do maybe once a month) and 6-10 mins max for a quick scan (done at least every other day since its so quick, hehe). If you haven't already, I suggest that you use a temp file cleaner prior to your scan (quick or full, and I do recommend the quick scan). Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to a place convenient for you, such as your desktop. Information on it may be found here. Once its finished downloading, you should see a blue trashcan on your desktop or to a folder convenient for you. Double click, and accept the prompt by clicking Run. If running Vista or 7, please right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". Click the "select all" check box at the bottom, and if you don't want to clear your Recycle Bin, make sure you uncheck that. Then, click "Empty Selected". If you use Firefox or Opera, click on those names at the top. Do the same thing, choosing select all. If you have saved passwords that you'd like to keep, click NO at the prompt. Again, click "Empty Selected". I recommend running ATF cleaner at least once a week
  14. Awesome LinKot I'm glad that that worked for you!!
  15. Agreed, no ads is nice, and I find it to be a bit more accurate often times, plus weather.gov is more detailed, but I do check weather.com sometimes too, to compare.
  16. Edit: Apologies, we posted the directions at the same time.
  17. Hello Adam, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Unfortunately you are most likely infected. Please read the following: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. If you are unable to do all or any of the steps in the link to the directions above, just post your problem into the forum I gave you a link to anyway and someone will be able to assist you. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  18. Thanks for the additional info & links, Chimpy
  19. @ Catscomputer Nope, its not on my Firefox plugins. I had gotten rid of Viewpoint then when I updated aim, it re-installed it self claiming it was "necessary" for aim. Bleh. But I uninstalled it afterwards. Silly Viewpoint
  20. You're welcome. We all make mistakes. That's how we learn sometimes. Well, happy lurking, and of course don't hesitate to post if you have any questions or need help. Even though I am a pretty frequent member here, I do a lot of lurking myself
  21. It's okay, you didn't mean to It's fine to post of course - just no clickable links unless they are links to other posts in this forum, directly from Microsofts website, Adobe's website, things like that. And definitely no clickable links to infections and/or infected websites, which you know now. If you do find any infected website or file on a website and would like to report it, just post it here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=44 and either leave out the http:// part or wrap it in code tags so its not clickable
