  1. Im having some very minor but very annoying issues with pop ups. heres what ive been experiencing- -Obviously, lots of pop ups. i probably get one about every three minutes, give or take. -I am currently typing this on Mozilla FireFox. i searched their website on how to stop pop ups, followed their instructions, and i havent seen any changes yet. -Keep in mind that i also have Windows Explorer installed on my computer, but i do not use it. -One of the steps was to find out the source of the pop ups. It said that the pop-ups tell you which browser they are coming from, but it is very confusing. When one shows up, (it opens in a completely different window), it has the firefox logo in the upper left hand corner, but then it tells me that it is coming from Internet Explorer. Forgive me if that is hard to understand, that is the only way i can explain it. -I have pop ups blocked on firefox, still no change. on Internet explorer, not only do i have pop-ups blocked, but i have set the blocking level to high and still no change. -I have no allowed sites for pop-ups in neither my firefox or IE. -I have no virus or spyware. i did a full system scan earlier today, and it found nothing. i am also doing another full system scan as i am typing this, and so far it has found no threats. i do all my scanning with AVG Anti-Virus Free. I read that it is recommended that I should download another anti-virus to find things that the other missed, but due to past experiences, ive learned that this is one thing i should not do. am i wrong? Hopefully this is just a minor problem, and any help i can get would be great! Thanks for your time, Adam
  2. So I tried the dr.web cure it and that didnt work. and i cannot do the second one, as it is directly off of the internet, and i am not able to get on the internet on that computer (im typing this/downloading items on a different computer)
  3. Okay so I got a fresh copy of ComboFix.exe, and nothing happened. Not even the little box that asks me if I'm sure I want to run this program opens. Perhaps I didn't find all the files needed to properly uninstall? I only found two of the four folders you told me about. But I am curious, how is my computer doing? Are things looking pretty good or bad? Do you know what the problem is?
  4. First, allow me to apologize fir the long response time. I've recently become kind if busy, but I'm doing my best to get back to you. I did all the steps to uninstall combifix, but after I types in ComboFix / Uninstall, and click OK, nothing happened. Is that normal?
  5. Nope it did not run. I checked again to see if I had the original explorer.exe but I did not find it.
  6. I checked back, and at post 15, I said that it dissapeared immeditately after I ran it, so this was a while back. But, I still have ComboFix.exe on my desktop. Do you want me to rename that and try again?
  7. system restore is unfortunetly an application with an .exe file to start it up, and no .exe files work on my computer, so that will not work. Anyway, we'll try again tomorrow.
  8. I can't remember if I've ever told you this before, but it didn't work.
  9. How dare you ask such a question! Haha just kidding I'm rebooting right now.
  10. okay, scanning is complete, but when the the box closed that monitered the progress, nothing happened. Good or bad?
  11. okay I have it scanning right now. Give me a few minutes.
  12. I have an Operating System Disc, is that what I need to put into the computer?
  13. I might be holding it in my hand right now, but im not sure if it is the disc for it. I'm checking all over looking to see if anything matches up.
