.reg file in my documents folder

I just want to check if this is normal:

After a complete re-format, I started downloading all the Windows updates. After the last one (for the net frame thing) a .reg file appeared in my documents folders. I do not want to move it or delete it b/c I am not that informed with advanced computer knowledge. It this OK that the .reg file is there, or is it a bug.

Also, after this file appeared, my taskbar has 'problems' remembering what quick launch icons I put on it. My browser shortcuts specifically keep being removed.

It's a CCleaner registry backup file containing the items removed by the application's Registry cleaner...

BTW,  you can simply open the file in Notepad to view its contents

The other symptoms also indicate you must have ran CCleaner.   Have a look at the documentation in order to familiarize you with its various options and the effects they have:

http://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner

For any further questions you may have there's of course also their Support Forum

One other note.  In folder options you have enabled "Hide extensions of know file types".  That should be disabled to so you can see if it is really a .REG file and not an executable (EXE) file using the Registry icon to hide its intent.

TonyKlein,

Before you stop this thread, may I ask another question? This is a copy from a post I made at the Comodo IS/AV forums earlier today. Since it seems MalwarebytesForums is the best/fastest at answering posts, I though I's ask here. See below:

:::::::::::

Hello all (yet again!)
While completing my Windows updates after reformatting earlier this week, 2 Comodo Alters popped up, my screen flickered resulting in my entire toolbar disappearing, then the computer shut down automatically.
I was able to restart with no problem, then I checked my event logs:

Report 1:
(description)
Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.4.8.exe could not be recognized and requests unlimited access to your computer

(advice)
explorer.exe is a safe application. However, the executable Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.4.8.exe could not be recognized. Please submit to Comodo for analysis.

The process was automatically Allowed

Report 2:
(description)
Installer.msi is trying to access explorer.exe in memory

(advice)
The parent application that is accessing the target application in the memory will allow the parent  application to fully control the target application

The process was automatically Denied

IS this something I need to worry about? I was nit using a USB today, just straight download off of the MS update site, and MBAM, and Kapersky.

Though I do understand that this may be a product specific question, any help would be great. Comodo Mods do not typically answer posts by non-subscribers...

I did download the Linux ISO and pen-drive setup to my desk top, but I did not try to install it as I have no thumb drive that I can use. I have one that I use regularly, but that is just for my school work.

I started my computer today and had a problem with start up; almost 10 minutes to log on.

I ran Mbam and it reported that I am infected with something (see below).

Yesterday, I re-downloaded HJT and I think it was bundled with several other programs. I tried to stop installation, but it would not stop installing, so I did a force shut down.

Are these entries safe to simply remove?
