  1. I would have to agree with Firefox running these two together at the same time wouldn't be advisable as it will cause conflicts like the one you described in the above quote the general rule of thumb to avoid conflicts is is run: 1 anti-virus 1 firewall 1 anti-spyware/anti-malware- * in real time protection * & don't have them running on-demand scans at the same time I too prefer to run a scan with one and then the other not at the same time as one application might detect a file mark it for deletion but be unable to delete it because its locked by the other application that's scanning it or visa-versa in addition to that these applications use many of the same system resources and running scans at the same time could cause the CPU to spike repeatedly causing the system to freeze up and possibly crash its like two dogs fighting over a bone
  2. OK follow Yardbirds advise in post above and an Expert will assist you
  3. sounds like she got the wrong download be aware there are impostors out there that are trying to ruin Malwarebytes good name Malwarebytes removes malware its not a registry cleaner it will delete registry keys related to the malware it finds but it doesn't modify or delete entries that are not related to its detections & it will never make you buy it before it will do its job if possible upload a copy to the research center for the researchers to look into, Side Note About Registry Cleaners: 99.9% of them are junk and will do more damage than good,If you modify the registry and make an error it will damage the system make it unbootable and useless Registry modifications should only be made by someone properly trained

  12. Here are some steps to diagnose update issues: Step 1 Please note that if you have a version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware older than 1.46, that it will not be able to connect to our update servers. If you have an outdated version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then please click on this link to be forwarded to one of our download mirrors in order to get the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. If that does not resolve the issue, then please continue on to steps 2 thru 5. Step 2 Click on this link and let me know what it says. It should be just a 4-digit number in the upper-left corner. Step 3 If you use Norton Internet Security, and you have the Add-On Pack installed, then please note that the Add-On Pack will block the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware update process. Symantec has discontinued support for the Add-On Pack, and they have asked us to recommend to their customers that they uninstall the Add-On Pack and replace it with Norton Online Family. Since Norton Online Family is compatible with the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware update process, replacing the Add-On Pack with it will solve any Norton Internet Security related update issues. Step 4 Please download and run the traceroute utility at this link. It will run a traceroute to our update servers to see if it can find the connection issue, and then it will write it to a log, and open that log in Notepad when it is done. Please either save the log as a Text File and then attach it to a reply, or copy and paste it into a reply, and I will forward it on to our server guy. Note that it may take several minutes to run, and it may look like it is not doing anything for a few minutes. Normally it takes longer when there are errors that it has to log, but it's rare for it to go more than 10 minutes. We need to know what "Remote Address" Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is trying to connect to. Once it shows up in the list, you can right-click on the line for mbam.exe, and select 'Copy' in order to paste it into a reply. It will tell me what I need to know. Below is an example of what the line you are looking for will look like inside the following code box: mbam.exe:3656 TCP vista-x64:52135 cdn-208-111-168-7.ord.llnw.net:http ESTABLISHED

  19. hello carl606 welcome aboard hey don't I know you from somewhere
  20. Hello Gmanson are you referring to (page last updated 7-23-2010) ? I fairly sure that this is more than likely the last time that webpage was modified the links for Malwarebytes are good the Experts working the forums use them all the time so they stay pretty up to date the manual update does usually run a little behind the current definitions, the definition there I downloaded and checked it isn't too far off for the offline update, the current definitions are 4783 the offline update is 4700
  21. I give my pc a complete audit every other week sometimes more since I started dabbling in malware research I analyze it from top to bottom inside and out edit just noticed this is on a public board so I wanted to add I do that research very very very carefully and don't recommend anyone without experience try some of the things I & the other researchers may try
  22. just killing off processes with task manager isn't good advise, someone with less experience won't recognize all those processes and could accidentally kill a process that's system critical and that could lead to a stop error & a system crash, see when you kill a process this way it terminates it without allowing it to save its state or data, and that could lead to data lost or system instability
  23. CCleaner does a real good job cleaning up temporary files including tracking cookies
  24. hey shy Aurora Borealis, that's the northern lights isn't it ?? soo pretty
