  1. I had a problem back in February, where I had the motherboard replaced. See Wilders > Hardware > hardware So, maybe something was changed, then. Yes...the service is set to automatic, but does it really matter whether the recommended setting is manual as per that msft link you posted?
  2. I have 3 snapshots currently that I use. The particular service would be common to these snapshots. As far as I know I did nothing special with the service. See screenshot. Hope this helps. P.S. I can't post the screenshot, but it has C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllhost.exe /Processid:{02D4B3F1-FD88-11D1-960D-00805FC79235} showing under "Path to executable"
  3. I run various snapshots for testing purposes. I was surprised find to a detection when I ran todays quick scan. I allowed MBAM to clean the detection. However, I booted into another snapshot, and updated the definition set to the latest before I ran a quick scan, lo and behold I got the same detection. As I don't believe lightning strikes in the same place twice, it seems to me that this is a false positive. I have included the scan details: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.51.0.1200 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 7118 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.5512 14/07/2011 10:27:56 AM mbam-log-2011-07-14 (10-27-48).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 157762 Time elapsed: 6 minute(s), 7 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 1 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\SERVICES\COMSYSAPP\Start (Hijack.Comsysapp) -> Bad: (2) Good: (3) -> No action taken. 4. As one of the beta testers, I had to uninstall. Also, as the the new version hadn't propagated as yet, I reinstalled the 1.50 version from December last year. After that install, the new version became available via the the internal updater. However, I notice that it appears my paid version now appears to be unregistered. I suppose my version is a trial version for the moment, and I will able to enter my registration at the end of this trial period.
  5. Installed on top of existing Pro version in XP Pro 32bit SP3. No issues.

  8. See scan results...go figure! Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 4143 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 26/05/2010 9:23:58 AM mbam-log-2010-05-26 (09-23-58).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 122165 Time elapsed: 9 minute(s), 0 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected)
  9. I don't know why, but it is running OK now...see screenshot.
  10. YoKenny1, thanks but I would rather just keep a low profile....I wouldn't know what to put in a signature.
  11. I can not complete a scan. The GUI disappears after running for a about 15 seconds during scanning memory objects for infection. P.S. It runs if I go into Safe Mode.
  12. I got the following popups:- --------------------------- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware --------------------------- The latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware has been downloaded. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now close and install the latest version. --------------------------- OK Cancel --------------------------- --------------------------- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam-setup.exe --------------------------- Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- --------------------------- Error --------------------------- C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam-ssdt-32.sysAn error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:MoveFile failed; code 32.The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation. --------------------------- Abort Retry Ignore --------------------------- The first is to be expected, the second is overcome by shifting the exe and running from my desktop and the third is what the heck! Hit retry...but no go until I closed out of PE Guard(SeeWilders). Anyway, the upshot is, I got it installed.
  13. Updating 1.44 through the GUI.... --------------------------- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam-setup.exe --------------------------- Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- I went to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and tried to run the .exe from there. I got the same message even though I ran as Adminstrator. I then copied the setup.exe to my Desktop and was able to run from there, successfully.(Reboot now or reboot later...I chose later, and ran the a quick scan....see below). P.S. This was in a snapshot where I was still running version 1.44, and not the RC 1.45 version that I was testing, also. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.45 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 3930 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 30/03/2010 8:21:17 AM mbam-log-2010-03-30 (08-21-17).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 107484 Time elapsed: 5 minute(s), 57 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected)
  14. Well, I think this custom Quad Q6600 with XP Pro Sp2 will stretch until then....knock on wood!
  15. Works for me ...in Opera. P.S. But, don't ask me how I got it to work...because I don't remember anymore. I remember it was fiddly to set up.
  16. I guess i am late to the party, because it took me two years to become an honorary member. But, now, it is all stations go!
  17. This thread has reached the top of the charts with more hits than misses.
