I remember the last time Malwarebytes had a failure in a bad update... ..."Malwarebytes has been extremely apologetic, promising to do better in the future. “I want to offer my sincere apology to our millions of customers and free users”, company founder Marcin Keczynski wrote in a blog post. “I started this company because I thought everyone was entitled to malware-free computing. We acted overzealously in that mission and realize far superior procedures around updating are needed. More was expected of us, and we failed…Working day and night, we are commissioning several new resources to stop this from happening again. We are building more redundancy to check our researchers work and improving our peer review.”..." Something, has failed!

For me, over the top is the way I prefer to go. A well designed/compiled/written software should be able to install 'over the top' without necessarily having to go through the tedium of first having to uninstall each time. P.S. I logged into the forums onetime to be invisible, and now every time I try to show as visible, it still shows me as invisible. Not to worry! I can still make a post.

Is there any plans for selling lifetime licenses anytime?
Tarnak replied to MakkeOnMies's topic in Anti-Exploit Beta
@ daledoc1 You make some interesting and compelling points. I have been beta testing many security softwares for 9 years or so. Unexpectedly, I received what amounts to a lifetime license for contribution to testing. LOL I should live so long! ... -
You're welcome.

Thank you, Firefox. P.S. I wasn't successful following the advice of others, in using that tool. So, preferred doing it my way.

After seeing this topic, I decided to give it a try. I uninstalled via the control panel, and rebooted... Then, I deleted what remained in C:\Program Files and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Then I hacked into the registry and deleted all relevant MBAM keys... Then I ran the installer, and now I have MBAM reinstalled.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Update to 2.0.2
Tarnak replied to AdvancedSetup's topic in Malwarebytes News
My recent posts have disappeared which were made here It looks as if the whole subforum where my (recent) posts and those by other members is no longer available, and has been replaced by "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Mobile Beta", a new topic. I checked my profile page, recent content for me, and it shows that my last posts were made in February. That is incorrect.... What is going on? However, from my browser history, I have found one of my recent topics - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=148719 It is obvious to me and others that come to Malwarebytes forums, that they would no longer find this listed, unless they had the link. -
I don't update and scan that often...I don't need to.

"No problems, updating there." - You, didn't read my comment closely, enough.

I have been noticing that MBAM has been getting slower and slower on my system when it comes to updating. At least 4 minutes when launching from the desktop, In the end I had to close, because it stopped responding. P.S. I am participating in the beta testing of MBAM v2, but that is in another snapshot. No problems, updating there.

[SOLVED] "Beta testing period has finished" dialog box
Tarnak replied to John L. Galt's topic in Anti-Exploit Beta
That is me. Real life testing on a live system. -
Interesting...I will bookmark for future reference. Luckily, I don't sign up for something, and have second thoughts, that often.

Error updating definitions
Tarnak replied to Tarnak's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Actually, I just restarted MBAM, and found out that the defs had updated, OK. From Oct 31. Scan was OK. -

I am hanging on to this custom build with XP installed, because I can't to get a new custom build with whatever the next flavor of Windows. But, I would hate it if they forced something to run automatically, after support ends for XP. I don't rely on Microsoft in securing my system.
