Massimiliano replied to Massimiliano's topic in Forums Announcements & Feedback
Only flaw. He created two identical posts for me (except for a mistake in the title) and it is no longer possible to edit the posts). Why? Update. I found the editing function -

Open Any Files from Mac App Store review
Massimiliano replied to Massimiliano's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
For the moment thanks @alvarnell All that remains is to wait for an opinion from a staff member -
On the Spider-Mac Apple User Group (online community officially recognized by Apple) in Italy, I participated in a discussion about the app Open Any Files di Rocky Sand Studio Ltd. In the discussion it turned out that the app in question would no longer have the misbehavior of advertising other invalid software. I would like to ask if with the released version updates (latest being 1.2.6 roughly 7 months ago), which according to the group manager would have eliminated the misbehavior the app in question should still be detected as OSX.FakeFileOpener. @treed or other Malwarebytes for Mac staff members can you update me on this? I state that I am not the developer of the app and I have no particular interest in removing the detection. Thank you Massimiliano

Is there anything known about, at least as far as Malwarebytes is concerned, the new Mac Malware infecting the XCode projects found by TrendMicro (link here on TrendMicro Blog XCSSET Mac Malware: Infects Xcode Projects, Performs UXSS Attack on Safari, Other Browsers, Leverages Zero-day Exploits)? Thanks Greetings Massimiliano

Version 4.5.14 Weird Behavior / Part 2
Massimiliano replied to GuruGuy's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
Frequent checking is actually useful. It is true that they are rarely updated but in two cases it has happened to me (I have been using MWB for macOS since the first beta released in July 2017) twice in which there were three updates in one day (probably for variants of the same malware). I read a while ago that one new malware per month on the Mac platform means a busy month. -
@tonytomlinson For a test, you can re-scan with Malwarebytes, follow its cleaning instructions and then empty the quarantine. Given the symptoms (modification of the search engine) it may be ad-aware. Restart the Mac Follow the instructions contained in these two posts by @treed How to remove the after-effects of adware If you then have problems with the internet connection Internet connection lost after malware removal

Version 4.5.14 Weird Behavior / Part 2
Massimiliano replied to GuruGuy's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
@exile360 , @GuruGuy I received the definition update 4.0.493 on 07/31/2020. Today, however, I turned on the Mac at 11:30AM (Italian time) and the check was done (regularly displayed in the menu) and it was redone at 12:00PM (always displayed) without downloading anything therefore I can say that, at least to me, they work correctly as in the past. It rarely happens that it skips an hourly deadline. @GuruGuy DTBS version cited by @1PW are the definition version updates I only have a few problems (very rarely) when I wake up the Mac: in these cases it can happen that an app (not always the same) bounces instead of being started. (It happened with Safari, Messages, Others but never with Malwarebytes). Unfortunately I think it is due to Catalina 10.15.6 (it had never happened since 2013 when the Mac was purchased) and unfortunately if Apple does not fix it with the additional updates I will have to keep the problem because it is the latest version compatible with my Mac. -
Version 4.5.14 Weird behavior
Massimiliano replied to GuruGuy's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
@GuruGuy On my Mac, the definition update, set every hour, happens almost every hour (rarely skips one) and in any case it happens every time the scheduled / manual scan is performed. Scanning occurs regularly; if the Mac is off or asleep at the set time, it always retrieves it. The last problems I reported about waking up the Mac seem to have disappeared a couple of days after resetting PRAM and SMC and starting the Mac in Safe Mode. The Real-Time protections are both active. (Both Malware Protection and App Block) Perhaps, at this point, the problem lies with your machine: it is an eventuality that I would not completely rule out. I would advise you to try a combo-update and any subsequent additional updates, after backing up with Time-Machine. (At this time Catalina 10.15.6 Combo of 15/07/2020 and to follow yesterday's additional update or alternatively wait for the new combo that will be released in days). I hope I was helpful -
Version 4.5.14 Weird behavior
Massimiliano replied to GuruGuy's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
I have both active RTP protections. No problem. It successfully run the lost scan whenever it is needed The definition update indication is updated at every time change (I checked just now). The problems ended with uninstalling / reinstalling Malwarebytes. Only problem left macOS gives some problems in case of awakening from stand-by (rarely). Ask @treed, @alvarnell, or anyone else using macOS if it happens to them too (problem never occurred before in macOS 10.15.6 and the installation of the beta of MWB 4.5.14) My System is MacBook Pro Mid 2012 13" Non-Retina Display (a very old Mac) macOS 10.15.6 - Malwarebytes 4.5.14 -
is there a version for android 5?
Massimiliano replied to julie80's topic in Malwarebytes for Android Support Forum
Malwarebytes for Android is only distributed via the PlayStore as far as I know -
is there a version for android 5?
Massimiliano replied to julie80's topic in Malwarebytes for Android Support Forum
It is indicated incorrectly on the site. Not being compatible with your phone, the PlayStore probably won't display it. -

Massimiliano replied to julie80's topic in Malwarebytes for Android Support Forum
@AdvancedSetup I ask you to verify because the system requirements on the PlayStore do not correspond to those indicated in your website https://it.malwarebytes.com/android/. Here it is in fact indicated 4.4+ I have now seen that the problem is on the Italian section of the site -

Multiple MB Apps in Full Disk Access
Massimiliano replied to Rando3000's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
As I wrote above in post # 8 my sister who has a MacBook Air 2020 and macOS 10.15.6 has all three voices for MWB 4.5.14. The situation happened right away, without any interaction on my part, that I installed Malwarebytes, since macOS 10.15.5 and MWB 4.4.x when he bought his Mac in June 2020. I attach screenshots of my sister's situation Everything was added automatically. I didn't have to change anything -

Multiple MB Apps in Full Disk Access
Massimiliano replied to Rando3000's topic in Malwarebytes for Mac Support Forum
I too am on macOS 10.15.6 and MWB 4.5.14 (clean installation of MWB) and I only have Malwarebytes Protection (also indicated in Italian). I think it depends more on the Mac than on the version of macOS (in fact mine is from 2012). In fact, my sister who has a MacBook Air 2020 and macOS 10.15.6 has all three voices for MWB 4.5.14 -

Can you attach screenshots with the correct settings for this cleaning? So far I have always run FRST only to upload any Logs that may be required here on the forum or in technical support tickets. Thank you
