mbam assistance request
mountaintree16 replied to v_arun's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hello v_arun, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org Please read and follow the directions below so that someone can assist you in cleaning your system Please note that it may take 2-3 days to get a response, as it is quite busy in there. If you don't receive a reply within 2-3 days, send a Private Message to an Admin (red names) or a Moderator (purple names) with a request for review. DO NOT reply to your own post asking for help; this makes it appear as though you are already receiving help and therefore it will take longer for your post to get reviewed. We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Thank you As a side note, when replying, please use the "Add Reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. -
can't find license
mountaintree16 replied to tekfu's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hello tekfu, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org In addition to what noknojon said, do you still have your license info saved in the email that you used to purchase it? As a side note, please use the "add reply" button when replying or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read -
@ Greyowl http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=32783 Personally though, if you want to view the page, I would disable it temporarily whilst viewing the page vs whitelisting it; whitelisting it could allow other malicious pages on that same IP address to load themselves. Also, if you are not sure if the page you are trying to view is actually malicious or not, please post it here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=42

@ Mystery Sweet, thanks I think I'll try out Orca when I have a chance, I liked the sounds of it more than Opera. Also the speed dial stuff and all that jazzy stuff on Opera really confused me, lol. Thanks for the Secunia advisories; I'll check them out when I am not so tired And if you know the answer to this, just making sure we're all clear - its fine to have 2, 3, 4 browsers installed, right?

jpace22, hello and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org You should always have an active AV subscription, whether free or paid. If you don't want to stick with McAfee, there are other paid or free options, which we can give you links to and information on. As for removing the trojan, we offer FREE removal help here, no need to pay McAfee to remove a trojan that they should technically remove with the program that's already been paid for. Please read the following so that someone can assist you with removing this trojan: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please be aware that it is quite busy in the Malware removal/HJT forum, so if its been more than 48-72 hours and you have not received a reply, please private message an Admin (red names) or a Moderator (purple names) with a link to your thread with a request for a review. DO NOT reply to your own thread asking for review, as this can make it appear as though you are already getting help and therefore it will take longer for you to receive help. Also include, along with your logs, any other information that you think might be helpful to your helper. Also, as a side note, when replying, please use the add reply button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person before you said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Once you're all clean, you might want to consider purchasing Malwarebytes for real-time protection of your computer, preventing these types of threats from getting in to begin with. (Purchase is NOT required for assistance in malware removal). It's a one-time cost of $24.95 (for one computer), and its good forever. There are no annual fees for home/personal use users. If you get a new computer down the road, you can move your license onto that computer after removing it off of the old computer, which we also have directions for if you do need them later on It's a simple process, wouldn't really take more than 5 minutes to clean it off the old machine. Please note, Malwarebytes is not a replacement for an anti-virus, its meant to be used WITH an anti-virus. Thank you

Copys alowed to install
mountaintree16 replied to ram53's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
@ Ram53, jc5810, and Kimsland: For personal/home use: One license per computer. So for example, if your home has four computers, one license is required for each machine -
Restore from quarantine
mountaintree16 replied to Paul H's topic in Malwarebytes for Windows Support Forum
Hello Paul H and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Post your log from each scan in the False Positives forum so that someone can check it for you http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=42 If you did restore them all, and then did a scan afterwards, anything that was NOT a FP would be caught again -
Deebee - please keep Internet Explorer - its a good way to manually check for automatic updates for your computer if you ever need to, at least on XP and lower operating systems. I had to use it the other day to manually check for this month's Patch Tuesday updates, because for some reason my auto-updater wasn't working I never use IE except to manually check for updates, or if a site I am using doesn't work well in Firefox. MysteryFCM - thanks for those links, I was going to make a post soon about what the official web addresses are for alternate browsers (Didn't want to risk a fake result searching myself ) I might try one out myself, but I don't think I'll be able to get the other half to change over from FF anytime soon, but I can try it out at any rate I also like the sounds of Orcabrowser because it is similar and based off the same/similar code as Firefox, if I am understanding correctly Ooh, I see that it will block ads and flash and the like on its own, without need for additional add-ons I just might download it and try it out tomorrow! Probably a stupid question, but will mbam/AV work in any browser really?

@ catscomputer Cool! If I get get my friend to split some of the cost with me, I'll buy it (she'll need it for school) and share the other one with my family, I don't think it came with their computer. Edit: She already has it, so I don't think I'll buy it, only because I don't really really need it at this point, so I'll save some money this way, heh.

oh my goshhh! That's so sweet Maybe I'll buy Office, I wonder if you could share it with a friend or family member though, coz I only have one PC of my own at home

I did Marcus, thank you I just didn't get a chance to look at the sites yet, I'll probably check them out tonight and reply back to you
