  1. Hi nairusjg Hmmm. That's weird. Does your anti-virus find any sign of infection?
  2. Hi jbk welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org and thank you for your purchase It's doing exactly what it says - blocking access to a malicious IP which prevents getting infected in the first place If you have any doubts, post the name of the website that you got this alert on AND the IP address number here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showforum=42 so someone can have a look at if for you. Also, as a side note when replying, please use the "Add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person before you said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  3. Hi Angie and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Try pressing ctrl + alt + delete to get to task manager. Click on the Processes tab. Click on "image name" (this just sorts them in alphabetical order so things are easier to find by name). Find mbam.exe Click on it, then click end process. Click "yes" at the prompt. Try opening malwarebytes again, and this time run a QUICK scan If mbam.exe is not found, then it isn't running. If that doesn't work, (and even if it does) when you are finished and have removed all found items, please read below: Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Someone will be along to help you as soon as possible to clean your machine. It can take 48 hours or more sometimes to get a reply from someone when the malware removal forum is very busy, so please be patient And as a side note, when replying please use the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person replying to you said and just address them as @username or username:, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  4. Hello nairusjg, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org Have you had any recent infections on the machine that you are currently having trouble running Malwarebytes on? Before it reboots, did you notice if any items were found in the scan? (These would be in red). Also, as a side note, when replying, please use the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person you are replying to said and just address them as @username or username:, as this makes the forum easier to read.
  5. @ YoKenny1 You can just use the URL that Falkra provides That was my main point when posting the link. No installation of anything there I do see your point though, and I think that the OSCIVWAR probably meant LinkScanner, not the Firefox add-on, but I am not positive. http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=175238 Personally, I just don't click those types of links anyway unless it comes from Malwarebytes or a Malwarebytes staff member
  6. Working just fine here, Pieter. Great job
  7. Alan, Please read this: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=129943 Thank you
  8. Please see here everyone: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.p...st&p=143719 This tool should be helpful
  9. Seriously, to both of you that have posted here with this infection, as well as anyone else reading this... PLEASE follow the directions given by AdvancedSetup. Your computer is most likely NOT clean.
  10. @ memoemc2 & OrinKenn I believe that Foxit has stopped including some of that crapware and has cleaned up their installation process somewhat, but I would not use them after that stint. I was considering switching to them but then I learned about that. I am personally fine with Adobe Reader. When I learn of an unpatched security issue, I just temporarily disable it in my browser and check daily for an update Of course, I don't use PDF's too often/don't need to and I don't mind waiting for a patch. However, I know that this is not realistic for all users of course. There are some other alternatives out there although I don't know what they all are. After reading the link I give below, I am also going to disable the javascript in it anyone interested in alternatives and more information on this exploit should check out this link: http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2009/12...nerability.html It is the blog of one of our Experts, Corrine Oh, and apparently they aren't issuing an update until January 10th
  11. KerryT (and anyone else with this infection): System restore may not have fully fixed it/ridded your system of this infection. Please post in this forum to get your system checked after following the directions here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9573 Thank you.
  12. OrinKenn You may just want to check out these links prior to using Foxit: http://www.mywot.com/en/forum/3387-foxit-r...fied-as-malware http://hphosts.blogspot.com/2009/05/foxit-...ly-malware.html (this second link is a blog by one of our Moderators, MysteryFCM) http://www.vitalsecurity.org/2009/05/why-i...shed-foxit.html In the meantime, PLEASE PLEASE get your system checked for malware; the battle may not be over just by switching your PDF reader to another company's product. I have a hunch that you might be infected. The only way to know is to get your system checked with the instructions that I provided you with in post #3
  13. @ MysteryFCM I am nearly ready to download and start using Orca Browser (sometime this week! ). Which place/mirror do you think would be best to download it from, though? The default one is this one but Soft Pedia, Major Geeks, and Beta News are also an option.
  14. Alan, We mostly use Firefox, and I have it set to ASK us every time something is downloaded, and I have also set that download spot to the desktop. Therefore, a prompt comes up each and every time something is wanting to download, and there I can choose to download it or not. Do you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or something else? Currently I am looking at switching some of my browser needs over to Orca Browser www.orcabrowser.com for increased security and such. I'll still use Firefox though for some other things. I mostly only use Internet Explorer to manually check for Windows Updates.
  15. Is there a way I can find out what my system specifications are? (MHz, etc...)? I can't find out much info in the system tab, aside from what I already know. I've seen information/recommendations about/for Speccy posted here; would that be something to use to get this information?
  16. Hello ORINKENN Adobe Reader currently needs to be patched, they're working on it but one hasn't come out yet. Are these PDF's that you need to open or were they randomly opening? I think you may have been infected, but follow the directions below to check on that: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Note: It can take 48 hours and sometimes more for someone to help you, so please be patient while you wait for assistance. The malware removal forum is staffed primarily by volunteers who have a lot of people that need help currently.
  17. Hello ORINKENN, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org I am assuming that you are using Adobe Reader. What version are you using? Also, when replying please use the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person you are replying to said and address them as @username or just username. Thanks
  18. You're welcome Alan Thanks, you have a good night as well. I can't wait to go to sleep I've had a longgg day.
  19. Hi Alan Oh, okay Avast! is a good choice You are very welcome! Thank you and Merry Christmas to you as well In the future though, when replying, please use the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person before you said and just address them like I have you or @username.
  20. @ MrAlanCaboose Awesome! It will add excellent protection to your system, Alan What do you currently use for your anti-virus? And again, welcome to the forums here! Hope you like it here and learn a lot I've learned tons!
  21. Welcome Alan! I hope that you enjoy your time here and that you learn much!! And you've made a very wise choice in using Mbam Have you purchased the full version, just out of curiosity? I purchased it after using the free version for several months, and I'll never go without it again
