  1. Trueee. I'll try to inform my Mac user friends. I am not sure what other choices they have though, other than Firefox.
  2. Thanks for the confirmation. Even in a Mac? I use IE 8... when I do use it, that is.
  3. @ Kakachi You solve it by following GT500's directions here. Thanks
  4. lazydave46, I also will add, for the free version, you really only need to update the program prior to a scan. There isn't really a need to update it if you aren't going to scan with it right after. For example, if you scan daily, then you'd want to update daily. If you want to scan once or twice a week, then you'd update just before those scans once or twice a week. As for the paid version, you would want to keep it updated as often as possible (at least once a day though) as it provides realtime protection on top of scanning, as well as some other features
  5. Well said, Firefox. I've been using computers for over a decade, and although I don't know a whole lot yet, I am learning a LOT here and I still have much to learn. I definitely know a lot more than I did before I joined this forum though (and I thought I knew a lot before I joined, hehe).
  6. You are very welcome! Facebook can be safer if the user is careful - but its still a risk. What does he have for security software, arfamow?
  7. Also arfamow, regarding Facebook, Applications should not be used, do not click unknown links, be wary of clicking ANY links in general... Facebook unfortunately is a magnet for malware abuse just because of the sheer popularity of it. Also, when replying, please use the "ADD REPLY" button at the bottom of the page, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thanks
  8. Thank you much GT500 and thanks for the link, I'll be reading it
  9. Is it normal to have like 4-6 of them running GT500? :/

  11. Thanks Ron I do the removal anyway to avoid any issues; Exile recommended that I do it that way so that's what I do now Should I reboot after installing it the way that I do it then?
  12. AdvancedSetup, So when the program is updated to a new version, you should reboot? This is what I do, just want to make sure I do it right: I download a fresh copy of Mbam. Uninstall via Control Panel. Restart. Disable my AV temporarily, then I install Mbam, but I don't restart again afterwards. Is this okay?
  13. Oh, okay. I'm sure someone who might know can jump in here Sorry I couldn't be of more help, lordpuffer. Please use the add-reply button at the bottom of the page in the future when replying please.
  14. You're welcome, Ragan Petrie Hmm, that's odd that its broken. Anyway, yes you can Private Message him by clicking here. Please include your link: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35807 in your PM to him. Also, please use the add reply button when replying. Thanks
  15. One other thing to try, is ATF Cleaner, a temp file cleaner. A temp file cleaner will help speed up scan times, although I think that your long scan time doesn't have anything to do with temp files, but cleaning out your temp files can't hurt To delete your temp files, please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. If using Vista or 7, please right click and choose "Run as Administrator". Click the select all box. If you have items you wish to keep in your Recycle Bin, please uncheck that box. Then, click "Empty Selected". If you use Firefox or Opera, please click on those names at the top of ATF Cleaner and click the select all button again. If you have saved passwords that you'd like to keep, click NO at the prompt. Again, click "Empty selected". I recommend running ATF Cleaner at least once a week And definitely follow the directions of GT500 above me! Also, as a side note, when replying, please use the "Add reply" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  16. Probably a silly question GT500, but, Spycar is totally safe? I've been wanting to test it out but since I don't really know what I am doing I don't want to do something that might actually be an infection.. heh
  17. Thanks Firefox, I'll check into that one too Actually someone else has already offered to walk me through setting it up, but I greatly appreciate your offering to do so
  18. Hello lordpuffer First of all, are you all updated with version 1.44? This new version was just released yesterday and should fix this issue. Check to see if you have that version and let me know. Edit: sorry lordpuffer, I should have read your post a second time. I don't think Mbam is your issue then.. you should post your question over in the PC Help forum since it doesn't appear to be an issue with Malwarebytes itself.
  19. Hello kOala, and welcome to the forums here at Malwarebytes.org If you are unsure if its a rogue (and especially if you think you may have said rogue) Please read the following: We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums. Please read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here. One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available. Please note that it may take 48 hours or more for you to receive a response in the malware removal forum, as it is often busy at times. Please do not reply to your own post asking for help unless its been more than 48 hours since you originally posted, as this can make it appear as though you are being helped and take longer for you to get help. Also, when replying, please use the "add reply" button or erase what the person you are replying to said, as this makes the forum easier to read. Thank you
  20. Okay voltron Is this a computer that you were concerned it wouldn't let mbam install on?

  22. Hi voltron I am not sure about the set up in the folder and the exact answer to that question, (but are you seeing the setup in a temp folder) but yes, you can take the mbam setup that you download with you on a CD or a flashdrive and install it on the computer you wish to use it on, however, it will and does not run FROM the USB drive or the CD; you would simply use the setup to install mbam onto the computer in question. Hopefully someone else who knows better than me will step in with the answer to the other part of your question Also, when replying, please use the "add reply" button at the bottom of the page or erase what the person you are replying to said.
