no updates with VPN and Proxy

Recommended Posts

Hi I work for a university and we offer free help to students to remove virues etc from there own laptops and since version 1.45 we are having problems getting updates on any student laptops. The way the students connect is via a VPN connection and also a proxy server is needed for connections outside the uni.

Before the proxy changes in Anti-Malware it used to update without any settings needed as i guess it got them from Internet Explorer; but now it just says the program is up to date even with proxy settings in manually in the Anti-Malware options.

I tried it on my office machine as a test which needs the proxy but doesn't use vpn and it updates fine when the proxy settings are in Anti-Malware so i think it must be the VPN connection causing the program.

as it sounds that you are using this in a corporate environment, you should send an email to corporate-support@malwarebytes.org along with you contact info, order number, Cleverbridge numbers and licence information and they will help you fix your issue.

Is a student running anti-malware on there own personal laptop a corporate environment?

The university doesn't use anti-malware on any of its machines otherwise I'm sure we would have a licence; i just wanted to reported what used to work before 1.45 does not now

You've answered the question yourself. It is not your OWN personal computer.

Hi I work for a university and we offer free help to students to remove virues etc from [n]there own[/n] laptops

Since YOU are the one doing the work you require a Technician's License as does anyone else performing scanning and cleaning there at the school when it's being done on another individuals computer.

You can contact Sales and obtain a Technician's License which then gives you the legal right to use the software in the manner you describe. It is a yearly fee that needs to be renewed each year. I don't know the exact cost but it is somewhere around $100 I believe.

You can send an email to corporate@malwarebytes.org and ask them for information on the Technician's License version.

Thank you.

Sorry for the confusion but all we do is give them advice and what software to run to remove the virus the student themselves do the installing and updating; we don't touch the students machines.

If this is still against the rules we will have to advise different software as i doubt the uni will pay anything out for a free service which will be a pity as it is excellent software and I always advise the students to get the full version if they don't want to be infected again in the future.

Thanks for the info.
