Malwarebytes is eating my computer

Recommended Posts

Since installing AntiMalware Pro on my desktop last Monday, my computer has been losing capabilities. First my solitaire game disappeared. Then my printer stopped working - spooler has been deleted. Today, the AntiMalware Pro shortcuts can no longer find the program. Three emails to the support desk have gone unanswered. How do I fix my problem, and how do I get the support desk to respond? :)

Hello, and welcome to malwarebytes.org

AntimalwarePro is a fake anti-malware application, it is not Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Wow - I thought I had downloaded your program, but when I went Googled it again just now, I see that Anti-Malware Pro is listed as an advertised, safe site just above the Malwarebytes site. It's possible I hit the wrong URL for download - I recall having problems with the C-net site and going back to the Google list to try directly. Just repeated the process, and it appears that MWB can only be downloaded through C-net, so I must have hit the wrong URL.

You say Anit-Malware Pro is a fake program - and its performance would seem to indicate that. Yet Google had it at the top of the list and Norton labeled it a safe site - is it really fake or just a bad competitor?

Thanks for the prompt response. I'll see what I can do to get my money back from these guys.

Iron4,

You can contest the charges though with your credit card company if you purchased this malicious software. Hopefully they'll be able to refund your money. You may also want to look into canceling that account and getting a new one so no new fraudulent charges are made to your card (which could potentially happen).

And yes, please do follow the directions from noknojon above me to get yourself cleaned up.
