error code 732 (0, 0)

Recommended Posts

I was trying to update my anti-malware and got the error code: 732 (0,0). I know that this is listed as an internet connectivity issue, of which I have none. I have also followed the instructions on checking the box next to Automatically detect settings under Internet options and it was already checked. I was able to update and run the program last week, so you can understand my concern. I have to wonder know if I'm infected with something and it is blocking my updates. Please help.

Hi. I too have the same problem & did everything which was suggested in a earlier thread of this problem. The updates were working fine yesterday but stopped showing errror 732 (0.0)

I have done the LAN settings, done the CMD Run setting (which came up "successful"), made sure my security virus software excluded all Malaware Bytes files and my Internet connection is workoing fine throughout.

Can anyone advise please how I can get the updates to start again?

Yes same problem here, I was concerned because Malwarebytes found a backdooor trojan the other day that could only be removed in safe mode, and was not detected by Norton 360 or superanti spyware. This being the first time I have tried to update since removing the trojan, I thought it had damaged malwarebytes somehow. Anyway a big thanks for providing a program that has proved itself a valuable asset to my internet security. Hope updates will be available soon as I want to do another scan with latest database version.

Same problem. Just FYI, my Windows Security Protection updated two days ago, shut down and restarted; so did this do anything to affect my system. Windows XP

Also, when I checked the Windows Firewall, there is nothing listed for MBAM to mark as an exception.

Is my firewall blocking updates?

Do I need to add MBAM to the firewall as a trusted site?

Thanks to those that who had patience as it was only a minor glitch in the server - All 732 problems should be fixed now -

If you continue to get a 732 message then please post back and we will check your problem -

Thank You - :D

The problem has now been fixed. I can now update. I don't know if it fixed via Malwarebytes itself or if it was myself doing all the exclude Malware files from the internet firewall.

Please do the following to see if it corrects it:

NOTE: You still need to do all the steps involving Internet Explorer, even if you do not normally use Internet Explorer as your internet browser. This is because Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware takes its connection settings from Internet Explorer. You can still use an alternative internet browser afterwards, as long as the connection settings in Internet Explorer are correct.

Step 1: Verify Internet Connectivity of Internet Explorer:

  • Click on Start and select Run
  • In the Run box copy and paste the text in the following code box exactly as written and press Enter or click on OK:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" /v GlobalUserOffline /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  • Try updating again and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Exclude Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware's Files and Folders From Other Active Security Programs:

For Windows XP:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll
  • C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref
  • C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys
  • C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

Now try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once more and if it does not work then please proceed to Step 3

Step 3: Verify Your Internet Connection Settings:

  • Open Internet Explorer
    • Note: It MUST be Internet Explorer, not Firefox, Opera, Chrome or any other internet browser

[*]Click on Tools at the top and select Internet Options

    • Note: If you do not see Tools, press the Alt key on your keyboard and it will show up

    [*]Click on the Connections tab

[*]Click on the LAN settings button

[*]Under Automatic configuration make sure that the box next to Automatically detect settings is checked, if it is not, then click the box next to it to check it

[*]Under Proxy server make sure that the box next to Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections). is not checked and if it is, click the box next to it to uncheck it

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window

[*]Click on the OK button to close the Internet Options window

[*]Try updating Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to see if it now works correctly

some of the paths in that post are not entirely correct in Step two.
