Hi,

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes for Windows Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

Malwarebytes Support Tool - Advanced Options

This feature is designed for the following reasons:

  • For use when you are on the forums and need to provide logs for assistance
  • For use when you don't need or want to create a ticket with Malwarebytes
  • For use when you want to perform local troubleshooting on your own

How to use the Advanced Options:

Spoiler
  1. Download Malwarebytes Support Tool
  2. Double-click mb-support-X.X.X.XXXX.exe to run the program
    • You may be prompted by User Account Control (UAC) to allow changes to be made to your computer. Click Yes to consent.
  3. Place a checkmark next to Accept License Agreement and click Next
  4. Navigate to the Advanced tab
  5. The Advanced menu page contains four categories:
    • Gather Logs: Collects troubleshooting information from the computer. As part of this process, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is run to perform a complete diagnosis. The information is saved to a file on the Desktop named mbst-grab-results.zip and can be added as an email attachment or uploaded to a forum post to assist with troubleshooting the issue at hand.
    • Clean: Performs an automated uninstallation of all Malwarebytes products installed to the computer and prompts to install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows afterwards. The Premium license key is backed up and reinstated. All user configurations and other data are removed. This process requires a reboot.
    •  Repair System: Includes various system-related repairs in case a Windows service is not functioning correctly that Malwarebytes for Windows is dependent on. It is not recommended to use any Repair System options unless instructed by a Malwarebytes Support agent.
    • Anonymously help the community by providing usage and threat statistics: Unchecking this option will prevent Malwarebytes Support Tool from sending anonymous telemetry data on usage of the program.
  6. To provide logs for review click the Gather Logs button
  7. Upon completion, click OK
  8. A file named mbst-grab-results.zip will be saved to your Desktop
  9. Please attach the file in your next reply.
  10. To uninstall all Malwarebytes Products, click the Clean button.
  11. Click the Yes button to proceed.
  12. Save all your work and click OK when you are ready to reboot.
  13. After the reboot, you will have the option to re-install the latest version of Malwarebytes for Windows.
  14. Select Yes to install Malwarebytes.
  15. Malwarebytes for Windows will open once the installation completes successfully.

I actually thought my subscription had already expired. Would someone please help me remove the application.

You will need to disable Tamper protection.

If you forget your Tamper Protection password, it can be reset using your license key, or the key portion of your license, if your license is in the older ID and Key format. In the Tamper Protection window, click Reset password, then enter your license key (capitalized and including dashes) to set a new password.

You seem to be in between a rock and a hard place. I know you want to uninstall but you are welcome to use the free version to scan even with Bit Defender.

Is BitDefender giving you a hard time about Malwarebytes being installed?

I do not know of a way to disable tamper protection other than the standard way or a reset of Windows.

Why would you give the same inappropriate advice as you did back then, words fail me.

Not a single statement in this entire process indicates that anyone has forgotten their password or wants to reset it.

I know my old password, but I can't use it because I don't have an active Premium subscription. I can enter it during the normal uninstall and it is accepted, but the uninstall tool does not give any feedback and remains frozen at 5%.
The uninstallation via the support tool cannot even be initiated, as I am only asked to deactivate Tamper Protection manually.
However, this is not possible as I do not have access to this function.

Since my only obvious solution here is to purchase a premium subscription again, I would hope that the customer would not be forced to spend money unnecessarily through deliberate naivety, although after all this time this strange error should have been fixed long ago, after all, this is a program that you want to trust as a customer.

In this sense, I kindly ask for practical help in uninstalling Malwarebytes without being forced to buy a subscription again (after my license key, which I bought for a lifetime for the second time years ago and which was deactivated and replaced again by changing the purchase options, I am quite short-tempered).

Legitimate lifetime keys are still valid. Did you contact support when you first had issues with your lifetime license to sort it out?

I have asked some one to assist you.

Hello r14v8,

Had you explained this to begin with, Porthos would not have repeated what I had told another user earlier.

This is a unique scenario and you do not need to purchase another license - I'll get you through this.  Please check you Private Messages in a couple of minutes.
