Malwarebytes 4.10 and Adguard 7.3 Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just updated my Malwarebytes program for version 3 to the new version 4.10 today and now the new version of Malwarebytes is stopping Adguard 7.3 from blocking ads in Chrome  81.0.4044.92 (Official Build) (64-bit).  When I turn off Malwarebytes 4.10 the Ads are blocked also when I was running Malwarebytes version 3 all ads were blocked with all 4 shields on .  Do you know about this issue and what can I do or how do I go back to the last version of 3 since that does not have all the issues that 4 has. ?  Thank you.

I have the paid version of Adguard and I highly recommend it.  It is a fantastic Ad Blocker/Stealth program for the internet and they have a lifetime license (Hint).  I just tried the steps in the article you gave me and it worked great.  By turning off the WFP in network settings in Adguard then restart Adguard and Malwarebytes are working great together now.  Thank you.

P.S. How do you get to the filters in Malwarebytes 4 and how do you uninstall that program you gave me to send the log?  By the way I never had a problem finding anything in 3.  I personally don't like the layout in 4 you cant find anything now.

Great, glad to hear that worked out well for you @jenine

You can delete the mbst-grab-results.zip from the desktop, delete the MBST download and there is a C:\FRST folder you can delete to remove the tool. You may need to reboot in order to remove the C:\FRST folder.

As for a filter like Adguard has our program does not work like that. It is not an Ad blocker.

As for Adguard I was just curious what it was doing for you that uBlock Origin was not doing is all.

If interested we have released a new beta build today. Not saying that it would address the issue or not but the beta series has corrected many reported issues in general

Thank you again

Hello @jenine

There are some other users that report that using the latest beta build of Malwarebytes also resolves this issue even without disabling the WFP filter in Adguard

If you'd like to try that out you can enable the beta version from inside settings in Malwarebytes

Thank you so much for taking the time to update me on a possible new solution I really appreciate it.  I will follow your steps and update to the latest beta build of Malwarebytes and will get back to you if it resolves this issue without disabling the WFP filter in Adguard.

Hi, I just put in your beta 41056/1022260/10875 and now my system takes longer to boot and did not solve the ad problem with Adguard by turning on the WFP filter (some ad's were blocked now with the new beta but some still got through).  I’m done with testing I don’t have time how do I remove this beta and put back the current version ASAP I need my system for work …..Everything was working great before this beta by just turning off the WFP filter in asguard…...I just turned the filter off again and now I dont have ANY ads even with your beta...Thats great but I want to still remove this beta?  Please give me the steps to put back the current version.  Thanks

Please give me the steps to put back the current version.

You will have to do a clean install see below.

Please do the following Uninstall and reinstall using the Malwarebytes Support Tool

Please have lots of patience with the tool.  The first phase is a cleanup and does require a Windows Restart.
After the Restart, it may take 2 - 3 - 4 minutes till the Support tool screen shows up.   Please be patient and have faith.  Wait for it, whatever it takes.
The 2nd phase is where it offers to do a new Install.

Let me know if that clears up the issue or not.

When done, You will to re do your exclusions.

Exclusion Info:
==================================
Malware Exclusions:
C:\Program Files\Grass Valley [folder]
C:\Users\Norris\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley [folder]
C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley [folder]

Ransomware Exclusions:
C:\Program Files\Grass Valley [folder]
C:\Users\Norris\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley [folder]
C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley [folder]

Since you use Avast,

I would  also recommend creating exclusions between Malwarebytes and Your AV to help prevent any possible conflicts or performance issues.  Please add the items listed in this support article to Your AV 's allow list(s)/trust list(s)/exclusion list(s) particularly for any of its real-time protection components and likewise add Your AV 's program folder(s) (likely located under C:\Program Files and/or C:\Program Files (x86)) to Malwarebytes' Allow List using the method described under the Allow a file or folder section of this support article and do the same for its primary data folder which is likely located under C:\ProgramData (you may need to show hidden files and folders to see it).

Also I don't consider what I wrote being a FIX "Everything was working great before this beta by just turning off the WFP filter in adguard…...I just turned the filter off again and now I dont have ANY ads even with your beta...Thats great but I want to still remove this beta?  Please give me the steps to put back the current version". Again ALL you ever do is have workarounds rather then FIX your program.  I should not have to turn off the WFP filter as many people have said in the past 6 DAYS????  Thanks

If following the directions from the following topic does not correct the issue then we will have to wait for another update from our Development team.

Uninstall and reinstall Malwarebytes using the Malwarebytes Support Tool

Please try the removal of your current version and reinstall again and let us know if that corrects the issue or not.

Thank you
